What I like about Cav is that he is very much aware of how much his individual success is built on teamwork and he readily acknowledges every time he enjoys success. He gives credit where credit is due (even opponents like Kittel when he beat Cav in this year's Champs Elysees finish in the TdF). He is also keenly aware of the sport's history and traditions and I like that too. Keep doing what you do, Cav!
We really need to appreciate the Hugh and Chris team. With all things that are revealing themselves, the Phil and Paul team is losing credibility and of course with Chris's recent announcement of retiring completely, we really have to love him.
Gb made a great job to control the race, but in the last km, it was Cavendish against australia and germany, he knew that the second best man there was goss, he stayed behind him and at 200 metres from the end, he went, and nobody could stop him, a very good sprinter that was missing was italian Petacchi, but as he has had problems with doping in the past he was not called by italy. Everybody in gb should be so proud of him, instead there are only 1210 views and no comments.... sad..so sad.
Thank you very much! I was there. Didn't see much of the race back then. But what a fantastic atmosphere. And the weather? How often do you get 25°c at the end of september in Denmark? Almost never. A true miracle.
also federer's tennis racquet is 500 pounds, but you can have great fun with a 90 pounbds racquet, same thing with a racing bike.. you can have a good bike from 800 pounds upwards.. i live in italy, and i agree that england does not really offer the best cicling roads ....
Its not a very accessible sport because good bikes cost a fortune. Marks bike is 10K and costs a fortune to repair and maintain. Also good roads are hard to find for most people and people drive like crazed loons these days with zero reguard for life.
Do you think people need to start with a bike that cost 10k? I bet none of the people in this peloton started with a silver spoon in their mouth, and got a 10k bike at their 3rd birthday. Good roads are not important. The british team that won have all been good track cyclist. And not all of them had a good track to go to either. Geraint Thomas even wrote that the track had holes in it. Cadel Evans comes from BMX, and Sagan comes from MTB. And thats only a few examples of the lot. Read G.Thomas' book. Its a good read if you want to know the story about cycling. "The world of cycling according to G."
