Envy you Cheese for marrying a woman who'd let you get a Warlord titan. Mrs Graygor has a moratorum on new miniature purchases as the eldest sprog is only 7 months. So i must live my fantasies through you and dream. Or dream until he's 10-11 years old and i can give him the 7th ed boxset i bought a while back as an extremely advanced birthday present. I'm looking forwards to seeing the painted version!

Graygor If you need a spouse to "allow" you to do anything that doesn't involve her, you may want to reconsider your view of marriage.

+Graygor Mrs. Leakycheese is an incredible lady and I count myself very lucky to have her (even if she was rude about those cacti!) The arrival of children certainly shifts the priorities and the financial squeeze can be very difficult in the early years - I remember paying out £1K a month in nursery costs when my wife returned to work which really cut the luxury budget right down. Things got much more comfortable once they the Cheeselets started to school so things do get better mate. Hope that moratorium gets lifted soon, us hard working parents need a little lift from time to time as well ;) Hope parenthood is treating you well so far! Thanks for watching :)

As far as price goes, I've always been of the mind that with proper budgeting, and saving up little bits at a time, that almost anyone could own one of these beasts. I've been putting away 10-20 bucks a week for 6-7 months now, when able, and it's getting closer to the goal all the time.

This is just awesome mate😍 i explained yesterday for my wife that i had to have one warlord titan in my collection....and the response i waited for was "are you totaly redonkeyelous insane", but instead she say " that would look awesome in our livingroom". My jaw hit the floor then. Anyway, will follow this closely. Hopefull Forgeworld will release that psy-titan or upgrade-set or something. Need one for my Thousand sons. As usual,love your stuff mate and keep up the good work😉 yeah, the price is high: but this is something you buy one of and use a loooong time to build it. If you calculate the time you have to use to get it totaly finished then the cost isnt "bad" Just to say it, im halfway now in saving up money....but its my hobby and i love it.

Jan Gunnar Whenever the Warlord is lurking around the house Mrs. Leakycheese tends to give it a wary eye.... can I get her to have a chat with Mrs. Gunnar so she can appreciate how a Warlord can contribute to home decor? 😁 It will be great fun doing a series on the Warlord and it will give me push to get back to building and finishing the model. Thanks for watching :)

leakycheese I have to say this is a woman that loves my Alien modell that is over 1 meter😅 Since we live in a apartment, and we are 3 ( me , she and a 50kg rottweiler ) we have to be smart about the space. Im extremely lucky with my wife, as i think you are too. But anyway, regarding home decor: a very expensive plantholder( you make a shelf on the top of the Warlord Titan)......😃 Bad joke. A Warlord Titan is nice decor if you love syfy. Just place it where its safe and it can show off it self. .....like he should do😍 I hope the build bring you your with fun and so little frustration as possible😉 Have a nice Sunday mate ps: Do you know how the Warlord Titan are today regarding faulty parts and problem? that is the only thing im a little nervous about. Im used to problems now, but a Warlord Titan is total another level of a model😨 im sitting and thinking about ordering Acastus Knight Porphyrion just to get used to the big size with resin. Costs more then a warhound but I dont like those much.

Jan Gunnar You could use that as a book title: "My family and other titans". I have some fun ideas for videos on this beast, one of which is quite possibly the wackiest Warlord video to grace the'Tube ever ;) I guess I could magnetise a couple of small plant pots onto the carapace mounts to see if Mrs. Leakycheese will let me keep it in the kitchen-diner? Okay, your question on kit quality and building. My body kit was overall very good, with about 10% faulty parts, I will cover this in detail when I review the body kit (the next video in the series). The arm cannons were hard work, both the Belicosa and Sunfury has loads of problems and required required lots of replacements (the entire Sunfury kit got replaced) the Arioch is excellent as was the head and the carapace missile launchers. Like all Forge World kits you just need to ask for replacements if necessary..... they aren't going to let you down on a flagship model like this. This was the third large FW walker I built after the Warhound and the Cerastus-Atrapos. If you are seriously thinking about having a go at a Warlord I'd suggest one of the Cerastus Knights as an excellent way to get relevant experience. I found the Atrapos build was really useful in preparing me for constructing the Warlord and these smaller knights are like mini-versions of the larger kit. The Warlord follows very similar construction principles, just a factor of four bigger and all the kits were designed by the same sculptor, Darren Parwood. Hope that helps mate :)
@jangunnar9978
@jangunnar9978 7 лет назад
leakycheese Thanks for the advice mate😊 have thought about Atrapos and maybe one other from that line. Yeah, im serious😎 but want more experience and want to be sure I can handle it before i do the leap. So I will follow your advice😉 ( the Porphyrion are screaming "you want me.....I have big guns" to me😨)

Am just starting my Warlord journey! Have picked up a head and power claw and saving for body now. Yes it's expensive but I agree that you do get a lot for your money - to me the price tag and finished model isn't what you're purchasing - it's the experience of prepping, and deciding as you go what unique poses you're going to assemble it in. I love my Reaver and it took me nigh on a year to fully build, paint and base and for its price tag I felt I got my money's worth.

I was reading the entry for the Warlord Titan. Unless I'm missing something, it's only obligated to mount one Carapace weapon. It says "must take an option" for the Carapace weapon. While the arm weapons say "must take two of".
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Yaileen Matias What is your rules source as both 7th and 8th Edition lists state the Warlord comes with a pair carapace weapons? Let's play devil's advocate and assume you could take only one..... the question is why would any player do that as there is no points discount for doing so and it would put them at a disadvantage? In 7th the it costs 2,750pts with two carapace launchers and in 8th the cost is 4,000pts regardless of weapons fit. I'd like Warlord to have the option of carapace weapons like in the original Adeptus Titanicus game but we need the separate weapons values for it to work in balanced points games. From a narrative game perspective it doesn't matter, you could play with no roof rack guns at all: welcome back Night Gaunt class Warlord! Thanks for watching :)
@yaileenmatias3894
@yaileenmatias3894 7 лет назад
Calm down dude. It's the same Imperial Armour Astra Militarum book everybody has seen online. And you were the one lamenting the fact that you had to buy at least four weapon kits in addition to the body and head.
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Yaileen Matias I think you read the reply wrong, I was just stating the facts... plus there was no lamenting on my part about buying carapace weapons, I like the roof rack guns 😉 This is one of the problems with now having 7th and 8th running side by side... all the discussions about rules get confusing unless everyone is very specific all the time.

On the subject of customer service, I purchased a Storm Eagle from FW about five years ago. I had some difficulty building it, though eventually it was going well until one of the hull sides snapped in half. I sent them a rather angry e-mail (after some 6 hours of frustration and difficulty), but they were very understanding and sent me a replacement free of charge.

Bloody hell, why didn't I find this channel after you finished the build... Now I have to wait for the build. Great personality. Liked, Subscribed. Also, I find the complaint that wargames are expensive to be quite a cop out, the amount of entertainment you get from a model set is astronomical value to me. To build and fully paint 10 models, it takes me usually well over 20 hours, they might cost $100. That's a pretty good price for entertainment, that's not even counting the dozens of games they're going to be played in, and the hours sitting on my desk making small dioramas infront of my work station.
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Perry Fraser Haha mate, well I hope you will enjoy the ride with the Warlord. That's another good argument against people who complain the hobby is expensive, you have something to show for your efforts at the end building a kit. When I think of the money I have spent on computer games that turned out to be tripe there is quite a bit of wasted money but there are very few wargaming models I regretted buying and even those I did could often be sold on for a decent price. I really appreciate you subscribing and thanks for watching :)

Phew, hey big spender. I'm seriously jealous of that Titan. Building one would be a magnificent project. Saw one on Facebook the other day where the guy carved out those vents on the back & mounted some LEDs & a pair of model train smoke machines in it. There are rumors of a guy at my LGS with a Warlord, but I haven't clapped eyes on it myself. Would have to stock up on some serious lascannons to take that thing out... Solid choices on the loadout, always been a fan of a big claw on a walker, proper kaiju stuff there. That said if I was going to build one I'd go for Plasma Annihilator on one side & Lascutter on the other. Not sure what I'd put on the shoulders, maybe the missile launchers. You need a C&Rsenal-style "patented plastic pokey hand" to point stuff out.
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Brooks Sligh Wow, that sounds impressive, I can see the potential in this model for lighting and other 'special effects'. The Lascutter is a great weapon choice, I wish the FW would get back to making weapons as we have less than half the available options so far. The missile launchers are s good choice for me, as well as being the premiere weapon system for extreme range titan combat they can also represent incendiary and vortex batteries. I wonder where I can get a plastic pokey hand from? Thanks for watching :)

Coming back to an old video. I'm getting better with larger resin models, and I think I'm getting a feel for how to work with them. I was thinking of spending my bonus this year on a Warhound, and I noticed you said you had an older one. Now, my question. The Macharia that I have, have both required quite a bit of work, you can tell the molds they came from are starting to age. My Vulcan actually had quite a bit of silicon stuck in the details, that it had torn out of the mold. So, since I appreciate your experience with resin, and since you stated that it's best to buy your FW models as close to the point of release as possible, I'd like your opinion on if it's a good idea to buy a Warhound now? (I've also heard rumours the gen1 molds were all lost, so we're already a generation further removed from the master than we would be.) Or, do you think I'd be better off spending my bonus on other things? Cheers!
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 6 лет назад
Good question, well presented, deserves an answer. As well as my own Warhound I've had correspondence from a few viewers about recent experiences with Warhounds. It is a good kit, in particular the leg articulation is outstanding allowing you to get very dynamic stances. Overall it isn't as detailed as the newer kits and the feet are super-fiddly to build 😆 In terms of age and moulds, the small skulls on the toes and pistons are losing their definition, I could see this in one set of photos I was sent when compared to my example which I bought back in 2012. If you are in the market for a large walker I would also seriously consider the Acastus Porphyrion and it's upcoming Mechanicum stablemate that was revealed at the HH Weekender armed with the mega-conversion beamers. These are both modern kits with all the detail that comes with it. Final thought: Will Hayes is working on a brand new titan which we know nothing about yet. I suspect it might be a really big one however! Hope that helps... if I were you I'd wait for Warhammer Fest and see what we find out there. I'm planning on going along to see what I can find 😉
@Mikey__R
@Mikey__R 6 лет назад
Hi leakycheese, thanks for a very detailed answer! This has been a bit of a sad revelation, that model designs have a shelf life. Not only the Warhound, but the other Macharius chassis variants won't be available forever, and since FW have moved on from the Guard and the Seige Of Vracks storyline, it's very unlikely that this theme will be revisited. Now, we're in a different age. The zeroth generation masters can be 3d printed as many times as necessary, modern designs won't decay as the older, analogue designs would. This is a good thing, but doesn't help me out in my quest for super heavy tanks and walkers. From the old days of Epic scale, we've only really got two titan patterns that have yet to be rendered in 28mm scale: a Chaos variant of the Warlord, and the truly monsterous Imperator. Both are out of my league. But, on the chance that it'll be something awesome, I'll take your advice and wait to see what's in the works. Thanks!

Let me just clarify, you do not get a certificate with the Thunderhawk. Interesting reading the comments with people congratulating you, like it's a new purchase or something. I remember it featuring in videos when you first started the channel last year. 'No real rush to complete this', over two years later lol. Mine took 18 months from start to finish but I painted each part individually before building it - It's the only way to get detail everywhere and I'm quite proud of it being completely hand painted. You're very lucky to have the budget to afford one. Sorry, I mean you are a hard working family that pay a lot of tax so you should get the things you work hard for. I'm sure yours and Mrs Leakycheese's work ethic is rubbing off on your children too :) Personally if I had kids and a wife I'd be taking them on holiday and travelling the world making memories (no judgement mate and I'm sure you take them travelling). I agree with it being a niche product. Expensive? Depends on how deep your pockets are. I don't think it's expensive especially if someone budgets and saves. I put away £300 per month to afford just the body. Then bought the weapons later on. May I ask what pulled you to start making videos on this? I'm probably paranoid but I do find interesting parallels with our content from time to time.
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Sup3rSaiy3n Interesting regarding the Thunderhawk certificates, FW has changed it's offering there as the previous version was supplied with one, which is a shame and takes something away from us fans who buy these. Now, this makes me wonder why they have broken with tradition here? I can't speak for the commentators sentiments but I read it as enthusiasm for what is being shared with them, the Warlord is iconic and it's high cost mean it will always be exciting and of interest to fans. Tax... don't get me started on tax. Aside from the massive lump I pay in every month via PAYE there is the BIC deductions on the car, health cover and my company car fuel car is getting eye-wateringly expensive.... if you ever wondered who is paying for the banking crisis it's is company car owners. I look at the multiples I pay now on tax compared to a decade ago and I guess I can feel justified in having a few luxuries. Hopefully those cheeselets will do well, Dragonmaster certainly made me proud with her me work ethic with her SATS this term. International travel is not all it is cracked up to be with children in my opinion. The UK and Ireland is full of amazing places to visit and it avoids all the problems and hassles of air travel and logistics of visiting another country. There is also the question of age appreciation, I don't see the value in taking children to exotic places when you can spend a week in Wales at an incredible secluded beach with the extended family where the children can spend time with their cousins, which is what they really love to do. Don't get me wrong, I love international travel and have been very fortunate to have some great adventures overseas and am sure the cheeselets will have more in the future, but when they are a bit older to appreciate the experience. When I propose the Warlord kit is expensive it is because it demonstrably is. I have close friends with children who have less income each month than this kit costs..... affording something like a Warlord regardless of desire is simply out of the question for them. I've been wanting to do this video since I started the channel but have kept covering other topics and have sometimes picked up viewer requests which I have really enjoyed. Covering kits with serious faults like the Triaros and Coronus, while very interesting and worthwhile for the community I believe, consume a lot of my hobby time and have delayed me getting onto this. As I said at the start of my response the Warlord is an iconic kit and from the start was an obvious candidate for me to plan content around. Given we have shared interests (FW, HH, 40K) we are bound to have common themes in what we do on the 'Tube from time to time. Thanks for watching, 8th Edition Saturday tomorrow so an exciting day!
@Sup3rSaiy3n
@Sup3rSaiy3n 7 лет назад
Thank you for your detailed honest response. It sets you out from all the other channels. Yes I wasn't expecting a certificate with the Thunderhawk but to find one would have been a nice surprise, especially as the model is quite expensive and more than a Warhound which comes with one. The Stormbird also does not come with a certificate. Congratulations to Dragonmaster for her results. Looking forward to 8th edition but I'm doubtful I will receive mine today. Looking forward to your future content, especially how you magnetise the weapon arms. Just a heads up in the common themes department haha, I recorded my review of my Titan a few weeks ago and I'll be releasing it and a magnetisation video in the next couple of weeks after the army update vids. Thank you once again :)

@@leakycheese I know what you mean about the Warbringer. For me, something about the design makes it look sort of kit-bashed from Reaver and Warlord rather than its own thing. +jackisme 1993 I respect your opinion regarding FW quality control and it is a subject that continues to raise it's head - as I move into looking the individual kits you will see this massive model is a microcosm of the inconsistent quality picture the wider FW range presents. Cheaper than buying a yacht lol. I've got fellow motorcyclist friends who spends more than this on a full exhaust system that gets them an extra 10 horse power on a bike that already has 180 and will never see the top speed on u k roads. As you say its a hobby many expensive hobbies out there great video

isn't the Manta bigger than the warlord? either way I'm looking forward to how this goes!

+killroy v2 Possibly heavier and maybe wider and longer but a much less intricate kit. Thanks for watching :)

...just turned 40ish... regarding resale value, I've just bought a second Macharius kit on eBay for £5 off retail. It's unbuilt and hopefully unmolested, and I was going to buy a second eventually anyway. So, I've saved on FWs ridiculous postage costs plus a fiver. I don't know how much it'll be worth once I've built it, but in my case, I don't care. You can't take it with you.

Show how to make a titan like this out of scratch building. Since some people can’t afford this.

leakycheese Broader audience, people love watching other humans do shit in real time. I would gladly subscribe to a Patron too bullshit with you as you build this thing. I watch a lot of 40k videos, my job allows me that freedom as I work, and you're one of the best orators out there. I just think it would be a good boost to your outreach allowing you to give us more content.

This thing is only the size of a Master Grade Gundam model kit...at best it's worth maybe 120.00-200.00$ at most, for the price you paid for this thing I could buy the parts for a decent gaming rig PC. Sorry but I think this is price gouging, just my opinion though.

It's overpriced but not so prohibitively expensive as far as other hobbies are concerned. Also one 3rd party company makes a lucius pattern for a third of the price.
@leakycheese
@leakycheese 7 лет назад
+Kharmazov I'd like to see one of those Lucius kits up close or even build one... the pictures on Nuclear Swamp Games's website make it look a bit rough and ready in places. But then again it is a budget option so you get what you pay for. Is the Warlord overpriced? I'm sure FW are leveraging extra margin on their kits because of the desirability and market position: the question is how much? Thanks for watching :)
