I only see people mentioning J.Cole and Marshawn Lynch, and I understand why but, it's about time people start recognizing Ryan Coogler. He's a director, producer, and screenwriter. He's the man behind Black Panther, Creed I, and Fruitvale Station! Young and talented. He deserves some respect on his name!
Briantinashaè Well he kinda had a part in Creed 2, as he had involvement with who would be the director(being another African American director as well if I recall). Edited
I’m real upset everyone keeps sayin “the interviewer”! Like that ain’t Ryan Coogler! The director of Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther! Come on y’all! 🙌🏿
It’s dope that Ryan was stuttering, that gives so many kids with a stutter to have the courage to actually wanna speak up now. JUST because he did it in that atmosphere. I respect him for that.
Yeah didn't think about it. You right! I saw something that upset me on Facebook a guy filmed his friend who has a stutter, upset by traffic and he put that online, it broke my heart seeing people lol that.
@@mrsoshadabaadmanOooh yes. I got one. It broke your heart to see people laughing at someone with a stutter. A stutter is a common issue, I don't think your heart needed to break over something so simple as people laughing. At something I'm certain was funny. People like you are gonna ruin things to the point that we can't laugh at ourselves as humans. We ain't perfect and should be allowed to laugh at our differences as long as it doesn't get too personal. Take a chill pill and realize it ain't that big a deal bruh.
Cole and Marshawn are easily two of the most influential people of this generation 💯 I love the fact that they both are so humble and unapologetically real when they speak 🤷🏿♂️
people are often quick to knock marshawn based on the way he walks and talks, calling him simple minded. but the dude went from being practically broke his whole youth to making millions and was smart enough not to blow through it like an idiot. hes clearly alot more cerebral than he gets credit for.
Marshawn went to the most respected public university outside the United States…in Asia it’s like getting into MIT…and if you listen to Nagee Harris…Damian Lillard…you see the Bay Area vibe. Thoughtful, respectful and hardship endured but no hard edges…no code switching just totally authentic, open minded and deeply thoughtful. My favorite conversations are between Stanford and Cal Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch…🙏😇
I’ve always loved Ryan Cooglers authenticity and the fact that he doesn’t ‘code switch’. And he still is tremendously successful. And he’s dope here because no one is looking for him to be Sway. Just brothers haven informative conversation ya dig. Peace be to all. 💯✌🏾
He doesn't have to because he doesn't sound like a buffoon that doesn't know how to talk. People only code switch to enhance the way people perceive them. You don't need to be perceived differently if you are confident in who you are.
Emmanuel Toluhi trust marshawn got jewelry you think just because he for the people that he ain’t got ice. He’s just most conscious with it I think his most notable piece is a chain with the continent of Africa as the center piece
We come from greatness our ancient African ancestors wore ridiculous amounts of gold . The kings of Ghana and Nigerian chiefs all were insane amounts of gold pieces this what our ancient Egyptians ancestors wore and was buried with we invented wearing “Chains” and jewelry as well as make up
We need this on OUR own platform. Without the time constraints. Bc this is a conversation that WE need to hear and that WE need to have. Ryan set that up!!
You get Ryan Coogler....J. Cole.... and Marshawn Lynch in a round table conversation ..... and you’re wrapping up at 35 minutes !?!?! Whaaaaaat thee F!!!!! Bruh I’m hot. This shxt should have been 2 hours MINIMUM smfh unreal.
Hella dope! Ryan, Marshawn and J.Cole had such a legit vibe. They also had a cool connection. Didn’t think I was gonna watch the entire 36mins but I did! Awesome job!
Everclear google it. Specifically, from my experience how mars hawk meant it coming from an urban narrow minded slang talking background then going to college then corporate world having to adjust values, language, thinking patterns for survival. It’s balancing 2 or more cultures.
@@jasonnix7833 Like acting professional in your work environment is a bad thing that why people say i'm acting in a professional capacity or personal capacity? I don't get it
@Jaguar Money let me help you out cause I know what your sayin but it is confusin... the ability to adapt to environments is key for anything to survive on this planet from bacteria to lizards to humans right?... SO to "code switch" or adapt to environment which I think is a better word for it; does, in fact, make you question yaself internally, it makes you compare who you are or used to be/act it makes you see how you used to live and makes you then change your values & language or if you're Marshawn makes you elevate your level of talent to where it's unavoidable (in his case) So he didnt have to code-switch. But w/ that said there aren't any ppl of color who talk act like MArshawn in real life at the office LBH. So blk college grads who code switched out of adaptation Its hell b/c you no longer relate on a passionate level to those you used to and it hurts for a few reasons 1.) you want them to see the change in you that you made in yaself as positive but they dont so boundaries start to build. 2.) when you talk you're speech may sound different so when you try to inspire it comes off as better than thou or a competition. 3.) You tend to get mad b/c they should do more action than talk about aspirations. Or the flip side corporate or career wise we/ blk college grads (blk men & women) are scared of not having the proper investment from employment so it leaves us w/ no where to run to for real support for when we feel like career wise we arent making strides, so it truly does leave you in limbo when code switchin... i wouldn't call it code-switching its simply called growth and not enough blk men and women are afforded that simple luxury to truly grow from a career standpoint UNLESS it's in ENTERTAINMENT (music, sports)instead teh average blk man/woman are shackled and pidgeon held career wise, how America will always want it, unless you come off non-threatenein to their job position. Marshawn is a perfect example of stayin tru to who you are and making money and pleasing corporate all at the same time to where your stock/rep goes up and doesn't suffer. I know we think big tough football player but, it's Lynch's mannerism and speech that make him charming to white america, not gon front they see him as uneducated despite pop belief jus listen cause it's true if ya listenin...EVERY BLK MAN or WOMAN who ever tried makin positive advancements for his/her culture or community that were EDUCATED were murdered achievement/accolades were stuffed under a rug b/c it's TOO threatening to WHITE Amercia. It's mostly blks who go to college and have lil success there after, those we spoke about whose speech patterns & etiquette change a touch to survive to become in their efforts more likable/ approachable hoping to make some real financial changes to help others, it's them that learn all this soon after and preach opening blk owned things but look how government treats small businesses now, so many fee's damn near makes it IMPOSSIBLE to make enough back during tax season and the better your company the larger these invisible fee's get. THE SYSTEM is legit designed to keep us from helping one another cause then we become a THREAT.. I hope y'all keepin up w/ me. So yes...they see LYnch as uneducated and It works for Lynch b/c it's charming and he knows all this. To have a grown man who still talk like he in the hood errday w/ millions and he didnt sell drugs.... you think white america dont notice that??? White America finds this primal but acceptable b/c they DON"T FEEL THREATENED by him yet, college educated blks FRIGHTEN WHITE AMERICA. WE knO to much, LYNCH don't come off like he knows to much...but COle does...and in everyday life he would suffer like the rest of us who are woke but average. Stay blessed and woke y'all the key is to save save save save save save, and buy property outside the US... that's all I will say
Yeah IMO it’s not needed, long as you get your point across it’s fine. There’s a difference between making someone comfortable and conversing in the fashion your custom too. Some black folk just want to fit in.
@@edwardbrown7280 nah bro i bet your post was filled with all kinds of intelligence but i dont like how your first response went to a rerouting of my words. Codeswitching was what marshawn mentioned and what i commented on. NOT adapting to environments. there was a specific lane that Marshawn was in when he said it and you in a different lane. The strong will survive but just because someone is strong doesnt mean that they are not at a disadvantage.
Thinking about what was said here, most celebrated career options for young Black American men like sports and music are careers that end in premature retirement. It’s like life ends at 30 and they’re lost or trying to relive the glory of their short lived career. That is a vicious cycle within itself. I haven’t seen Ryan Coogler speak much, but he did an awesome job pushing through interviewing. And Marshawn Lynch seems like he never got caught up in fame and is grounded and content. And J. Cole brought up some great points. Overall good discussion.
My favorite rapper, one of my favorite football players & one of my favorite film directors all in the same room together talking about deep topics!! I immediately clicked because I know this is gonna be great & I was right.
Y'all worried about the interviewer talking and critiquing him and don't even know who this man is. Not everyone can do public speaking, have you tried to speak in front of of hundreds of people? I have, you slip up and you have to try and play it off, but the entire time it's in your mind damn I messed up. I give him props cause he had trouble, but kept going and got his point across. This is what Cole was just talking about Unity! Why are black people degrading and talking down on this man who trying to have a a real deep conversation. How can we demand respect and we disrespecting ourselves. Get that negative energy out of here. Instead of hate, show this to a kid who has a stutter and let them see that it won't stop you let them be inspired, not afraid to speak up due to the fear of being vilified. Salute to these Kings. Rest in Paradise MLK Jr. Have a great day.
You do know this interviewer isn't even a real interviewer right? Ryan is just doing this for the conversation put some respect on his name this not his job for real
Right. I love seein some1 keep goin while knowing their imperfection. Takes a strong heart to keep goin after knowing how many ppl seen u "mess up" Respect
I am so thankful to have these great influential men in my lifetime, i couldn't fathom being here in life still thinking i wouldn't make past 25. To be where i can keep grinding and seeing my growth whilst i still have so much more to grow and accomplish. Thank you Marshawn! Thank you Jermaine!
I gotta say its damn near 3 am and im drunk as shit. But listening to these three fine men that come from completely different cultures and backgrounds than me, this stuff is so inspiring. Great convo to listen to i just had to get this off my chest. Salute to all three of em, gives me the motivation to do good in the world.
This was deep. I noticed Beast and Cole heads pulsating from all this knowledge from each other. I swear if we as black men stop the hate and crab in a barrel mentality and just sit at the round table. We could take over the world.
I love Marshawn’s character it’s easy to judge him by the way he speaks and what not but he’s generally a nice down-to-earth humble guy who doesn’t take crap from anyone and is seen as a leader to younger football players honestly my favorite NFL player for his very humble character speaks the truth!! ❤️
😱Knowing Ryan Coogler came from the same part of the Bay that I'm currently still growing up in is INSPIRING. 🏈I played for the same pop warner organization and played against his high school footbal team (my rival high school FB team) almost a decade after his presence there. 🤑In my eyes Ryan is a legend in the BA community and Imma keep striving to be a director/screenwriter just like him if not better! (Bro officially one of my idols)✊🏾🤩
Damn you can see the joy and respect marshawn has when cole speaking . These guys are two sides of the same coin . This who the black youth should look up too when we talking about Athletes and Ententainers
Dope! Born and raised in Carolina Cole so influential so is Beast mode I respect cause it’s raw it’s real and it’s authentic you know they come from what you came from OG’s or O-heads as we call it when they talk you shut up and listen
These conversations are crucial. Thank you for putting this together. I grew up in Oakland, went to Mack and know exactly what Ryan and Marshawn are talking about in reference to that world specifically. I'm currently on a One Year Vow of Silence right now but if whoever operates this channel would be open to checking out my channel, I would love to jump in on these conversations in the future. These talks are life changing for more than most people realize, and as an Educator and Spoken Word Artist, I look forward to seeing more and watching the expansion of this format. Peace to the Family.
ON TOP OF SETTING UP AN AMAZING AND PURPOSEFUL CONVERSATION I love Ryan's bravery for this public speaking because it's a "fear" he's overcoming. Which explains why he is such a great director because he communicates better with visuals.
Marshawn, You'll always be welcome in Seattle. We love you up here. You'll always have a 2nd home here. Please come back for the playoffs get that ring you deserve. I met your mom once before a hawks game, she was awesome, mama lynch is the greatest. People couldnt stop telling her how much they love you. Hope you told you we love you
Film 🎥, Music 🎼, & Sports 🏈... these 3 men are great role models our youth (African, European, Asian, Indian, American etc...) should be inspired by in relation to entertainment & passions 💯
Marshawn is so NOT a sell out!!! His energy is so divine in real and Knowing self!!! He speaks volumes without speaking much at all. You can tell the ancestors honor him and his courage and oneness!!! #KnowThyself
BEASTMODE, I’m 30 years old, a veteran of the US Army, born and raised in Detroit Mi. I’ve been through it ALL!! And now at 30 years in my life, I have learned so much that I wish I knew sooner. Now my goal is to reach out to young black kids and teach them what I was never taught at that age. I’m a regular, 9-5 working guy, but I’ve come so far, and I just want to help others!! I’m reaching out to you bc I know you love to help and give back. I was hoping to be able to connect with you on a project
OAKLAND CA. STAND UP SALUTE RYAN COOGLER AND MARSHAWN, REAL TOWNBIDNESS, THESE BROTHAS REALLY OUT HERE PUTTIN ON FOR MY CITY, DAME LILLARD TOO SALUTE, AND SHOUT OUT TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE RAPPERS J COLE.
A red hot burrito would probably just about kill me right now 👀. I appreciate hearing y’all’s experiences and thoughts. I’m learning that substituting code switching with being “bilingual” is an efficient way to mix while being me. I get to step outside of my box and learn from all types of people while teaching others to know and respect people like me. Good talk fellas, thanks for sharing.
