It seems Tom Colangelo was a genius, Paul Jayson as well, Mark is amazing himself, but he had some really good people around him. The fact that he protected his people the way he did shows he is an amazing leader. Kudos to you for interviewing him.
Mickey this is absolutely one of the best interviews from a True Visionary in Audio. You make of life as you may ,as it comes and unfolds and Mark is a humble Man. I respect his position and a REAL PERSON walking this earth and contributing on his journey. All for the LOVE of MUSIC 🎼. GOOD JOB Mark!
@@OCDHIFiGuy Glad you enjoyed Venice. One of our favorite places! Stayed at the Danieli Hotel and watched Pink Floyd perform from our balcony. Hung out with Duran Duran (I know …. I’m dating myself.) Another story … for another time.
@@OCDHIFiGuy yeah man. I've been such a big fan of his for a good 30 years. I didn't know all the corporate history. Makes me a bit mad at the pieces I have (and have had) with his name on them. :/
A meaningful bit of history on the field that morphed into highend audio. He mentioned John Curl who was Jerry Garcia's (of the Grateful Dead) electronics guru.
Damn….Ive never heard a detailed account of exactly what happened with not only Marks company, but his f’n name too. It takes a special kind of asshole to do that to another person. Glad to hear Mark not only continued going, but that the guys who did him so wrong aren’t remembered (at least I’d never heard of em, or forgot any names), and Mark is still known as a legend of audio and music in general. It’s quite obvious he’s a wonderful person too. Thanks for posting this, Mikey.
I dream almost everyday about getting even with idiots, but knowing that that would be my last breath has kept me instead doing and focusing on the new and creative - I haven't yet watched to the end, but I just had to say how much I can understand the situation. Try try again. Lovely to hear your story.
Mikey, Mark Levinson is the Epitomy of the Merger of Electronic Design Engineers and Passionate Visionaries! Good Vibes/Energy/Countenance coming from Him! Cool Man!✌️
Incredible insights from Mark’s adventures into the light and dark aspects of running very successful high-end audio companies. Greedy investors will always destroy the greatness of companies. I’m sad that it has taken its toll on Mark’s dedicated and brilliant coworkers.
Successful?? No his is a litany of failures. Too bad, you need to be vicious over 50% of the time too make $$ seems like he;s failed upwards if y he's living large In Europe
Berlin was right, once Levinson was out, the new Harmon brand, “Mark Levinson” brand was “diminished”. It was the ML product in name only. Back in the day, I wanted an ML1 and settled for a Spectral DMA 50. Cello + Duntech (Dunlavy) made beautiful music together, as i recall but pricey. There was a Cello store in Houston i believe. The interviews won’t be complete without finding out how Mark and Kim Cattrall got together!!!!!! Haha
Good luck finding anybody to fix any kind of electronics, fix-it techs are unicorns. Saw a vid about some guy in TX who was working on a, I think, Holo DAC's My advice backed by 53+ years of this addiction is shit-can and get A Topping Pre90 Japnese remote stepped attenuator, unless you're a glutton for punishment. And I knew John Curl personally, liked his white lines, no, not a Delorean !!
Mark Levinson is a great human being. I just wish he would make cryotreated tube gear too. I dont care about artificial transistor hocuspocus that sounds some kind of similar to music. I want class A single ended triode, zero feedback with 100dBwm efficiency.
@@OCDHIFiGuy Mark never said the word unreliable about John’s designs. You asked Mark about Dick and then Tom, but you did not ask him about John. John worked for Mark between the times of Dick and Tom and John made important contributions to the success of Mark Levinson Audio. For the sake of clarity John’s role with Mark should have been talked about. Like how did Mark meet John and what was their first product together?
