If Ronnie had made this break we'd be talking about it for decades, and rightly so. Mark Selby deserves everything he gets and I couldn't be happier for him.

Unbelievable break, not just brilliant but entertaining! I've never understood the hatred you see concerning Selby, but this break blows the whole 'he's boring' argument clean out of the water!
The guy can't do much about his voice, can he? And he would hardly be the first sportsperson or even snooker player to less than fascinating interviews (not that I find his particularly dull tbh). All you're really going on is blind prejudice, although in fairness I suppose that is your prerogative...

Mark selby normally gets a lot of stick for the way he plays. But even haters have got to appreciate that. No body comes close to the level he's at. Been a Ronnie fan for over 8 years but this is the new face of snooker for years to come
Oh I hate this "Mark Selby is a boring player" talk so much. This is the best example that he isn't. Let's not forget, it is a skill to win crappy frames and win tournaments with one's B game. And I think he has a much bigger fan base than he's aware of! Stunning... Best break I have seen in the 12 yrs I've been in love with that game.
This is literally one of the best clearances I've ever seen. It's kind of infuriating now to read comments online that Selby is boring and this and that, Selby has improved so much in the last 5 years its staggering. But the way he plays the game is the way its meant to be played. Not the way Ronnie laughing his way through a straightforward 147 as if it was too easy for him and then "botched position" or even "deliberately played for the pink", I'm not quite sure which is worse but he doesn't respect the game enough. Someone of ronnies talent should have won 10+ world titles and someone of Selby's talent should have won 0 World titles. Selby is the true inspiration and I hope he or Ding Junhui wins the title this year.
I think the neck injury he had made him even stronger. He completely put his game on another level, he's a snooker machine to me. Not too talented, but incredibly hard working.
They had this problem on TV a couple of days ago when they tried to play an interview with Stephen Hendry. I suspect something's amiss with their encoding.
@world snooker official; if you’re gonna demand that other channels cut a frame from their session coverage, please actually be competent enough to give us a presentation worthy of this caliber of performance.

Funny enough, he played Pot Quiz before this break and after setting the best time at 1 minute, 18 seconds, proceeded to improve his career high break at the Crucible by a single point
I’m surprised the commentator mistakenly said Selby used side to bend the cue ball at 7:52, given that there’s almost no cue elevation. In fact, the right hand side’s principle effect was to throw the red (to Selby’s left) to make the hit fuller than is possible with no side.
I dont think I've ever seen players actually clap/applaud another player -- this is about the most I've seen. Normally they dont even do that -- Fu is one of the more generous players with his applause, one of the things I like about him.
Poor World Snooker: they can't afford proper sound-engineers at interviews; commentary or proper camerawork at qualifiers; good (even just basic) quality vids at their channel. We should organise crowdsourcing for those poor struggling people.
I like mark Selby and he's obviously a fantastic amazing powerful player at 3 world titles in just 4 years.. a sort of Hendry/Davis domination... But his cue action is so boring although his shots are pretty good
watch Ronnie's 146 the same day he cracked it jokingly ..... He made it look so casual nd easy.... Selby is in form nd tough but Ronnie is Legend.... ;)

Namrit Mehta Typical Ronnie fanatic lover that cant accept the fact that there are other great snooker players who exist appart from Ronnie O'Sullivan... i know Roonie is probably best snooker player ever with Hendry, but at the moment snooker is very competitive and you can see so many fantastic players and Mark is one of them. Hes already a legend and it doesnt mean you need to stay constantly comparing them like if Roonie or Selby were enemies... i love this sport because i consider it a game of gentlemen. Very respectful. Sometimes you seem like tipycal football holligans discusing about who is better and also being irespectful with the other one.

selby is great, and most "fans" are not snooker fans but ronnie fans, so they hate selby because he quite frequently wins against ronnie. personally, I´m a big ronnie fan, but I couldn´t help smiling when mark made that sick break against him to take his first WCS. gotta take your hats off to him, great player!
Because he clearly can play at a normal speed..... but intentionally plays insanely boring slowly on purpose to put off much more talented opponents. Also look at any of his interviews...he is a zero personaliy weirdo.
