Thanks for the response Bobby. I was wondering if it was Brighella! Thanks for the response. I would love to show this to my Year 10 Drama students if you don't mind (14/15 years old- in Australia). It's hilarious! Thrilled to find a video of a modern performance with modern references that they will really enjoy.

I love this! So funny. What is the name of the character who tries to "steal" Isabella? (With the spotty socks). Is he a stock character from Commedia?

Hi, just wondering - was this fully improvised or is there a script? I absolutely loved it and am interested in getting my students to perform it if there is a script? Please let me know!

The short answer is yes we did improvise the whole thing. However I wrote the basic plot structure or as it's called in commedia dell'arte the 'scenario'. There are a bunch of scenarios out there that are actually from comedia dell'arte troupes and some famous ones at that. In a scenario there are no lines just a basic "Arelchinno tries to steal money from Pantalone" and then each character has there own Lazzi which are comedic bits basically. We even have this today, like when Barney Stinson says "legend... wait for it... dary" that's lazzi in a nut shell. I hope that helps you can leave more questions if you need to know more :)
