That last sentence really shows you who he is, even more than the rest of his honest and well spoken interview. Prem legend and so underrated

Gary Neville said that Sir Alex Ferguson was very respectful of Mark Viduka and would give team talks specifically on how to stop him. Says a lot about Viduka as a player really

I played against him at the National Championships in 1989 in Coffs Harbour. He was playing for Victoria and I was playing for Western Australia. One night I went out with some of the Victorian boys that were staying in the same house as me and I met him and lost $5 playing darts against him if I recall correctly. I remember he was big, strong and skillful back then. He was like a giant compared to the rest of us. We would have both been only 14 years old.

Best target man I've seen at Elland road in 50 years of Leeds watching. Strong as an ox, feet like a ballerina. Brilliant, superb player. Great interview as well.

Amazing interview. Thank you Mark. Easily Australia's best and most underrated player. The mainstream media never understood the fact that he sacrificed himself to play such an important role for the Socceroos.

it is a shame that his and so many other players knowledge is lost to australian football. Great interview.

Viduka was a tank! Australia is still trying to look for his successor.

Grew up supporting South Melbourne, and with Viduka being a star player for Melbourne Knights, (our biggest rival during that era), I got to see a lot of him. To this day, I still am absolutely adamant that he was the best home grown talent that I have ever seen in our country. 18 years old and absolutely tearing apart the old NSL. His touch, control, strength, and finishing ability was class to say the least. What a player he was and it was a privilege to have seen him in his prime.

massively underrated. right footed christian vieri. the dink finishes, hold up plays, back heels. a big man with touch and tekkers, they dont make strikers like viduka, vieri, diego tristan anymore.

The most naturally gifted player we ever had. Even his old Leeds team mates said if he applied himself more at training he could have been one of the best in the world.

Mark Viduka is the best Australian footballer of all time, from 99 to 2002 one of the best forwards in Europe

As a young Australian with little knowledge of football, watching Viduka at Leeds is what brought me to the game and developed an overall passion for the game globally and here in Australia. It is so sad there has been no one like him or the other quality players of his generation come through since such a great era of player depth in Australian football.

One of the most elegant players to play in the premier league. I remember in 2000 when he scored four against liverpool. Everyone was talking about it the following monday in school, how brilliant this Australian was. We couldn't wait till the weekend again for the highlight show to watch those four goals. Nice memories. I will never forget!
