Praise God for this sermon. It changed my life. For all of Mark Driscoll's issues, I thank God he used him here. This sermon was used by God to free me from lust and sexual immorality.

I am a committed Christian man. Raised in the church. Read every book I could find on bring a godly husband. Saved myself. Didn't date around. Strived every day to live and cherish my wife. Brought her flowers, provided, opened my heart every night, snuggled often, listened, put her needs ahead of mine...and this sermon destroyed my marriage. I was there that night, with my wife. And Mark convinced her that I'm a terrible husband.

I remember when I first heard this sermon I thought he was speaking the truth. I mean there's nothing he's saying that you could really disagree with. I really thought he hit the nail on the head and was speaking prophetically. It was quite powerful. Then of course I later found out what he was really like.

I honestly don't understand why people disagree with this message and are shocked... the yelling was possibly a bit much, but the point is he's angry with the abusive sinners that mistreat people or blaspheme God, which we should all be angry about. Someone please explain what he did wrong in this video?

I applaud this man for having the guts. The spine, the heart, the concern to say what needs to be said. People are ripping him apart because he's holding men accountable, for their actions, he needs to do the same regarding some women too. And yes, I'm a woman and yes, I said it. We could tell these are the end times because people I can who are not afraid to stand up for what's right. Are being ripped to shreds. That's OK, mark, your reward is great in heaven. You will be welcomed with open arms by our lord and savior

I remember being there during this sermon. It was freaking awesome. PM was far from perfect. But you had to have been there... MHC was an amazing church, with some amazing people and Christ did so much work there.

Wow. I had really started to like this guy, appreciating a great number of his podcasts, welcoming a highly intelligent and humorous but pointed communicator to the battle, unafraid of exposing even his own shortcomings. But he had a great opportunity to make a much-needed point here and blew it with his hysteria, dramatically shifting the focus from where it needed to be.

"They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women...2 Timothy 3:6" The Bible says that they gain control over gullible women. Doing so , they also gain control over husbands and fathers and men in general . Wolves in sheep's clothing.

I pray for all men and women who are broken right now that Holy Spirit reveals to you how and when to fix it and you get the help you need

For anyone on this site that is serious about being here, this clip really spoke to me. I have never beat or hurt my wife, but I don't always treat her as I should or lead my family as I should and Mark is correct. How dare I? you have expanded the parameters of my perception into the social behavioural predispositions and environmental stresses and factors which create abborant behaviour in human society and the world, spirit or otherwise, I am now an enlightened individual who will be capable of bridging the differences in many cultures across many continents in the ways to treat one another in relations ships such as marriage, maybe some cultures in Africa or other parts of the world where these things dont apply or are ever conceived, their ideals of love and beauty are alien to ours and there can be many wives or husbands, depending on the culture, where the mutual ideals are somewhat or drastically different.

I burst out laughing when he started yelling. It's a good thing I wasn't in his congregation. No doubt my laughter would have pissed him off. He must be used to people actually taking him seriously. Totally reminds me of Gene Scott. God rest his soul.

When a parent tell a child that he/she is stupid and rarely tell that child that you love him/her, the kid will developed low-self esteem. They will feel that they're not appreciated and loved and will eventually become a very unhappy adult, and that's a fact. When a husband constantly tells his wife that she should submit to him and rarely show his love to her, she will resent him. That love and consideration is a role he has to play, not just when it's convenient to him.

Chivalry is important; pulling out the chair for the women, and things of that sort, but whenever I hear Mark Driscoll speak my head wants to pop a blood vessel.

"Some of you have been coming here for years"... Going to church doesn't make you a Christian or a Godly person . Your heart needs to be in it and you need to be an actual believer and disciple and obey the word of God. If you aren't any of that then going to church means nothing. It's about being the church, not going to a building.

…and this is how Christian pastors steal a guy's woman lol. I was a good dude dealing with an unsubmissive wife who constantly got bored when I tried to pray with her, criticized me whenever I tried to lead us in studying the Word, and slandered me constantly to people in the church. I never abused her in any way and was serving in the Army and working on my PhD at the time. I never looked at porn or messed around with other women. On the way home from hearing this sermon my wife cussed me out in the car and told me I was an abuser and that she'd have the pastors at Mars Hill "put me in my place." Shortly thereafter I was fired and excommunicated and she divorced me while they stood by and did nothing.

How is it abusing/dishonoring a woman when you have sex with her? Why shame on the man and not the woman?

But coming from a abusive relationship, this is what happens in every situation, parents house, grocery store, friends house and home. Everywhere. Where Mark has or hasn't done or said these things I have no clue. But im sure god had him say it for a reason. To tell us or to tell him or his family, it needed to be said. Because i always thought it was just my relationship that did that. And i love how he tough loves the men...some need to be woke up to become better men than their issues.

The threat that God might kill some people there and then was a step too far ! Some of the points he made about men 'abusing' their wives and girlfriends and their need to repent is perfectly valid. Preachers need to preach more often about God's holiness and His demands for His people's obedience. But to act as the Judge when one day Driscoll and each one of us will have to stand before Him in judgement is a very dangerous and unwise thing to be doing.

This guy has a set of brass balls. Accuses men he doesn't know of being shit heads, berates them for it, then passes the offering plate. From now on, Mark Driscoll should start calling himself "A Priest Named Slickback"

People that hate on this video need to deal with it. This was a message aimed at his congregation. He knows his flock.

Wow! This was intense and insane in some ways. There were parts I liked and parts I didn't like. I like the passion of defending women and honoring women thebway Christ wants us to honor them. I also like the conviction of a lot of things from sex before/outside of marriage, porn, abuse, lack of connectivity with the spouse, and even abuse. I also like the kind of tough love angle of pushing males to strive to be Godly men instead of ungodly boys. What I didn't like was his convicting message was kind of all over the place. At first I thought it was about abuse but then he kept going and expanding and it almost feels like every husband in existence would would be applied to this in some way because his rant covered so much stuff that it basically felt like if a husband has ever failed his wife in any way than they are evil and not a man. At the same time I can't disagree with him because all sin should be fixed and repented of. I'm just saying he seemed to reach the bar high in that almost every man would fall short off, not an excuse to not be better, but a realization that no man can obtain this level of perfection. What made my jaw drop was when he told them to not get their kids and to pass the offering plates. I laughed cuz it was like "hey, all of you suck, now give me your money!" 🤣. I also laughed when he said that God might strike you dead or something like that I was like, bro chill. I also wished that his reprimand was a but more loving at least at the end, something to motivate you not make you feel awful. If this was an attack against abusive men in general than I get it. However, it was so broad that it felt like every man falls into his list. I also wished he didn't curse. I believe in righteouss anger, being an anger of God. However, that anger is still ours and we are in control of what we do and what we say in anger, even in a righteouss anger.

Old german adage: "The one who cries is wrong."

Yeah , it is a great help to hear men bashed that way in front of self-satisfied women who think they deserve heaven with no repentance. It is a great help indeed.
