Agreed. I needed to upgrade my iPhone 7 a couple of years back (which worked perfectly well still) as I wanted a better camera. I was so close to getting the 13pro max many times then realised the 11 at £450 new was more than good enough. So glad I didn’t waste over £1k on a 13
Purchased the M1 Max December 2021. This computer is a game changer. It is dead silent when working. I did exported a 2 hour video and it was quiet the whole time.
Is it worth switching to apple just for the mac? Stupid question but I'm geniunnely curious as to how good people find the m1 compared to flagship windows
@@unknownwarrior5672depends of what you are doing on your computer, for photo editing, video editing or even coding I really recommend to try m1 Mac. Now you can even play some games on it without issue.
@@unknownwarrior5672 I switched to MacBook due to the M1, two years later never going back to Windows. With that said I did grow up in the 80s using Apple computers, my Dad worked there for a decade+. Once you get used to the OS it's so much better and snappier than Windows.
@@unknownwarrior5672 I've used windows for years and used it for things like gaming, photo editing, and video editing. When I purchased my Macbook Pro 14" I left my gaming PC collecting dust. The power on this laptop is crazy and I bought the base model M1 Pro. Powers through hundreds of photo imports from lightroom and handles 4K video editing on Premiere Pro that I don't have to use proxies anymore. Something I had to create everytime I wanted to edit on my gaming PC.
@@kevinconroy6606 Won't call it faster or snappier. Rather it's like u keep exploring several softwares to actually complete ur experience (window tilers, Video players etc) , the things that actually don't come up with the Os . Meanwhile on windows most don't bother try searching for better tools as it comes with pre baked softwares, its more about the time and efforts u invested to map shortcuts for the app u downloaded on Mac.
I have the base model M1 MacBook Air and it hasn’t missed a beat in all the time I’ve used it. Definitely recommend if you are on a tighter budget but need a capable laptop.
@@unknown_vanity1223audio and video workloads are hardware accelerated on apple silicon, so yes. Even the macbook air is pretty good for audio and video production workloads
As someone who also bought a 14” M1 MacBook Pro when they came out in 2021, I fully agree with Marcus. It is by far the most solid and satisfying computer I’ve ever owned - I likely won’t need to upgrade for another 6-7 years at least.
I got an M1 at launch time and Ive still consider that as my best purchase decision! I have been using almost if not all of the apple products and I think that tops it all! I have my family switch over to M1 Macs as well ;)
yeah, I really like the S21 Ultra design a lot. Samsung had the unique and cohesive brand identity going for them with the camera module seamlessly melting into the frame - but then they had to fuck it up with the individual camera lenses for the next generation. The individual lenses are more vulnerable and collect a lot of dust around them and finding cases that fully protect them is more difficult, etc.
@@PrabhablyAGoodRU-vidr I still miss the back designs Samsung used to have in S10 series. They were so good! But then Apple came out with the camera bump in the corner and every other company jumped to get some variation of that in their products
@@krishbohra5536 I believe iPhones have had their cameras in the corner on every single model since the first iPhone, so I don't think every other company jumped to get some variation of that because iPhones have been doing it since their first. There are still phones like Pixel that have it in the center similar to S10, but I think companies are putting cameras in the corner more often because it is more space efficient as it is tucked away in a corner, and space is more important as the camera modules get larger every year. If you see teardowns of the S23 Ultra for example, the module is so huge that it takes almost 1/4 of the space. If it were designed like S10, then there would be space left at the top of the phone which could've been used for a larger battery, etc. And the S Pen won't fit because the module would be blocking it, that's why it is tucked away in the corner and they switched the S Pen position from right to left, etc.
@@PrabhablyAGoodRU-vidr i believe he ment the actual layout and design of the cameras instead of the general position on the phone itself. Not sure if I got my thoughts across right but oh well.
@@krishbohra5536 S10 5G (basically the first Ultra phone) is still the best looking android phone imo. It was the last premium Samsung before they went all tall & skinny with the current aspect ratio
Like me. But I don't regret it because I need an Intel Mac to have both OS installed natively (Windows + MacOS) on my laptop to run specific software from time to time. It works good, but yeah the main issue that it's very hot 🥵
Got an M1 MacBook Pro 512gb/16gb 16” $1,837 USD/ $2742 AUD clearance sale. LOWEST IVE EVER SEEN on the Australian market. Such a wonderful laptop, love it already. Keeping this for over 5 years
If it's an older product you may as well buy used or refurbished rather than new, I've seen the M1 Air for as little as $600 refurbished or $425 used (good condition). There's little functional difference between paying Apple a premium to get an older machine brand-new compared to getting it secondhand, provided it isn't damaged. The battery might be a little degraded, and that's really it as far as things you have any real chance of noticing. My laptop of choice is the Tab S8 Ultra and I got it for only $470 by buying refurbished. MSRP at launch was $1100. Zero complaints, it feels just like a brand new machine.
these last couple generations of apple products have been thoroughly future-proofed. i have no need to upgrade my m1 macbook pro, and i’ve been quite content with my 12 pro since i got it at launch. my 2018 ipad pro is amazing-they’ve made it hard to want an upgrade
Until one tiny thing breaks. Then you are screwed. Try to repair one thing on your laptop. You won't be ever able to repair these things outside of apple. It should be possible to do proper repairs with these things. Hopefully legilsation will put a stop to glued up shit.
@@TheRealPostpunkerDo you own one ? My buddy has a MacBook for 6 years and without issues. I had an issue with my M1 Pro, but it was fixed under warranty. If you are that concerned and want piece of mind, buy Apple care. Apple computers tend to be pretty reliable and trouble free. You will eventually have issues with any computer. If you get 5 years out of it or more, that is a win. I disagree with you. I see more issues out of phones than computers. They also tend to be used more.
@@TheRealPostpunkerI also want to add that as I disagree with apple soldering all their components that need to be replaced overtime their computers last long enough. Not being able to repair is not an issue unless their products known to be faulty.
My 2011 1st gen Air just died today. Between the m2 and m1 now. I vibe with the M2 design and plan to do lots of photo and a little video editing. I’m still torn though. The refurb 2022 m2 air in midnight is calling my name rn
I think that the M2 MacBook Air is worth it just because of the nicer-looking design. The spec bumps are also great. It also looks like the Pros. But performance-wise, the M1 MacBook Air is enough for most.
@@NateBluehooves it’s Tech illiteracy not to be aware such a company has openly admitted such in the past. You could have done your own little findings instead of showing ignorance
I upgraded from M1 13” to M2 15” for the larger screen. I’m traveling a lot and wanted to enjoy a bigger screen for entertainment while staying lightweight and thin
@@LorianandLothric good for you, its the opposite for me. Been using 13” macbook air for everything for 5 years and its still going strong. I decided to get the ipad mini since it fits a lab coat and i can use it as a mini book or a notepad. 2 months later and im only using the macbook for mails and casual shopping and doing everything on the ipad !
I'm a student in the Data Science field and mine MacBook Pro M1 8GB struggling with opened VS Code and couple Google Chrome tabs opened. Definitely should have bought more RAM. I'm thinking to buy M3 Pro, that will be the laptop for years to come for me.
Good luck. Most likely the SSDs fail and you are not able to repair anything of that kind of matter if there is not a clever guy who can rewrite the protocol of pairing that apple does.
He's so right about this. I have an M1 Pro 16in and honestly there's absolutely no need to upgrade. It does EVERYTHING incredibly fast no matter your workflow.
Great machine, althought the build quality of M1 MacBook Airs was not that great. I have this machine for a couple of years and the screen already shows the age. Few spots there and there... Intel Macbooks were more durable to me, like Macbook Pro 2014, but much slower and more expensive.
M1 MacBook air is definitely worth the money. The battery life is insane, performance is more than enough for day to day use and it can even handle some heavy tasks without sweat. Updates will keep rolling for years in the future and the fact that there is no fan means there is less points of failure and the need to clean the inside. its so convenient and small too.
I have an M1 Pro and it is still running smoothly. Quick. Boots up quick. No lags. Have not freezed up once. I can say this computer will last a few more years. Couldn’t have made a better investment. I jumped from an iMac 2012 and waited until the M1 Pro. Worth the wait.
Just got the MBP M1 Max and save 1100 on it from B&H, it’s the one I’ve been wanting for a while and now that I can actually afford such a machine it’s incredible! Hope it’ll be a great upgrade from my old 2017 iMac with intel 7700K
I’ve been using an M1 MacBook Air for two years now. I don’t recommend it if you have to edit lots of videos. Would recommend the M1 MacBook Pro or something instead where it has a fan.
Same goes with people who get the latest iPhones or Samsungs. If you have a recent version no older than three years, you don’t need the update. Unless of course you’re trying to show off, which we get.
Just bought M1 air very amazing Katie. No regret and don’t care about dressing at all and got it 512gb 16gb which is way better for the money than any other
M1 MacBook Air is awesome but plagued by the flex gate issue. The Apple Store says they’ll have to change the display for a broken cable that’s too short.
@@nazeefkhan4290 Its where the flex cable that connects the ;mother board to the display is too short and it sometimes breaks when you open and close your monitor on a MacBook many times(or to its full extent).
Fr this flex gate issue is no joke. 3 of my close friends have the m1 air and 2 of them got flexgate issue recently and since they got those at the time of launch, its a nightmare to fix now since they are out of warranty.
I thought something was up. I didn’t even have my m1 a full year and the screen just goes black but the backlighting is still working. It takes days for the computer to come back on.
@@mikeo.4203and that don’t acknowledge it. Because if they do, they’ll have to call all of them back. Got mine repaired at a local repair shop for 300 USD . They claimed that the screen is OEM from LG and the quality suggests so, however that meant that they changed the camera as well(the camera comes in-built with the screen panel), which is horrific now(very low res). And that is your best chance at getting your M1 MacBook Air fixed for a low price.
The quantum leap will always exist if you are on old hardware for a long time then move over to new hardware. I cannot wait to get my 12.9” iPad Pro with M2. People say it has minor improvements over the M1. I’m still using my 9.7” iPad Pro from 2016. That will be a huge insane quantum leap for me. Going from an iPad with the minimum multitasking to a power house with dual display support. I can play Xbox game pass on an external display while exporting an HEVC 4K timeline to an external SSD while talking to my brother during the game on FaceTime. Mind Blown 🤯
I went from 2012 MacBook Pro to 2022 m2 MacBook Air last year. I basically had to upgrade because newer versions of Microsoft office wouldn’t work on my old one. The difference was absolutely nuts.
Honestly I would buy the m1 MBA, but I really love the 15inch display on the new MBA m2. I'm currently using a dell xps 15 and i can't see myself using a smaller screen
M1 Pro Max is just THE only one. Got all the bells and whistles, powerful, can be used as a desktop, got all the ports. That’s why I bought one this year.
Although M1 is just fine, thr M2 has way more powerful efficiency cores. If you use power saving mode often like me, M2 could actually make a difference.
