The trials of love are a common theme in many highland folk songs. This “san juanito” from Ecuador tells a story of frustration and sadness.
Ah my dear, many loves you will find
Though never like mine, never like mine
If you have someone else
Then take pity on me
Ah you say you are leaving
Go and be on your way.
Love like yours I will find anywhere.

This group specifically, or just heard a group play it live? The song is very well known across Ecuador and many ecuadorian musicians used to tour the world back then to sell CDs and merchandise and such 😮 Theres even a youtube video on here of my dad playing the song with a group on Swiss TV from the late 80s. Was surprised to see a familiar looking face on the Thumbnail when I was looking for this song just to find out its him in his 20s 😂😂

i saw this group when i was a kid, these flute melodies always reminded of my grandma and during the navajo fairs, hearing this soothes my soul and makes me shed a tear :)
