Mark Limacher is a Composer-Pianist currently based in Calgary, Canada. He is a graduate of New School University in New York City, and has studied privately with composers Linda Catlin Smith (Toronto) and Laurence Crane (London, UK). In 2013 he served as apprentice to composer Bunita Marcus in Brooklyn, NY.
As a pianist and keyboard player he has performed with groups and artists such as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Theater Calgary, and the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble. He is an active member of the Calgary music community, and also appears frequently at many smaller venues both in Canada and abroad.
As part of the 2021 TD JazzYYC International Jazz Days Festival, Mark presents the sequel to his 2020 video “Performancelessness”. Mark seeks to ask the question of how do those of us who find ourselves teaching music, impart the concept of “Awe and Wonder” in the face of the various endemic pressures of our technocratic age?
