Proof was playing Bugz, different member of d12 that died. That song is from Encore 2004. Proof died in 2006 and got shot same as Bugz, so the video is looking like Eminem predict the future.
Michael Jurrien 40 oz is the songs name I think that’s where he says something along the lines of your gonna have too kill me in the club or something like that
This is part of why Stans be the way they are about Em. The man went through real sh*t like this and expressed it in his music. Then you have people listen to a few of his crazy songs and disrespect him for having no content, while they haven't actually taken the time to dig deeper. Em is very human and for that he's very relatable, even to a black dude from SA like myself. Great song to review!
Yeah, I get you Stevie... Every damn time I watch this video, and listen to this song, chills run down throughout my whole body the entire time and can't help shedding tears. I can't imagine something this tragic happening to someone. Playing their own death in a video clip. It's extremely sad and I can't imagine what people who loved him went through, rewatching it.
What's amazing in this track is he put his whole heart and u could see his soul amd his emotions in this track. Used to be a time where you could just say a rhyme and wouldn't bother about one og your people dying. That part was mad dope
Seeing you vibe out to some of these tracks is just as entertaining as you pausing and breaking it down. I know it doesnt make for longer vids but you definitely let this one soak in. Good reaction stevie keep it up
Imagine the shock we had back in 2006 having listened to this song for 2 years and the proof dyin the way he did. I thought it was a hoax at first. It was crazy. Pure heartbreak for Em and us the fans.
That Hopsin interview tease was unreal, glad to have seen your channel blow up (I remember getting around when you had a couple thousand) because it was always the best rap reaction channel. Unreal to see you get to interview Hop now too. Even if you don't read it, congrats man.
I've been going back and listening to Recovery. He has so many different flows and cadences and it's his first sober album. That song he does with Weezy is fire
The fact that Proof portrayed Bugz dying a year before Proof died in a club shooting is super eerie. (Bugz died in 1999 at a picnic shooting.) Perhaps far more spooky is the music video I Ain't Mad At Cha by Tupac, in which Tupac portrays himself being shot to death outside of a hotel. The music video was released September 18, 1996, two days after he died in real life from the shooting at the Las Vegas strip. The music video was recorded in May.
“Who you think I'm talking 'bout? Lifts me up when I'm down and out, Still look to him without a doubt.” When you have proof, you can have no doubt. So. Fucking. Hard. 🔥🐐🔥 RIP Proof
The man can even react to the raw emotion that is embedded into every line. This is the most silent I've ever seen Mr. knight on a song. It's a true heartbreaking story and not for commercial talk tbh.
Yeah they're referring to bugz death, and had proof playing bugz. After bugs dies em stated in his memoir "the way i am" "I would stare at the ceiling and think about that video. Did karma cause that to happen in real life? Did I? You always want to point the finger at somebody else when something like that happens, you know?"
Eminem has said this video haunts him, I think he mentions it in Castle and Arose. He wasn't there when proof died but it's like he still saw it happen.
Man, I've been waiting for the one since I started watching your reacts. This just hits home cause its like Em wrote the script for Proof but the whole purpose of the song was to do the opposite.
it would be hard for me to watch if i was eminem hell it hurts me to watch it almost brings tears to my eyes i’m 41 i grew up on ems career and everything around it
I remember everyone freaking out saying Eminem predicted proofs death. Even though proof was acting as bugz for the video its still crazy coincidental. Imagine how Eminem must have felt after this.
This is called synchronicity. It's no different when you think of a song you haven't heard in 20 years and then hear it suddenly on the radio, or if you keep seeing the same number over and over again. There's no such thing as a coincidence. Synchronicity is how the universe operates. It's how we operate. As your self awareness grows, you will notice that synchronicities happen ALL the time. Synchronicity shows that what happened was ment to happen.
Stevie you should do difficult, then revisit castle/arose. The end of castle then into arose, it all hits harder when you fully know what he's been thru.
That was a surprise to see he interviewed Hopsin, that's pretty cool, would like to see that (plus Hopsin is a big fan of Eminem so think there could be some interesting discussion there)
I believe Buggs is who proof was playing if I’m not mistaken, Also remember in best friend when Em said the doctors couldn’t shiggity shock you back to like and that really was proof same as this video
Has he done Rabbit Run yet? I couldn't find it. I mean a guy only has so much time, and there's a lot of good Eminem... but all the same, that would be a good one to watch
There’s an underground song by Eminem called “difficult” which is a tribute to Proof after he died. It’s a super rough song where he goes into the history they had together. You can really hear his pain - he wasn’t in a good state during this. Super sad and definitely worth listening to as a follow up to this. You’ll like it, Stevie.
But remember, it was an exchange of gunfire that brought Proof to his demise. He fired at someone (some dude), and someone fired at him after he fired at that dude (security), but still, when u see the video and remember, he died from gunfire, yeah, I get it.
That proof shit was crazy, I think that's what em was referring to in arose when he says me laying across your body not able to stand to save you like it made me visualize this video and I'm sure eminem sees it too unless he was around like legit seen him on the table idk but yeah it is crazy
Apparently its about honour! People who shoot each other over stupidness know no honour. Real soldier's dying for thier country, they honour us. These people know no honour.
It’s crazy cause a lot of musician deaths have been predicted. Ona lynyrd skynyrd album fire touched the legs of the two ppl that died in their plan crash they pulled the cover and re-released it
This video is part of why Em couldn't sleep at night and starting abusing pills. He couldn't get the images out of his head. Re listen to Arose. "I have to walk down my walls and be reminded of pictures all on my walls, *and I couldn't sleep at night cause, that image burned in my brain of you on that table, me falling across your body not able to stand to save you."*
Someone should've warned you about that. I heard the song a lot, before watching the video, but once I did... My reaction was the same as yours and looked it up, and I got chills, and wondered how Em felt after Proof really died. It gets me watching you. Anyways.
The understanding of Proof's role in the video is not understandable unless you know who Bugz was, who the show with at then end where Stevie says he does not know Bugz "is." Bugz was a member of The Dirty Dozens which is D-12 prior to signing with Shady Records. Bugz was at a park in 1999 with a friend and the friend's female friend. A guy in the park shot the female with a high power water gun and she was pissed. The friend and the guy got into it and Bugz either stepped in to break the fight up or help kick the guys ass (depends on whose version of the story you believe). The guy's friend responded by going to his vehicle, got a gun, returned and shot at Bugz from behind then two more time (chest and neck) close up. Then he went back to his car and ran Bugz over. Bugz died in the emergency room. The video was not about the death of Bugz although some of elements of the song would include in the fact he was rapper who was killed. In the video the role Proof played a rapper getting shot leaving out a building, not Bugz being killed. EMINEM was saying hip hop artists were being played like toy soldiers by label executives do not try and end beef between artists, instead they wind the up and play them like they are toy soldiers. Em' says in the song as an Shady executive he did the opposite and tried to squash 50 and Ja's beef as well as Dre. He says his artist look to him for guidance and why would he destroy something/someone he help build up by sitting back and let 50, Ja, and Benzino beef esculate to where someone is killed or imprisoned? Em was not even in the beef, but then Ja and Benzino took it too far when they put his daughter in a song and threatening her. Em says he lost it and only made shit worse be he was to busy being pissed off to stop and think. Basically saying he fucked up, set a bad example to his artists and hip hop and if all these beefs in hip hop continue to go further and further it will end up with another dead rapper and it happening way to much so he is saying he is not coping a plea nor does he want someone death on his conscience so he will be the bigger man and say lets squash this shit. He was talking to his camp as well as Ja's and in the song he say he loves his camp to much to be waiting to hear the verdict. Lets stop this beef. At the end of the song he says if we don't stop this beef that WE ALL will fall over like toy soldiers. Another BIG point, this is the song that going forward Em began to shot other rappers out and pay homage to those that influenced him and support him. In the song he says that we all have soldiers that has our back so we should give a shotout in a verse or chorus.
