Mark changed my life in my first treatment center. I now am playing this in the backround for my patients to listen as they wait for their TeleMedicine Appointments...Three years Clean & Sober, working TeleMedicine & Data Coordination at the same program that I went through. Gratitude.
Jim your comment was so positive so enlightening and the higher power the unite our United Mine to the spirit that created everything just brought you through as a bright star that's who you are thank you for your comment it made me feel good from the inside to the outside
@@maryrichards8472 sorry to misconvey, It was just actually the DVD collection played several times in my recovery program. His message was the first to connect with me in a way I could relate to until I was willing and open to hear it from others.
Ive been trying to stop drinking for months now, I try to distract myself from the urge by watching stand up comedy. A good laugh helps to forget how messed up you can make your life. This time, I actually feel like the laughs are helping instead of distracting. I like this guy
You can do it @stax. With the willingness and a higher power anything is possible. Just know that recovery is possible and there any millions of people that are there to help. Never give up! if you need any resources, I would be more than happy to help you find them, for the state you are in.
@@anitakathleenpierce4420 7 months sober and going strong, I feel blessed every day. I almost forgot about this comment from 2 years ago, thank you for the support, and I hope this can encourage others that it really IS possible, no matter how deep in the hole you think you are.
He's a very good recovery man , I love all his stories and I enjoy how he makes my life even better with laughter, thank you mark"!!! I'll continue to watching you more n more throughout my stronger sobriety "
I have communicated with Mark over the yesterday. Mark you are still the best! I still have all the materials you sent me back when I started my career as a counselor. Your games are still used in my groups from time to time. I still show your stand up when it is a Friday and the groups want to do something fun. Bless you sir 🙏 🙌 ❤
@Douglas Carmody His board game that he made. I have like 5 unopened copies of it. I got them from Mark, before they were released in his online store. They are really fun. I used one in group sometimes and have given a few to other counselors over the years. I think I have like 2 unopened ones in the garage.
That was delicious. ADD had me running to the bathroom laughing like an idiot. Shared with entire family. Thank you so much for this hilarious man. His son is as funny as he.
I enjoyed the truth part about the Humor muscle ! Because that's true because if your offended by something someone says it is usually because you are being videogame by something that's real to you so you need to strength some inscerty within you !
I was in a “residential inpatient” program (which was more like a probationers boot camp/DOC Prisoner reentry program) so basically a level 1 prison camp, in 2010 for 90 days. When Mark came to perform it was the highlight and one memory from those 3 months that has always stayed with me! BTW October 30, 2022 I’ll have 12 years clean…..and only 1 arrest!!! 🙌🏻 🏆🤣
I was trying so hard to remember this dude's name. I watched this comedian while I was in rehab for crystal meth a year and 8 months ago, with Brandon Novak's documentary "Tomorrow Is Going To Be Better." I will NEVER forget those two videos, this one made me laugh when I was afraid I would be miserable and emotionless. 😂 Edit: I missed a lot of this video because I was in a counseling session when it was played, so I'm feeling REALLY blessed to have found it today!
Do you ever come to Alabama?? I first seen your DVD at turning point hospital 4 years ago..im still clean!! I would so love to see you live..I'm 53 too, working towards 5..bless you, thank you
This type of stuff really rubs me wrong calling non addicts normal it seems to me normal is getting addicted how many people thst take opiates don’t get addicted that’s the exception. How many people going through a rough time are able to quit drinking? This 12 step bullshit if you can’t do anything on your own is garbage
Welcome to phase #2 “Anger. When he says “there are 2 groups of people, normal, and the rest of us” What he means is that (almost) every hardcore addict who has ever accepted that they have a problem, has also wished that they could go back to a time, before they got addicted….back when things were “normal”! It’s not “normal” to build your daily schedule around whether you have enough Percocet, Xanax, Whatever….to get stuff done without being in a miserable state of withdrawal, having diarrhea, vomiting, trying to crawl out of your own skin, or even worse for Alcoholics/Benzo addicts….worrying about if you’re going to have a seizure, fall and crack your head! There’s a reason why facilities exist to TRY and help addicts get clean, and not a single facility exists to try and turn clean “normal” people into addicts. BTW, the informal dictionary definition of Normal:(Of a person) A person who is conventional; physically and mentally healthy.
And for the record, I’m not a big “12 step” guy….I was a HARDCORE alcoholic for 14 years from 1996-2010, around 2002 the OxyContin, Vicodin, Norco, Morphine suckers etc. joined the party…. I lost everything several times, in and out of jail/prison constantly, wrecked cars, actually hit a cement center dividing wall, on a freeway here in Detroit one night going 90 MPH….it was lightly raining, the truck in the lane to the left of me decided to slow down and switch lanes BEHIND ME, clipped my back bumper and head on into the wall I went! One morning I just woke up (hungover and remembering nothing as usual) and I said to myself….”that’s enough of this! I’m done with this BS” and I haven’t had a drink in 12 years this October. The opiates were a little harder to come off, but when I started watching friends dropping off like flies…you only have 2 choices.
You're wrong about "normal" people. They may not need mtgs but they're all effed up in one way or another. Everyone living needs God. They just don't know it.
He was guest speaker for a day at the rehab facility I just got out of (Skywood Recovery in Michigan). 8am-5pm, nothing but this guy. By far the best day there :)
I have been a huge fan since around 2013 or so. Wish wish wish he would come to cedar rapids, iowa. He is one of the most insightful recovering person ever!
Omg spot on tell it like it is", love his story telling, most of all I've fallen in love with what he does for support groups around the world. He has made my I.O.P class more entertaining and more understanding on how to better myself with my addiction. I'm still growing to be a wonderful dad to my son. Thank you Mark L.
I hope your journey went well, an I hope you are enjoying life. I don't know u from a hole in the ground, but I wanted to tell u I hope you reached sobriety an keep it. All the best, an ol logger
I got the honor of seeing Mark during my own treatment. So many things he shared hit home. Today in my journey of working in a treatment facility as a Peer Specialist I share videos of Mark with the clients and have discussion about key points he shares. The gift he has been given is such a blessing that he carries it to others.
Love your stuff mark watched it first in rehab on DVDabout 5 years ago because our speaker didn't show. I love how you put humor with serious subjects especially to the rest of us;) thanks bud you've helped me a lot when I need it keep spreading the word.
Always like watching mark anytime, but especially when I'm feeling down, 1st watched him 20 yrs ago in a little detox in my town. Was feeling like shooting myself all day, figured I'd see what mark had to say, thanks man, I can't see what I'm typing
back in 2009 when i was in rehab down in west palm beach florida we watched this guys stand up in some of our groups. he's got a great message and can make a very depressing situation funny.
Me too. Hilarious guy. I was lucky enough to meet him in person. He was a guest speaker for an entire day a rehab facility I went to last summer. That was my favorite day there, lol

So if papa zesheshio had a daughter. Just kep that jn mind........
I'm currently in a treatment center and was having a tough few days until we watched the humour in treatment this morning. I was laughing I was in tears I understood. You have made a real positive change for my recovery. Glad I found this video so I can share this with anyone who might need that too. Thanks funny man!
I'm a sober disabled combat veteran. I drank so much it was for blackouts to sleep/pass out. I'd end up in jail a lot due to drinking. I finally quit and held it going on for 12 years. it was/is, by far, the hardest thing I've done in all my life. I'm extremely proud of myself and needed to share and tell you I was the biggest critic of quitting and it can be done.
This kind of comedy is first a distraction and then a great healer. Stay with it along with the steps, the meetings and calls to the sponsor who is hard on you . . . one day at a time ! And deep honest prayers.
Very positive show in lightning realistic educational uplifting keep up the good work thank you for broadcasting this bringing this to us there's a bright side in the dark shadow and light always comes through thank you
He's better than some. I drove three hours to see him two years ago. Then recently he did a show 15 minutes from my house. I didn't go. I went with four other guys to see him. And after getting there I was expecting a really funny guy. I didn't see it. So I watched a video of him and couldn't understand why anyone would actually pay to see someone flinching around on stage while throwing his arms up and down. If my buddy Dave doesn't laugh it's definitely not funny. I guess I'd go again to see him locally if it was free. Not my own opinion the guys that went with me to the show actually wanted to leave early. I'd rather watch Eddie Murphy or George Carlin.
The 3 bods who done a robbery in the FBI files just got into a van ,as the doors were open for them,..... 6 seconds to get a million in papers !!!!!!! Moral issues to the side, as some of the jobs they do are clever
