Cannot wait to watch this. I was also blessed with a malu it was a spiritual journey that I will never ever forget thank you to Su'a Peter Suluape for blessing me with this measina in Samoa on January 15 2019
Le tatau o le meaalofa a Tagaloa mo Samoa. Sa a'au Taema ma Tilafaiga mai Fiti-uta, le motu o Tau i Manu'a. Faimai tala fa'asolopito a Fiti o le tatau e mapuna mai Samoa, ae faimai Samoa na mapuna mai Fiti, Fiti-uta i Manu'a.
E le aia Taemama ma Tilafaifaiga i le tatau o le ga ua sapasui solo le mea a kakou. O keige e ko'alua lea e sau i le solo ae e le'o ka'ua mai ai Kaema ma Kilafaiga ia.
PlisDie sorry uso but this is just myth here is the real story, Tagaloa was a clan of people that landed in the islands of Ta'u in Manu'a and named the village Fitiuta the name Samoa means Sacred Center it is true that this clan were considered the first to land in the Pacific, the Tagaloa clan also decided which empire to rule Ancient Polynesia at that time, the first empire was known as Tui pulotu this empire was considered the one that was at the beginning of Polynesian migration to the east to find new lands to settle opon, Savaii is what most Polynesian today call home(Hawaii) (Hawaiki) (Avaiki) (Havaii), the second empire was known as the Tui Manu'a this empire was the empire that developed our Fa'asamoa culture and started a war with Fiji, from Tui Manu'a came Honorable Tui Atua and honorable Tui A'ana, honorable Tui Fiti(King of Fiji) and then the Tui Tonga(King of Tonga) Tongatapu(Sacred south) the Tui Tonga empire was a gate way between Samoa and Fiji after the War of Samoans and Fijians, all these Tui kings are Samoans kings from the Tagaloa clan who resided in Manu'a, the Tagaloa clan was also known as the one's that created the art of Tatau(Tattooing) there is something special about our people, think about it most of the village in Samoa starts with Sa(Sacred)-Papali'i Sa(Sacred)-Leimoa Sa(Sacred)-Fata You see each clan/Village was connected from Tui Atua (High Chief) Tui A'ana(Great Warrior) Tuamasaga(Son the heavens) Aiga I le tai(family of the sea) Samoa o le atunu'u tofi the people of Samoa are chosen people everyone had a duty in the family this is why we have such a strong culture this is also why we are the most spoken Polynesian language because of our name Sacred Center we are the cradle of Polynesia because we seat in the heart of Polynesia (E tala tau Toga, Ae Tala Tofi Samoa/ E tala lasi Samoa) the Tatau was a gift from Tagaloa and he's (TUI) Sons.
+Ratutui Fakest, tiga mata vaai so'o atu lou igoa. Se alu e matamata a ata a Fiti, tu'u maia Polenisia i tagata Polenisia. Fanau i Ausetalia ae fia ai'a fua talaaga patino ia Samoa lou ga'o.
@@tagaloasroyallinesheartofp3478 Sorry brother but Samoa does not mean sacred center because that wouldn't make sense. If it was it would be called MoaSa not he other way around. You are somewhere near the truth because SaMoa means the clan of Moa or the Family of Moa and that is also what 90% of the Sa villages in Samoa are. SaPapali'i is the Papali'i Clan. Same with many other village names like SaFune (Family of Funefeai), SaFotu (Family of Fotuisamoa). Saleimoa is not a family it means "the imoa is banned". So in this village the imoa is not allowed. So you can do your research what an imoa is.
Malo lava le soifua Lisa I went to the doc edge screening on Saturday 8th of June at Q Theatre with my little sister it was such a blessing to watch I want to watch it again I had just gotten my malu in January 2019 and this movie was just beautiful made me remember how I felt the emotions it was such an epic film detailing the importance of female tatau. We saw you after the film I wanted to stay ask questions but I was working I am so grateful for our people giving us the gift of our stories through tatau. The movie also inspired my sister to get something hand tapped to feel the au on her skin. Thanks again and this movie was just the best alofa atu x
people always confuse Fiti as Fiji. No it was how ancient Samoa differentiate between north and south. Tui Manua was the King of all Samoa in ancient times, and his Empire spread throughout the Pacific in ancient times.
The Tatau is from Manu’a...Europeans first landing in Manu’a thought the people were civilized because of the clothes they were wearing...little did they know as they got closer that it wasn’t clothes they were wearing but the pe’a....lol
So...the Tatau "pe'a" was meant for the women but was given to Men instead and the Malu for females..so these siamese twins..how were the separated because that's what the illustration shows that they are no longer siamese twins unless I misunderstood
something fell that was like a "Tila" -- I believe its like the mast on a boat that the sail is connected to (LOL) and separated them. Hence the name of one of the women -- Tilafaiga (Faiga = separation but could also mean spiritual/ghostly/supernatural) if someone else knows, please correct me; but I hope this helps.
Tara Saga it had something to do with how women being pregnant and giving birth and the hardship women went through to raise men’s kids I remember a pastor telling me that one day at a cookout 🤣🤣
Story is wrong, they swam to Fiki aka Fiji, not Fiti, Fiti-uta is a inland village in Savaii. Old lady said they swam to fiti and then went back to savaii?.. Fiti is in savaii, u don't swim to a village already in savaii.
Taema and TIlafaiga did not bring the tatau though. It is two anonymous women as the song says "teine to'a lua" but people always put 2 and 2 together and think it must be Taema and Tilafaiga but it is a wrong conclusion.
