Certainly it's expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. It is well worth saving for. I have played some other basses that cost 2x, 3x, even 4x the cost of this one, and I would definitely choose this one over those if you completely ignore price and only consider the bass itself. Also, I should point out that the price can be reduced significantly by omitting some of the upgrades like the fancy inlays and the microphone. The base price without any upgrades is around $7,000. When you compare that against a Custom Shop Fender Precision Bass for $5,500, it's such a drastic difference you can't even make a comparison.
