Mark Tobey: Between East and West / Moeller Fine Art Berlin 

www.vernissage.tv | The exhibition Mark Tobey: Between East And West at Moeller Fine Art Berlin is coinciding with Berlin Art Week. The show features twenty-five paintings, watercolors, drawings and prints and shows the development of the artist's style through varied techniques. Mark George Tobey (1890-1976) was an American painter and a pioneer of the American "Abstract Expressionism". Its influence of Eastern painting and calligraphic art: White Writings; known are mixed media works executed in light colors with abstract filigree and line structures. Mark Tobey was widely recognized throughout the United States and Europe. Along with Guy Anderson, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves, and William Cumming, Tobey was a founder of the Northwest School. Tobey took part in Documenta II and III, and was represented several times at the Venice Biennale. In 1960, he moved to Basel, where he lived until his death in 1976. In this video we attend the opening reception of the show, and Alessia Stilli provides us with an introduction to the exhibition. The show runs until January 25, 2014.
