Mark is the hardest working man in music with three active bands. Then there's Myles Kennedy with AB, his solo stuff, and his work with Slash. Those two deserve all the success in the world for the music they've given us. Seeing the clips from Creed shows has been a good reminder of how great a performer Scott Stapp is, too. It's a great time to be a fan of rock.
I saw Creed in 2012 and again last week in Chicago. Scott has definitely gotten better over that period. He was doing everything effortlessly, even by the end of the set.
Love that Mark is still rocking a reliable, dependable, old iphone 8, instead of buying the 'latest and the greatest, flagship phone', when there is no need to do so. The old phone works absolutely fine and does what it's supposed to, and I love that. One of my favourite guitarists of all time. His solo on 'Pity for a dime' was the first example I saw of how good Mark was, and the rest as they say is history. Superb interview, keep it up! 🙂🤘🎸♥️
My wife and I just came back home from Creed’s Concert. It was just amazing ! The best Concert I’ve been. I hope Creed continues to Tour and make new music. I can’t wait. We’ll definitely going to see the Band again next year .
I can’t agree more with what Mark said at the end. What kills bands is the creative control from the inside. Mark is able to objectively look at what made Creed great and say let’s keep doing that without wanting to just make it about him. Good stuff.
@@alterfloyd1 A lot of other music from Tremonti was also tuned in that range and I believe Tremonti wrote it and then mixed in the lyrics and honed it in later
This is a very well done interview - great questions. Mark is awesome and is candid here. Takes skill from an interviewer to have him be comfortable like this. Nice job.
The light show is out of this world this time around. Props to the guys and behind the scenes crew. Fire, smoke, show has it all. Been waiting 20 years to see them again. Took my duaghter and we had a BLAST! Go see them people you won't regret it.
21:41 I have waited so many years for him to notice this. From what they say they are going back to their old sound FINALLY and you can even tell with their latest live stuff that they have finally realized what people really like to hear. Stapp has been doing sort of a higher voice with his solo stuff and often when he does Creed songs he does it too and it doesn't sound as good, and I thought maybe it was due to his age, but hearing this latest stuff he's sounding like he did back in the day. If they write around that old sound they could come out with an insane new album.
stapp's talked about how people mocking his voice basically cleaned out some of his idiosyncrasies but i miss the yarl. it feels like with the reception they're having, and how much they've grown, they could release something extremely hard and get a great reception. rock has been dead on the charts for years & it feels like they have a wide lane to flip the script here.
I saw Creed last night in Hershey, PA, and they were amazing! It was my first time seeing them, and they've been my favorite band since I discovered them 25 years ago! I'm still high from that musical experience! I hope they drop new music next year and tour again because I'm there!! ❤❤
Was in Hershey as well. Saw them many years ago with Sevendust in Wilkesbarre in support of their earlier if not first album. Last nights performance was by far the better of my experiences.
Really enjoyed hearing what he had to say near the end about new Creed music. He is unique in that he is in three bands and writes music for all of them and they all have a different sound. I totally get what he is saying about the time to write new Creed stuff would be now since they are playing those songs every night and he is back in that groove and mindset of the Creed sound. And I absolutely think he is right, keep Creed sounding like Creed. Don't turn it into Alter Bridge or Tremonti. Creed fans love the clean intros and the big heavy drop D chugs, and he is a master at writing those riffs.
When Creed first came out, I lived in small town Kansas were the only "rock" station was more of a pop station. So I knew nothing about Creed until a girl I started dating put on their first album one night while we were hanging out at her apartment. Ran to the music store the next morning. When "Human Clay" dropped, I was at the store again first thing in the morning. Only I couldn't find the dang CD. Turned out they hadn't unpacked the shipment yet. Made the clerk go back into the storeroom and find it for me. Pretty sure I had the first copy in my town. That album was big enough that the local station finally started playing their music.

I loved full circle, but he's totally right they really went a different direction with it. When I go back and listen to Creed, I eventually got tired of the full circle songs. They were good but they don't have that re-listen value like the old stuff. I'll be listening to stuff like one, torn, higher, what if, etc. for my whole life...those songs just never get old for some reason.
This song is fire, I agree with him when he talks about FC album and how it isn't a Creed album per se but that being said I do like how the songs are a little bit heavier and how Tremonti vocals made them better as well.
Man, I got a chance to see them when they first came out and opened for Jackyl. They killed it. It was in Fayetteville NC. It was a smaller club and it was awesome to be a few feet away from the guys. One of my favorite shows. Much love and hopefully I can catch them in NC.
Creed First Album Took Us Back to a Newer grunge Rock At the Time !! My own Prison Is A Beautiful Beautiful poetry about Real Life For Scott!!! He has Been threw A lot 💔💔💔! We need New Creed Songs Put the Other Bands on Hold for A bit !!! Let's Goooooo!
Fantastic interview! Just saw Creed in Cincinnati Riverbend Music 🎶 Center August 2nd, I shared their full concert set in 1 video and hope to be making it to the Cleveland show! Please, please Mark and Scott need to write ✍️ a new Creed album and tour some more! The tour has been incredible! They sound amazing and Scott is better than ever, healthy and in shape and sounds amazing! Looking forward to more Creed, love ❤️ them🤟🎶🥰I loved your interview with Mark! Any chance you’ll have Scott on too?
SEEN CREED IN ILL LAST MONTH AND WAS HEAVENLY WITH A BAD STORM DELAYED THEM BUT THEY MORE THAN MADE UP FOR IT & WE ALL ROCKED THE HOUSE BIGTIME & WERE SO GREATFUL ❤
I remember hearing on the radio when Weathered came out, Scott (i think) said they had enough leftover material to basically do the same thing Radiohead did with Kid A and Amnesiac and that they were looking at how to release that. If thats true, i would love to hear that album. Not that Weathered is my favorite album of theirs, but just for something like that to see the light of day after so long.
I caught them in a small bar in Iowa City right when My Own Prison dropped and they were getting radio play. Everyone was so nice save for Scott Stapp. He thought he was too good to hang out after the show. He had ran off with some girls to get drunk. I remember Mark apologizing for him kind of scoffing at us when he took off too.
Am I the only one seeing he is still using an iPhone 8 ? Lmfao! One of my favorite guitarists, and a great human. Come on and upgrade so we can get better video quality on interviews! Haha. Great interview
My opinion as a selfish fan.... Mark puts everything else on hold and is 100% Creed. He has too much going on, imo, and Creed is magic. If they write some new stuff and its solid..... he should put the other stuff on hold, as should Scott with any solo stuff he had planned. These guys are too good to not put 100% in. Selfish fan....
@@RB-oc7tiCreed’s songs are FAR better. Look at the album sales. Look at the crowds Creed has drawn compared to AB. True, most fans don’t know 💩 about GOOD music….but they know what they like and they’ll put their money down for it. Money talks and the money don’t speak without good songs. EVERYONE knew who Creed was. Only rock fans know who AB or Tremonti is for that matter. Creed was H U G E for a reason and it wasn’t hype.
@@isaiahmarquez9717 sales mean nothing. Listen to Drake or Cardi B if that’s your definition of what makes good music. Creed happens to be much more well known to the casual music fan - because they were relevant in a time when rock music was promoted in the mainstream. They also make radio friendly - derivative (high quality derivative I concede) basic music that the average person can more easily digest. They also have nostalgia going for them. AlterBridge began when heavy rock music was not promoted in any way anymore. And, during a time of hiphop, rap, country and pop, they have consistently created more and more beautifully complex and often heavier music that THEY want to make - regardless of record company execs! This has resulted in a beautifully musically diverse selection of heavy and melodic and often-times somewhat complex songs that becomes more and more appreciated by us fans upon repeated listening! They have a few easily digestible songs too, but even those are apt to have a tasty bridge or guitar solo(s) to be appreciated by music lovers! Radio and media largely ignores them, but nevertheless, they have garnered a very large and dedicated following..despite the stink of Creed that negatively affects them (because the average Creed hater won’t even give them a shot, while the average Creed lover won’t either, because…? I don’t really know ? They love Scott Stapp???) I liked Creed okay back in the day. I never even heard of AlterBridge until only about 7 yrs ago (that’s how little media pushes new rock today!), but when I finally did find them on my own… I was mesmerized, and they are easily in my top 5 all time rock bands ever now! Most AB fans feel the same way! They are successful despite the lack of promotion, and the band is happy because they have freedom and musical integrity without a worry from record execs to try and fit their idea of making a schlocky hit.
He hates being creed. He’s k my doing it because the industry MAKES them. You can see it in mark he can’t stand being in creed and would rather sing Sinatra, alter bridge or his own tremonti band. He comes off cool but gets quickly annoyed with too much attention to creed. All these interviews you can straight up tell he’s being fake. In the live performances you can see totally he is bored playing these same novice level guitar riffs and same songs that are 25 years old
Mark has forgotten one thing. I watched Creed in 2001 for the Weathered tour, and the biggest crowd reaction and involvement, bar none, was One Last Breath.
You don’t just release albums you’ve spent time and money on a whim. New releases have a campaign schedule to support it - including press, promo and touring. When you’re in three bands like Mark Tremonti is, that’s even more of a challenge to make work without cancelling out another.
Unfortunately Creed is cack in comparison to Alter Bridge and Tremonti. Creed is like basic chart music, probably sells to the masses and makes money, but it’s got no edge at all…boring
Mark needs to leave Creed and stick with his solo stuff. I was at a recent concert of theirs and it was awful thanks to Stapp's non-stop preaching about god. Nothing worse than listening to an alcoholic, drug addict tell me that I need Jesus. Don't even get me started on 3 Doors Down BS. F those guys.
lol which venue? The phoenix concert was awesome even with the preaching. It’s not like I’m going to convert. Did it really bother you that much? Or are you mad because mark is touring again with creed?
Creed is My Favorite Band Of All Time and That's Saying a Lot. Cause I Have a Lot Of Bands That I Love from the Likes of Guns n Roses, Poison, Warrant, Living Color, Winger, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, P.O.D, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Staind, Korn, Limp Bizkit and I Can go On On On cause I Have a Bunch more I could name but Y'all Get the Point and For Creed to Be my Personal Favorite is Saying a Lot.
