Hannah Wanjiku Karanja, is a victim of domestic violence. She got married at the age of 16 years to a 49 year old man but unknowingly.
She says, “I got a job to sell cassettes, where I was employed by a Bishop, thinking I was safe; little did I know what was awaiting me.”
Tables turned and the same Bishop is the same man who later came to defile her and married her. From her narration the marriage was hell on earth, one that you would never wish upon your worst enemy. In their first year of marriage, the man brought in another young girl and they used to sleep on the same bed.
“And that is how I got a co-wife.”
She went through an experience that gave her heartaches but had to remain strong for her children. She got to a point where she could not hold it anymore and walked out of the marriage though it was not as easy as ABC.
Hannah now has a foundation called Ficha Uchi; which she started with a purpose to help the needy.
