Marlene Dietrich speaks on French radio in November 1989 about the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The performance of "Ich hab' noch einen Koffer in Berlin" (with Burt Bacharach at the helm of the orchestra) was recorded in 1960; the newsreel footage shows Marlene in Berlin during her 1960 German tour. She is shown with Hildegard Knef at the airport, mayor Willy Brandt, and during a visit of the film studio in Babelsberg, where she had filmed "Der Blaue Engel (The Blue Angel)" thirty years previously.

I still have a suitcase in Berlin therefore I muss go back soon the blisses of times passed they are all still in this small suitcase inside I still have a suitcase in Berlin that remains so and that has it's reason in the meadow, it's worth the trip and if I have yearning, then I drive back in again It's wonderful in Paris on the Rue Madleen It's beautiful in Rome in May to walk through the city or a summer night drinking wine silently in Vienna Yet when you all laugh, I think about Berlin today I still have a suitcase in Berlin therefore I muss go back soon the blisses of times passed they are all still in this small suitcase Inside I still have a suitcase in Berlin that remains so, and it has it's reason in the meadow, it's worth the trip and if I have yearning, then I drive back in again I still have a suitcase in Berlin
