Extremely cool. We're on 5 acres, but hit 10,000 trees in the ground this year. The BCS would be the perfectly scaled tool for our croft. One day!

@@isabelarriecheleave them whole and in the paths over winter. Essential early spring bird food in the form of bugs and caterpillars will stay alive. Trampling on them throughout the spring will break them down to be added as mulch to beds in the autumn. All with no fuel and time spent on shredding.

Efficiency - shovel directly into a wheelbarrow and work with a partner or two to unload as fast as you can load. Piling the chips creates the extra step of shoveling - rarely a fun task.

The truth is in the figures. What amount of wood is required to provide enough amendement for a 3 acres market garden ? 3 cm of wood amendement (which is generally suggested in perma litterature) for 3 acres means about 400 m3 of wood chips ... The time needed to get 400 m3 with a so little tool is quite a joke. And 400 m3 of wood each year means how many acres of forest to process / destroy ? Definitely not a good idea to generalise ...
