Following Miss Argerich's success in the Chopin Piano Competition, she played here in Rhyl, a small town in North Wales, because she had been booked for this venue before the success she had enjoyed. So it was something of a great coup for our Music Club, (and its director, Mr Michael Lewis), to have the winner of that prestigious prize playing for us in a small town hall presumably for a much smaller fee than she would thereafter command. But the money is beside the point. It was good to welcome an artiste just starting out on her phenomenal world-wide career....
She was such a beautiful woman at the time she won the Chopin competition...in fact, she is still beautiful, but it's inner beauty...the kind that lasts.
Mme. Argerich has been, is and always be the queen of the piano. She is a beautiful woman who has not color her hair and by now, keeps playing a lot of recitals and concerts sharing her talent. I love her.
Argerich has talent 'in spades' and as an artist, is not afraid to take risks , such as a Rach 3 or Chaikovsky 1 that break all speed records but 'work.' Her Chopin is legendary and totally 'believable' whilst her Schumann has one imagining Clara recreating the works of her doomed husband. Talent like this is extremely rare and we should venerate it.....
Martha is beautiful and charming as we watch her _45 years later!_ Back in the 60's her sexuality was off the chart - she was without doubt an _It_ girl. Martha was doing what Yuja Wang is doing, but only 45 years ago. I love them both dearly and think they are wonderful. Sometimes I think a Strong Woman at the piano is the ultimate combination.
I had never heard of this artist until a few weeks ago, and boy was I missing a great talent. The greatest piano artist of all time, a female and Hispanic. Wonderful, and who said women are suppressed?????
such a wonderful reincarnation ... I'm speechless ... I thing Martha was already playing in her previous lives because everything she plays is so logical, effortless, natural and so clear and beautiful. She feels Chopin's music in her own unique way and you can tell that she is latin. Maybe not here in this mazurka but some other pieces... this awesome rubato...Thank you Martha for your music ! I'm in love since I've heard you for the first time :)
Well, nowadays there are young female pianists out there who think it helps to dress sexy... Look at Martha Argerich. No need if you really can play :) - Thank you very much for uploading this video!
She is the fiercest pianist...her technique is impeccable, she takes risks as a musician & as a pianist that are awe-inspiring. And she did it all during a time when women were few and far between on the International piano competition scene. To accomplish all that she has, yes, I think she is a genius who sacrificed incredible personal time in order to achieve it.
