I agree 100%! I met Mark in 1990 in Nashville and saw him do his debut on grand old Opry! I fell in love with this music the day I heard hardin county line mostly because this song is great. secondly because I have a Goat, hit home with me. Went out right away and bought the CD still have it.

you are truly fortunate ... sounds like open country, farm lands, etc. === perhaps a fantasy for me - grew up on a farm & miss it desperately ... please enjoy it for me !!!
Such stiff competition for country artists back then. Love the instruments on this song. Thank god for great country music back then. Is Mark still touring?
When I was in high school. We would race from Flaghtry on KY 1600 to the Hardin county line. It was 2 miles a soft left hand turn in the middle of that stretch. And a mile to the county line.
Me too. I still feel the chill run through my bones. I lost a good friend in a head on crash back in high school. Dodge Dart Swinger vs. Ford Fairlane 500. Guardrail and elm tree won.
I love all of Mark Collie songs, however I'm trying to locate this one song that he sing. I think he's the one that sings it.... Can sombody help please...

@master8357 Probably not Mark is from around hardin county Tn. Hwy 64 runs I believe from the Al. line thru Hardin county Tn. I had The honor to play steel guitar for Mark this past New Years Eve on one of his concerts
@darlenebification Dude, Fire Down Below is my favorite Steven Segal movie, I guess because the county influence hits home LOL Good movie. I'm a car guy, so this song hits home too! LOL
I'm from the town that he's from, Waynesboro, TN. My parents told different stories of him. Mom: "He was the first boy I ever kissed. Eighth grade." Dad: "I used to flick his ears on the back of the school bus."
This tune could be used as a theme to STREET OUTLAWS! Even NASCAR as well! Let's face it, race that Mustang and GTO against a Buick Gran Sport 455 V8 and believe me that Buick GS would kick both their asses!
Jeffrey Baker wrote a comment to you, unfortunately it is on Wayne Lac. he is listed just below you in the comments. And thought you might like to read that.

Can somebody tell what the name of this song is...
waynelac depends on the setup. I owned a 1973 olds Omega that came out of the factory with a full race cammed LT1. Was able to shut down 375 396 Chevelles with it! only olds I've ever heard of with factory installed side pipes. They weren't the rusty Chrome that they put on Corvettes, heavy finned brushed aluminum with 6 inch ports on them. came with factory installed positraction torque Twisters on it, and Hurst 4-speed with heavy duty Schaefer pressure plate. ran consistent 11:37 and 11:38's at 123 to 126 mph.
@@GabrielWithoutWings I remember in 58 when I came home from the marines I would race my dad pick-up on 64 west of selmer Tenn. didn't race any more after that as I went back in service.
I’m from Wayne County, which is the other side of the line where the bridge is where this was filmed on the Hardin County Line. There is a local ghost story that old people know that just east of that bridge is a holler, and back in that holler is some kind of spirit from back in the Indian days, and it’s a bad spirit and from time to time vehicles will wreck on that perfectly straight stretch of highway for no reason, except some people say it’s the thing in the holler. That story gets told and then the story about the family disappearing except for their little boy gets told. Nobody ever did figure out that one. Dinner was on the table and they were just gone except the little boy. Collie has probably heard those stories, most local people around there have. I guarantee you, Ronny Scaife knew the ghost stories. It was friends of his who told me.
