I just bought a barely used DSL 100 for $500 US. The fact that I can really close to the tone that I had on my 84 800 makes it so worth it to me..I bought the 800 new with 6550 tubes and at the time it was such a beast that my live sound engineer constantly complained about the low end. So I sold it for a combo to shut him up..regretted it ever since..Now the 800s are pretty expensive..But I am happy that I have the DSL..It does the job for me..Thank you your videos are great..So many people make videos on these amps and sound like shit because they don't play well and don't dial them in properly..You on the other hand have similar style to me and are a great player so I enjoy your videos more than most.
Oh damn 😎. Yeah both DSL and TSL are great amps. I played a lot with a DSL 100 live when I was in Shining. Indeed. What I like about Marshalls in general is that they amplify exactly what you feed into them; if you play shitty and sloppy you’ll sound shitty and sloppy but just 100 times louder 😊. But if you know what you’re doing oh man they’re the best amps in the world 👌 Glad to hear! Thanks!
Amazing!! Thanks for this comparison. They are very similar indeed especially without a boost on. As a tried and tru TSL100 guy I really like the 800, it compresses juuust a bit nicer to my ears with the sd1. Up here in Canada a jcm800 2203/04 goes for around $2500 a TSL100 goes for $700 😳. I have an ‘05 and an ‘07 TSL w/ Chinese 12ax7 in V1 and jj’s for the rest.
Great Vid.. I absolutely love the TSL.. don't get it. Have been playing since the seventies and have owned many many many Marshalls, still do. My favorite now is the TSL, because it's the most versatile Marshall ever. I have two TSL100 heads and two TSL122 combos. Have never had an issue with any of them. There is no better clean channel Marshall out there. These amps take pedals very well. You can rock the Heavens, reduce amp output to 25 watts with the push of a button, silent record direct with the push of a button (which sounds great). I have a Friedman amp as well but use the TSL's more often. The TSL is absolutely under rated. Again, great vid, you nailed it Euge. Thanks for sharing..
I can’t remember if I’ve done a specific one but I do that a lot in general when I play so should be. Actually here’s two shows where I do that a lot with an 800 2203: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-woNUWEG6Gkk.html The signal chain was: guitar -> wah -> BOSS SD-1 -> BOSS NS-2 -> BOSS CE-5 Chorus into two Marshall JCM800s into several Marshall cabs.
Very nice! the tones are insane! only one thing to note for anybody who is thinking of buying one of these. You won't get these tone without EMG pickups, or active pickups in general. Maybe with the jcm2000 because it is a higher gain amp. But almost anything marshall is better with EMGs. Ooooorrrr Very high output passives. But even with those, you still need a small extra kick. cheers to all!
Thanks! Glad to hear! Yes you can 😎. Please check out my Tube Amps - playlist for videos where I use these with passives, singlecoils etc. You just have to dig a bit harder 💪😎
@@EugeValovirta230V ah yeah i watched that video after this one haha. so the 6550 power tube saturates on lower volume than the el34? my jcm800 to sound like that it really needs to be cranked. although i play with a custom les paul with t-tops. havent tried high output pickups on it yet
Cool! The other way around: 6550s have more headroom so EL34s saturate earlier. But I’m usually going for a preamp od/dist/saturation anyways and the main saturation is the preamp tubes (V1 slot) and I have JJECC83s on all slots.
I leave it of .I get enough fatness..usev1 Engl Tube/v2TAD 803s/v3Engl/v4Genalex Golf Lion and Svetlana Power Tubes. I can get a jcm 800 reissue for 750€. But i have TSL,DSL and jcm 900 mkIII. Maybe the 800 is unnecessary? ;))
