Lynch spoke a lot more in the overtime segments and I really liked what he said to Barney Frank who tried to act all smug and just say to get politicians involved when Lynch told him that he has seen Democrats and Republicans in office and nothing has changed so he is out there making a change himself. Yes, Lynch should go vote but I understand his distrust in the political system when he grew up around poverty and has seen that poverty continue to today.

I don't watch sports at all, and I don't know much about Marshawn, but his little blurb about buying up real estate to help out, was really awesome to me. I hope that's as cool as it sounds, because that's bad ass to me.

I don't watch the NFL - most greediest league of them all. NBA and NHL are next. In the 90s a father could take his family out to a game without worrying about the monthly rent/mortgage. When they stopped in the area for gas, they found a wallet belonging to a man who lived nearby. Instead of just leaving the wallet with a gas station employee, they drove to the address on the man’s license to personally return the wallet themselves. The thing is, we never would’ve heard about it if the owner of the wallet hadn’t posted the story on Facebook offering his gratitude. It’s a testament to the character of both Lockette and Beast, because when they were asked about it, they didn’t want any notoriety for their good deed. Beast’s response was: “It was not a big deal. If your wallet dropped I’d pick it up for you, too.” And that’s just one of the many reasons why 12s will *always* love Marshawn Lynch.

I wish he would go into more detail about his real estate business. " He buys houses then gives people opportunities. What does that mean? Is it a rent control situation ? is he flipping houses but only reselling to black people? Does he consider it gentrification if Hispanics become the majority in the neighborhood. Is it gentrification if minorities move into a predominantly white. neighborhood. I always thought gentrification was. Taking a rundown area of a city and fixing the issues. People start to own not rent. They take care of their property. Land value goes up. Landlords sell to more home owners because property values are on the rise. People fix up those properties which causes property taxes to rise again and so on. I always thought it had more to do with money than race.

genrtrification is a sad phenomenon of those that believe the work of johnson was over and the great society worked, coupled with carter and reagans push to create projects, it devolved into disaster. now with a blind eye hipsters move into once were section 8 grounds and pay 5 times the rent. meanwhile no plans are made for those that are pushed out, except for building new projects in another low rent undesired area, at a cost that is not only ridiculous, but as a fiscal conservative, irresponsible to justify. yet, we could intersperse and expand section 8 vouchers, allowing individuals to settle within stable neighborhoods, much like private school vouchers, preventing a concentration of those of lower ses, which, inevitably, creates a thunderdome that cops or ambulances wont go to. if you are from the city you know what i am talking about, and if you have ever been a homeless outreach worker you know even better.

I don’t think Lynch has ever been publicly outspoken about anything other than being required by the NFL to talk to the media. To my knowledge, he’s certainly never been outspoken about anything political. So if he doesn’t want to vote, so be it. If Oprah’s recent speech to minority communities (while campaigning for Stacy Abrams) regarding not voting doesn’t change opinions, nothing Maher or Barney Frank says will. But when someone is outspoken, like Colin Kaepernick, and then not only claims he doesn’t vote but also shows a complete lack of interest in doing so, he deserves to be put on blast. As someone who was fully behind his right to kneel in protest, his later admission to never voting, along with the way he dismissed the entire idea to begin with, made me take his actual interest in affecting any kind of real change to the epidemic of violence and abuse minority communities suffer at the hands of many cops, much less seriously (again, not the issue itself - which is 100% real and legit - but his interest in doing all he can to change it). If you want others to take your complaints seriously (and if you’re serious about wanting change, you should), showing complete disinterest in doing one of the only things we have as citizens that can really affect things in the future is a big mistake.
