I love how Isayama's character writing is so good that he can turn terrible people like Katrina or Pieck or Gabi, or even Annie, into almost flawless characters that have sympathy for the people they've oppressed and redeem themselves accordingly. E.g. Gabi saving Kaya from Pixis' pure titan in the manga. Even as terrible people, you can feel empathy for them due to the fact that the reason they hate Eldians from Paradis so much is because they were brought up hearing the lies that Ymir had a meeting with the devil, but in reality she had no choice. The thing that created all life (Hallucigenia) just strapped onto her.
