Good to see you again Mark....any plans on making any more TV progs....loved all of your stuff...my fav was building the aircraft as I fly...also building the Triumph Bonnie and the Harley....and of course the E-Type....but all you stuff was great. So good to hear your a life long Landrover guy like me....although you started before me at 6 my interest started when I was around 14....bought my first and only Landrover brand new at the age of 23...that was in 1975....I still own it and its still giving Stirling service....i,m 67 now. Like you I put a 200 into mine but de-rated to DI spec...its a SWB or 88inch soft top now...Series 3...would have preferred a Series 2 or 2a...but I wanted a brand new one to last me forever....which it probably will.
As for no other car being as popular, i think someone should whisper two words into his ear: Mini and MG... As a very young boy i used to sit on the bed at night listen to the car driving up our road and guess what it was from the sound of the engine, then flick back the curtains to check i was right. I don't know how old i was but i remember wanting a Land Rover from the first time i heard one. I don't know if it was the sound of the gearbox whine or the tyres, but i was hooked! I've sinced owned a '58 S2, '79 Lightweight, '96 Disco 1 and currently have a '61 S2, a '93 90 on a Q plate, another '96 Disco 1 and an '02 Disco 2
