i actually played DDD right when it came out, but the thing is, i didn't play BBS, didn't finish kh1 or even Chain of memories. at the time, the only kh game i completed was kh2. lol, so you can imagine how confused i was. also i probably should add that i was 12 years old at the time, and i didn't even realize some of the plot points until i watched some of thegamersjoints videos back in 2014.

Not to mention that the mark of mastery is to test a person's control over the darkness in their heart. If sora and riku beat on balls of light and sora fought riku, nothing would really be proved. We don't even know if sora is capable of using the darkness, much less controlling it, at this point.

Alexiiii well Sora can use dark cannon in his limit with Riku in kh2 but thats probably just gameplay shennanigans

There's also the fact Aqua and Terra trained pretty much their whole lives to be Keyblade Masters, while Sora and Riku are getting a quick crash course from Yen Sid. Unlocking the Sleeping Keyholes is something they needed do to, according to Yen Sid, but there's no other reason it should be part of the Mark of Mastery besides them having no time to waste.

Can Nomura actually out that information in the game? And not a file to read?

He has still some way to go till he becomes in sync like with Edgeworth in AAI1 where he reacted the same way as Edgeworth before Edgeworth himself did. It was hard to tell where Nico ended and Edgeworth began.

i see lots of complaints for soras stupidity in this game. i do agree, he was pretty stupid, but one thing that kinda ticks me off is that people complain about this one scene in the game.(the scene where sora finds neku after neku tried to give sora to the black coat guy) in the scene, sora forgives what neku did and i see people complain about it like sora was being stupid. if you think about it, sora is a VERY forgivable person, like with riku, after riku gave into the darkness, sora forgave him in kh2. but this kind of personality is exactly why i love sora as a character, he is stupid, funny, and REALLY flipping nice to people. they even talk about this in re:coded where sora is the one who will save the people that are "hurting". but he's is also very UNIQUE too, for example there are lots of protagonists in video games who have very unique personalities like sonic the hedgehog, he has a very 90s kind of feel to him, or cloud, hes a freaken badass/emo, or even phoenix wright, he tries his best to defend his clients. now with sora, i belive he is the most unique protagonist in all of gaming. because well he Forgives people. unlike most protaginist nowadays are about having revenge or they are pulled into a disaster that they dont want to be in involved in. (although sora was like that in kh1) but what im trying to say is dont hate sora for being stupid or just "too cheerful" (thats one im seeing a lot) also sorry for the long rant.

Nuel Heart Jup. The drop system is usually seen as a annoyance. But keep a steady supply of these, and keep an eye on the drop bar before going to a boss fight and it really doesn't have to be that bad.

BetaBran I planned to make a master post for dream eaters but I guess I'll just fill in the holes here. Ahem Dispositions are in the basest sense, a dream eater's AI, and it is what will decide how it acts in battle. (just remember that the AI is a little...meh...) There are four dispositions on each dream eater and they are unique to each dream eater. (only universal between them are the color of eyes and the methods used to change them) To change dispositions you have to (once per visit to the spirit menu) either pet them or poke them. Petting changes to yellow or green and pokeing changes to blue or purple. Also foods can change their disposition too. Dispositions also have a role in unlocking abilities, as there are hidden panels on some dream eaters that are unlocked by having a specific disposition. Additionally there is the disliked rub or poke that is the way to get green or purple. (Try not to worry about it too much as it frankly shouldn't matter too much to bother remembering but still). It kinda works likw the Pokemon Amie fearure in the recent games in that they prefer to be pet in specific spots and hate others, this is what can trigger the specific change but in all honesty, just screwing with it til u get the result (leave after disposition change and come back til desired disposition) you want. Also the disposition will change the abilities it will have in battle; these are viewable from the stats screen (only for the current disposition). Another thing involving actually interacting with your spirits is the affinity (the bar with the heart). Affinity maxes at 9 and it affects their performance in battle, it is why when making a new dream eater use the Dream Candy item as it buffs it by 3 automatically, speeding the shit up significantly. Also, the formula for raising ranks is based on percentage intervals and risky winds automatically raises it by 1. (1 rank is 150% 2 is 200% 3 is 300% 4 is 500% and 5 is 500% + risky winds which is the highest amount possible). The original poster seems to have said it in a simpler way but i wanna cover his/her ass just in case. Basically, save up your materials and make dream eaters wisely (using risky winds like the first poster stated). Then there's flick rush...basically dream eater cock fighting...yea...idk if youre going for a platinum trophy on this so ill wait until it comes up to talk about it as ive been typing for a while and theres still more to go. Now I want to clarify just in case you didn't understand, stat based abilities from the boards are only active when the dream eater is in your party, things like leaf bracer will be yours no matter what but things like hp boost and the haste skills will only be active when the spirit you unlock it on is in the party. Spirits can have multiples of the same ability (hp boost, attack haste, etc) and it is how you can max the ability for your build. Food likr the confetti candy will (besides possibly changing dispositions) raise your spirits stats, so horde that shit and make super dream eaters. Lastly I will tell you the best way to get link points...water board them...i mean barrel. water barral gives lp to 3 spirits at once and a decent amount too, tho this is just if u dont wanna do it over time as just fighting with em raises their exp, lp, and their affection (level affects stats but it also affects abilities like changing thunder into thundara). Also the paint kinda works like a weird spectrum color pallete, cept you shift it by shooting the spirit with paint balls...yay. In any case, my thumbs are fking tired and I still have another post to make so ill end it here. Also if you dont use the new penguin i will fking end you :)...remember that...

According to Nomura, the dark ball that Xehanort shot up to the sky was actually his Keyblade that he transformed into a dark ball. (But yeah, it was just to part the clouds and reveal Kingdom Hearts).

Nico mentioned it, it's because Terra and Aqua were properly trained and were already master material. Hell, at first there wasn't even going to be a test for them, but Xehanort insisted. Sora and Riku first have to train to be masters before they can receive the title. Hence, the process taking the span of the game.
