Thought of you right away when I heard the synth-y sounding bass. What a cool coincidence though - this was shared on fb by a friend of mine, I watched it and just thought to check the first couple of comments and there you are:D
@@g.c.5065 They're smart but not that smart... calling something "Performance art" allows an individual to smear shit all over a canvas and then tell you to ignore the smell ! ... and if the viewer/listener doesn't get it or like it then you're not hip.. something's wrong with you 🤑.. makes some folks doubt themselves ! No people ... don't doubt yourself.. your initial reaction 99% spot on ... oh you smell it ! 😷

Adam Neely coaxed me here! Incredible performance, but I'm calling it.......after Adam highlighted the date, TDAT (The Day After Trump), makes sense to place some loose stands and cymbals around and just see what decay and chaos you can create alongside the musical performance. Either way, who cares, really enjoyed it as a whole! :)
This is like science experiment with surprising side effects. Binding something fundamentally chaotic in to a form starts to unravel the surroundings. Music not only moves, it can remove! Dig?
It may seem hard, but you can tell the drummer is legit. Him trying to change the cymbals was intentional-the cymbals falling was not. That keyboard thing happened to me once before while performing live. I instantly felt like crawling in a hole and dying.i dont trust 2-tier stands anymore
Deantoni parks called, he wants his style back... nah this is sick but def check out deantoni I would say he's the true pioneer of this kind of playing
Gretsch Brooklyn's sound noisy to me. I saw on a Gretsch promotional video that Mark Guiliana got a set of Broadcasters. Better, by a bunch. But still, the real sound of Gretsch drums happened in 1957/1958 when they went 6 ply and die cast...It's good to offer different options to drummers, But it's easy to figure why the standard Maple/Gumwood drums are still the premium drums offered by Gretsch.
If what Mark does is simply for the music, it sounds like crap. If what he does is for the physical expression, OK, we're impressed. But if it's just for the sound that hits the listener's ears, then play the floor tom and make the same "falling down stairs" sound. OK, going to listen to Carlton Barrett now.
What this lacks in musicality (I'm sure these guys all hate this clip as it doesn't paint any of them in a good light) is certainly made up by the comedy.
You are so right, although whats cool about this is: it shows that even the best musicians can have everything go wrong. I've seen miles have bad nights, prince drop his mic and then his guitar came unplugged etc...
I ate at a little Korean joint that was right next to the Blue Whale, and had no idea at the time that it was the type of venue that Mark Guiliana had played. There was nobody in there at the time, but I remember the blue lights. The place is tucked into a corner of a balcony of a little shopping center.
The best thing about this is the Drummer.... And he's playing like fucking shit. Has anyone figured out if he was just warming up or if he was struggling to get the pattern he was looking for. It's easy to hear what he was going for, but why did it take him so long to do it?
Listen to enough free jazz and experimental music, then you'll understand what Mark Guiliana was playing. This isn't type of music that's easy to understand but that doesn't mean it's bad
@@agakunt So are you saying that if you're shit at music, all you have to do is wear a facial expression that makes it look like the dog shit you're playing is deliberate, call it experimental jazz and then people will love you for it? Is that's what's going on with Jacob Collier too?
