There is some footage on RU-vid of Mark with a Raiders Tribute act called "Benedict Arnold & The Traitors" at a party (Ugly Things 30th anniversary) that blows this away. I've seen a couple of ML shows-they were big disappointments for me. The energy & vocals weren't "quite there" at those shows. If you want to hear Mark in top form find the footage I referenced.
+bobyee 1972 whenever i saw the Raiders on one of the PBS shows, it was always bittersweet without Mark. i've always wondered why he left the band, other than going solo and having a couple of hits. do you know he and Paul (RIP) had a falling out? or was it just an amicable seperation?
oldiesgeek1 Just the usual band stuff. Mark was moving in a different direction from Paul, and their record sales weren't that great, even after Indian Reservation. Columbia dropped both the Raiders and Mark's solo contracts. Paul was happy as a clam being the Last Madman of Rock and Roll with his Edsel keyboard and fantastic oldies shows, and Mark semi-retired until he did his Video Dreams album. They were always warm and close.
oldiesgeek1 They had a reunion with all the original members in 1979 on a Dick Clark special. But after that they all went their separate ways and Paul decided to reform the band with all new members. Mark agreed to some no-compete type contract and did not sing any of the old Raider's hits for quite some time. There was another Original Raiders reunion in 1997 but Paul was a no show and was still actively involved with his new band. Mark has said that he had tried to contact Paul on several occasions but did not get any replies so I think their relationship deteriorated with time. Paul continued to tour with his new band right up until his death last year. His son who joined the band in the last few years still tours with this band. His son is just a minor player in the band. The band still tours as Paul Revere's Raiders and is basically a travelling tribute band to the original group.
Wow.....Sir Mick Jogger has nothing on him.....He looks amazing........The music sounds somewhat tame though....he looks here as tough he just stepped out of the office into a karaoke bar.....a bit more drama and more reverb in the sound could do wonders.....
WOW.. I doubt seriously if i'll see my 70s and if I do i seriously doubt I will look this good..being drugged and poisoned for 5 years takes a bad toll on your body and mind..
This summer 2016 will be my 5th time at the Happy Together concert. Since the the tour doesn't stop in my area I travel hours for the closest location. Paul Revere and the Raiders turned me into a huge music fan back in 67. Mark Lindsay still one of my favorites.
It was embarrassing to watch this group of consummate artists running around on stage like it was some kind of Amateur Hour. Poor production. Poor direction. And there was no coordination whatsoever - Mark Lindsay had it happen two times where he started to sing, and the band wasn't ready. These people were giants of the industry fifty years ago. It's heartbreaking to see them performing like this.
+ajanover55 I was at the show at the MN state fair and there were no glitches. Everyone had a great time and performers were really engaged and engaging!
+ajanover55 Seems to me it was Mark that started too early. Confusing for the best when there are false intros like talking to the audience before the song starts. I think what is not up to scratch is the sound system. As for old age, (lol) Amateur Hour is irrelevant -- the proper term is: TIME. Performing studio recordings note for note LIVE is a challenge for even the best hired help money can buy. Also, the vocal parts are complicated.
+ajanover55 That happens with the best when things are live - and I think Mark is still a fantastic performer. He still looks and sounds great. Mark and the rest are bringing back great memories for people, and the fans are obviously enjoying it, as these shows are always sold out. Amateur hour? That is so wrong. Have you listened to Mark's CD from 2013, "Life Out Loud"? It is awesome. No editing, no computerized changes - just Mark singing with the band like in the old days, all new songs that he co-wrote with Gar Francis. Mark still rocks. I think you are being very unpleasant and judgmental with your comments.
