A deeply moving movie on conversion and humility which presents a profound meaning of suffering. I strongly agree, Mark should be nominated for an Oscar! I pray and hope more get to watch the film.
U rly think jeww backed cringewood would allow christian like mark get oscarr for his movie? Lol 😂 Christians are why this nation came into existence but rn country is jackd up with outside infiltrations
Actually, Fr. Stu was our Parish Priest in Anaconda, MT for the two years prior to his going into assisted living in Helena. He was so loved, and missed...✝️

@@joshuaknox2724 - ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?? There are a couple of things you are NOT considering, but then again, it sounds like you have not walked the walk of the true faith. ..... (1) Firstly. YOU aren't privy to Mark Wahlberg's charities. Jesus' teachings are specifically emphasized - especially during LENT, Jesus' teachings for us to give without revealing - so" the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing." That is bc if a person reveals it he has already received his reward for that charity. MW never said the proceeds will go to charity, but I have no doubt whatsoever that at least a substantial amount will be given to the needy. I do believe him when he says (in other sources ) that when he gets up in the morning he gets down on his knees and prays. MW has been talking about this kind of thing, his faith, for a while now. . There are PLENTY of publicly declared Catholics that don't give off the right vibes. (take Joe Biden, Melinda Gates, just to name 2) (2) Making a pro--Catholic/conservative movie is well known to be a TERRIBLE career move. Mel Gibson was very upfront with the gorgeous, young Jim Chaviezal about this. That it will severely affect if not ruin his career. Jesus also told us to expect to be despised for honoring Him. If you take just a little time to pause and think about these things, and ask any devout, genuine Catholic or someone of another Christian faith, you will learn that completely different principles than what you are used to in this secular world is what is motivating MW and MG. THAT is the whole point of the movie. What about the risks for MW to use his own $$ to fund this when he reportedly could not get the usual Hollywood support. ..? For that matter, what about the actual story of the PRIEST that MW felt was so genuine and compelling -that he could relate to, to such a degree as to make this movie that comes w substantial risks of his current $$$ and future ability too make $$. Plus if he is blacklisted, like others before hi have been from promoting the Faith ?? You have it all wrong. Think about it.
I watched the movie, Fr. Stu, I love it very much. Mark you did very good job, please make more Catholic movies........Thank you also for your faith. The world needs people who can speak up like you. God Bless you!
Fr. Stu was REAL. People could relate to it. Finding his place. Learning how to accept and deal with the struggle of life is what makes us closer to God⚜️🙏🏻⚜️
I want to see this movie. So refreshing to get a real movie about a real person, especially in today's Hollywood. Thanks, Mark. Keep up your great work!
I have admired Mark Wahlberg for years because of his incredible story and now to see him as the mature man seeking understanding that he is now I’m not only impressed, but inspired. He has implied that he is willing to forgo big budget movies in order to make meaningful movies like Father Stu. I would hope that isn’t necessary and that people will embrace any movie with Mark in it. I believe the pendulum is swinging back towards sanity and I think people like Mark can help make that happen.
Great movie, I'm Catholic and I love seeing this movie, I know the Lord works in strange way. I hope this movie is very successful. I'm a better Catholic after seeing it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. If I had any criticism of it, there are details of Father Stu's life that were left out. No doubt for keeping the time at a certain level. God Bless you Mark!
no one even mentions the foul language, “Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift” (Ephesians 4:29, MSG).

My husband and i went to see it. Great movie. I felt "Holy Spirit " with you. Plus other actors. Made me feel very humble. God Bless , praying many see it. Stay safe 🙏
I watched Mark's film, "Father Stu," in the theatre this Month. I did not see the power of its message coming for me, but when it did, it was a marvel. I loved the weird casting, never would have placed the estranged parents actors with Mark, but it surprisingly turned out to be a brilliant move. I read nothing in advance about the plot lines, and found it twisted and turned unexpectedly throughout. Thank you, Mark, for your single-mindedness in the launch of this inspirational film.
I enjoyed the movie and discounted the swear words because they fit Father Stu's personality at that time. I am glad his Bishop finally said yes to his ordination. I have a couple questions. Why wasn't his sister written into the movie? From several of my friends who saw the movie, we thought the audio was faint. Not sure if that was our theatre's problem or it was meant to be that way. Good job Mark!!
There was so much more that could have been added, including his two years as our Priest in Anaconda. People here could have added so much more to the information of his ministry. I'm so blessed to have known him, as my Priest and my friend...✝️
I wanted to see it, but read some raunchy, off-color language that I don't want in my head. Wish they could have a version that cut language out. I get that it was trying to be realistic and appreciate it, but also, I try not to expose myself to things of that nature- I used to swear like a sailor and don't want the reminder. It's like an addiction. It comes back to haunt you sometimes when you're around it.
We finally learned something. This know-it-all who "hasn't seen the movie" [was that dropped so we could see how knowledgeable he is?], Mark, how awesome Mel Gibson starred in the film as well!
Hey Mark, No kidding please. Think about this, "I MUST LIVE " No gush the events of a Vietnamese priest 13 years in a Vietcong Prison. It is soon to be published by Austin Macaulay. The priest is still alive in New Zealand. Netflix ratings are down, content is part of the problem. Mark, I respect your goals. Please consider. You could get a film made.
As in the interview with Bishop Barron, we find Mark reluctant to utter the name of “JesusChrist”, almost like he was terrified to be characterized by his Hollywood peers as, “a goody goody Christian”, or, by mentioning the Gospel message, being identified as a “bible thumper”. Fortunately Bishop Dolan, like Bishop Barron, was not reluctant to be labeled a Christian by listeners. St.Mary, on the other hand , gets unabashed attention and mention by Mark. And that’s a good thing, as is Mark’s bravery to go against the, mostly sinister, Hollywood tide.
"Every sinner has a past" and every human is a sinner, at some level or another. The Sumerians had a god Sin, paying wages [homage] to Sin would not lead to everlasting life but death, Lord Jesus teaches us. We are still sensate humans, and like Dalai Lama said in his Millennium New Year's resolutions: Approach cooking and love with reckless abandon. I personally am of the opinion people everywhere when included and taught with kindness can thrive. Does post modern world want everyone to thrive?
Every human who does not get labeled like a jar keeps all their dirt under the rug. This show must be for folks who need to think lowly of others. Let's roast Those Sinners.
This is a great movie but it’s so odd that even when Mark Wahlberg talks about who Stuart was before his calling it’s so different to what Stuart has said himself. I find it distasteful that the Roman Catholic Church will use this film to celebrate their church/religion. A big part of why Wahlberg made it is his religious beliefs yet they change the truth to suit the narrative.
I've noticed a little QUIRK in Mark's appearance ... in ALL the interviews I have seen him on ... he's always wearing brand new gym shoes. They never seem dirty or scuffed. IS this how he takes advantage of his wealth? If so, it's no problem here.
I think it’s just that he’s a neat freak. He said in this interview that he likes routine. So I suspect he’d be wearing clean, new brand sneakers. It’s probably the OCD in him too and it doesn’t help that he has a few dollars in the bank. 😊Good on him, I say! Better, it goes to sneakers than cigarettes and alcohol.
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do"...it's only a grave sin if you know and understand what sin is. Stu didn't know God at that time. God took a broken sinner and made him an incredible servant. ✝️
Can’t burp? Have gurgling noises in chest/throat? You might have “r-cpd” a rare and painful condition that involves the upper sphincter. The muscle is too tight and causes the inability to burp Symptoms involve Gurgling noises, bloating, nausea, vomiting and pressure in chest. Many think they are the only ones with this problem but more research is being done Please check out “ Bastian Voice Institute medical group” for the relief you deserve if having this problem * just trying to spread awareness *
Don’t like him. He believes he’s going through the pearly gates if he saves just one person. Well that’s not up to him. Your job is to spread the word not rescue anyone. That’s up to God. There ain’t no pearly gates. That’s a myth. So he is damaging Christianity and gods words.
What makes so called Irish Catholic special from any children of God or from people of Asia Africa, India, etc.... little contradictory Dolan...... there is no superior or inferior before God I guess🤔🤔🤔
Irish Catholics aren’t any special. It S just figure of speech, or a connecting point where the Cardinal who is also American Irish is building rapport with a Bostonian Irish man Mark’s upbringing. Please don’t take it personally. The Cardinal is just creating a rapport with Mark Wahlberg.
Anyone who belongs to Jesus' one, holy, catholic, and Apostolic Church is following God's command to unity within His Church. Jesus told the Apostles (and us through scripture) that He will be with us till the end of time. And also that His Church will be with us until the end of time. Why would anyone belong to any other, man-made church, or denomination?

Mark Wahlberg paid for this movie out of his own pocket. He funded it. His job is as an actor. Do you get paid for what you do? Have you ever created anything that people want to have or see? He took a huge chance with a movie about Catholicism. These typically don't do well in America. This one will become a classic and it is extremely Oscar-worthy. The film, as well as Wahlberg's acting is worth an Academy Award, so is Mel Gibson's performance.
You have no--and I mean ABSOLUTELY NO idea what or who Mark Wahlberg is. There is probably no other current actor in Hollywood who has a greater faith--and who isn''t afraid to show it and live it than this man. He took a huge risk with this movie. No studio wanted anything to do with it. He put up his own money to finance it. Whatever success it enjoys is his. He set up and funded, several years ago, a charitable foundation that helps many people. This is a man who isn't afraid to show his devout Catholic faith, or tell his own story of redemption and how Jesus and His Church turned his life around. So before you start showing any more of your ignorance of the facts, do a little research and save yourself from a lot more embarrassment.
you guys are so delusional hollywood and celebrities are the most sinful people greed and everything else that comes with it and mentioning charities is ridiculous its not the amount you donate its where your heart lies so you guys telling me mark wahlberg is special is absolute nonsense and there are nothing but devils in the entertainment business crew all of you and go preach somewhere else...
My admiration and respect for Mark grew when I found out he attends daily Mass whenever possible. He was set on a straight path by a priest that saw his potential instead of being another candidate for prison like some of his older brothers. The youngest Wahlberg brothers have become very famous. I especially loved Donny in Blue Bloods until I began hearing more of Mark's life and his admiration for his faith. This movie just shot him out to the stratosphere in my estimation. He will continue to inspire me.
@@sheilad83 Hi Sheila. I knew nothing about Mark but I have been a big fan of Donny, his brother. So when I looked up a movie of Mark where he talked with a Teddy Bear, I was turned off even MORE on him. That Teddy Bear was awful with a terrible voice. And when I found out he was the main character on Transformers, that impressed me a little more. But then I heard him on an interview how he changed his life because of a priest who became his friend. He didn't preach to him, he just became his friend who helped him get out of the criminal route he was headed and mainly, brought him back to the faith. When he made that turn, he saw good things happening in his life so he embraced his Catholicism. Both he and Donny lost their mother while shooting important films in their lives.Sshe was such a great influence on all her boys, even the rebellious ones that have come out of it too. I respect him more each day.
Cardinal Dolan has reduced his appearance on the spotlight in the past 8years or so. His is a very wise, thoughtful l respected leader and a good Catholic Church man . Please comeback to spot light and give more direction to the faithful
