Just like I experienced with the middleton. Once you go post 80% volume, it just cuts down the bass almost completely. No doubt its really loud for the size, but at 100% volume, it loses the low end significantly.
To me, in terms of sound only (not talking portability, size, weight, battery), Kilburn2 literally TRASHES Middleton. The latter is like a speaker in a box. I think this may be deliberate as it's more outdoor-oriented, so maybe to create more "surround" feeling, they decided to set it like that. And maybe it does sound better outdoors. But to my ear, there's really no comparison. I'm shocked so many people do not recommend Kilburn2. I think I will have to order it and check myself.
I agree there is no comparison. but the middleton is studied for other things, not to break in falls, not to break if it accidentally falls into the water, to take it for example to the sea and more ..
I was wondering bout this comparison since they are same price. Kilburn definitely seems louder but the sound traveling in 1 direction to where the Middleton sound is traveling wide like a circle in 360 degree sound. Middleton is more portable but the Kilburn does sounds better. I like em both. They sound better in person.
You're right, the choice is not easy. The Kilburn has a more balanced/free sound and louder bass. The Middleton is smaller and lighter, louder in the treble but an elaborate sound
K2 sounds much better then Middelton. K2 & Emberton 2 pretty much have same sound which is why I'm buying second Emberton 2 & using stack mode feature. End result will be more speaker flexibility , better battery life then K2 , same volume level & sound as K2. Total win. As for Middelton, it needs firmware update release asap increasing highs. Marshall also need to make price adjustment , 250.00 would be fair.
Kilburn II seems like the obvious choice, especially since it is cheaper. I think Middleton is probably only better in terms of portability and that it can take a beating/waterproof.
Just get the Tufton, sure the PartyBox 310 isn’t much more and is even louder and deeper, the Tufton is not that big, put a fat guitar strap on it. It’s a quarter the size of the jbl and it’s bass is great down to 40hz (35 for the jbl 310) and it really only weighs about 10 pounds. It plays between 95-100dB effortlessly. Great battery life. It’s comparable to a good tower speaker for bass or similar to a 8” studio monitor. Better than nearly all bookshelf speakers save a few extra special ones
I own both. If you compare the two in person and not over a computer, you would hear this differently. The Middleton had far richer sound across the board than the K2. The K2 may be a little louder, but the sound was not as good. Just my opinion as an owner of both.
The Middleton is the best sounding speaker I have heard for a small room or outdoors. It was not cheap, but everytime I play it in my guitar studio I think man, it was worth it.
In my opinion the Middleton has an artifact / processed sound that I don't like very much, then between 80% and 100% it increases the highs in an immeasurable way. The Kilburn 2 in my opinion is superior in everything even if it has a lower volume, it has a clear and free sound, powerful bass (as I like it).
But this is the comparison,otherwise I like both. In fact between the 2 in the end I don't know which one I would choose. The kilburn is superior in everything in my opinion also aesthetically, but I like the Middleton because it is small and light and it is a new model.
@Passione Speaker from what I am hearing the Middleton has more deep bass rumble. Not hearing nearly as much from the kilburn 2. It sounds more upper bass heavy. But It does sound better over all. But I do like the deep rumble of the middleton. To bad the messed up the higher frequencies otherwise it would of been a big hit.
@@a.m.3118 the middleton has good highs if you set it to level 10 it sounds better than the jbl xtreme 3 i had the xtreme 3 and tested it with the marshall middleton up to 50% the middleton sounds better a little more bass
