I bought this about 3 months ago and I love it! Would really like to see more video tutorials using this kit.....it seems that most tutorials use the ready-made round looms.
I just got the loom kit from Martha Stewart at Walmart I haven't used it yet However I found your instructions very easy to follow. I hope so anyway . I had a stroke and brain bleed a year ago and this makes it hard to do things I once had no trouble with. This seem easy so thank you I look forward to using it and making many different items especially caps and gloves. Thanks for the help.
I have had the Martha Stewart Loom Kit for 2+ years. I love the diversity the kit brings to looming. I agree the knitting tool was a manufacturing failure. The company sent me a 2nd one and it was no better. I then purchased a very nice knitting tool. My kit is still kept in its plastic container with the handle, and with some careful handling it will keep your kit all in one piece. Overall I have had a nice experience with this product. When knitting with the loom (if a peg looks like it is coming loose) I gently tap it with my knitting tool and off I go. I do more machine knitting, however, I occasionally pull out the Martha Stewart to make a small item.
I do remember I paid over $10 for it. My knitting machines: Brother 260 bulky with ribber; Brother KX 390 Convertible (knits both 9 mm & 4.5 mm); Silver Reed LK150 midguage, Bond America 8 mm & Bond UK 7 mm.
Just found it. Purchased it off Etsy. It is called a weaving loom hook. Large handle, ergonomic and fits Knifty Knitter & Board Sock Looms. Whatcamefirst on etsy is currently selling them for $6.98. Take a look.
I just got my kit. I knew about the problems with the loose pegs. I had read on other boards that if you use kleenex in the peg hole the pegs stay in tighter. I don't think that is much better, but I am not new to loom knitting so I watch the pegs as I go. The pick tool is another matter. I think I will call the company about that as it is too wobbly to do anything even though it is a nice shape and size. Thank you for this RU-vid review.
I am seeing this really late. I got mine 8 years ago for Christmas and never got a chance to take it out of the packaging until this year. We moved around a lot. I had a baby. Then I got sick. Then there was covid, and more moving, and helping out family. Now there is homeschool. BUT, I FINALLY got a chance to get it out. I am less pleased with it than I thought I would be. I thought that for a Martha Stewart product, I would be getting quality. The pieces do not fit together well and the pegs fall out whilst I'm trying to knit. Sometimes I can't even get the pegs into the holes. Most of the parts don't fit together smoothly and the white loom pieces are so tight that they can not be pushed together enough to line up the holes to secure them. At this point it might be quicker to use knitting needles than to try and use this device.
I have two Martha Stewart loom sets but I do not use her pick. my husband made me my own hook and I don't use any other on any looms. I love the diversity of my loom and that I can make so many looms from one.
I just purchased this kit, and Mrs. Martha must have seen your review because the knitting tool isn't as weak as the one in your video. I like your videos. The camera stays in one spot so I was really able to see what you were doing.
I love this loom set, gives me more flexibility with hat sizes made on round/oval looms. I use the pink pegs every other slot, 40 pegs, makes a great woman's or medium size hat. Use other sizes or set-ups as well. Makes pretty stitch formation. Currently making rolling slouch hats, 52 pink pegs, single strand medium weight yarn, finished stitches are gorgeous, looks like knit on circular knitting needles.
i am so so glad i watch this as i was about to buy one and thought.........waight......see if there is any youtube's on it 1st. you have just saved me wasting my hard come by money. Thank you.
Pegs become loose after one use/ removal and smaller ones break off- this is because the ends are split and weaken. My pick broke the first stitch like his did lol - good thing i got it for $4 at thrift store instead of the price i see it online. There are a ton of diff ways to put it together though and I did manage to fit better pegs in the holes
I also own this Martha Stewart Knit and Weave set. I happen to enjoy it a whole lot and i mostly use it for weaving or for making ovals when loom knitting. It's a great set with so many shape options. My only complaint is the pick tool ...I cannot use it ..it is quite useless I use my Boye pick tool with when using this kit.
overall, its not that bad. i got it yesterday and i started testing it out today. i like how it locks once you put the desired pegs in and that you could different shapes with the pieces depending on what you want to make. what i dont like however is the knitting tool. i felt like i could break it like 3 times in less than a minute.
I ended up taking mine back to Walmart, due to the pegs would not stay in the holes , no I wasn't knitting tight either, I bought this set because of the sturdiness of the loom, but once I found out the pegs don't stay in the holes then I got to where it went back to Walmart, no more of this one! sorry Martha, but you need to have that company come up with a better way to come up with keeping the pegs from coming out while your knotting with it!
Well it wasn't me after all , Glad to see others have the same problem , I hate Martha's kit and found it a waste of money , Martha you need to fix the peg problem , otherwise the loom sizes were good if you could KEEP the Pegs to stay in loom..
I bought this last week and my hook was really sturdy. But I don't like how nubby the tip is. My other hook is from knitting board and it's circular like a cone so the base is bigger and the tip is thinner and I love it so much more. The legs are hard to get in though and when i tried making a scarf with the figure 8 stitch on the rectangular loom it came out really loose. I mean it looks cool now but I was hoping it'd be tighter
I bought this set from Walmart on Thursday and the first problem I had was the holes didn't line up on the pieces that I was trying to put together. I had to use a knife to scrape out the holes on the inner pieces to make the them line up so that the pegs would go all the way in and hold it together. The other problem I had was that the pegs kept coming out causing me to have to keep pushing pegs back in and making it a challenge to do anything other than the basic knit stitch. I will be returning this kit for a refund, it is not at all what I was hoping for. The concept is wonderful however they should have made the pegs to screw in or snap in somehow. I would not recommend this product.
+Kim Tingle I had the same issue!! Bought on 12/30 and took back 12/31 to Walmart. One of the curves would NOT fit any other part no matter what I did so I could get a peg down in there. Some pegs snapped in and some didn't.
+Kim Tingle i had the same issue with the straight looms but not the circle one. sadly i cant return it cause i totally tried to shave the holes that didn't line up properly just to see if i can make it work.. unfortunately i would not suggest this product to anyone ever.. i will say my loom hook is pretty strong though. like it doesnt wiggle so i guess thats one decent thing to come out of this garbage lol..

I had read on two different store websites the reviews by purchasers, and they were mostly bad. The biggest complaint was the pick tool and the fact that pegs tend to come out during the looming. I opted not to get it though I was impressed by how adjustable and adaptable it appeared to be. I have since discovered that on the Boye loom that I have, the pegs tend to come loose too after getting well into a project. I have to keep pushing down on the pegs to make sure they don't come apart. I also hate the top of the pegs on the Boye loom as the yarn gets snagged on that peg gap which looks the same as the top of a crochet hook. I find that VERY annoying. Martha Stewart has better peg design.
S Taylor yes, the pegs on the Martha Stewart loom are nice. I have kept myself from buying the boye looms strictly because of the peg gap. I get annoyed way too easily for that!
I agree with this review. I love the loom set. It's my first and I found it so easy to knit a cap for myself. But as soon as I started using it, I went online and ordered a different pick. It bends so easily I am afraid it will break.
I recently purchased this kit for $44 from JoAnn's. This kit is very versatile, but I have an issue with the pegs and the pick. The first time I tried to knit with the pick, I found it to be extremely unstable and, unfortunately, un-usable. The pegs do not stay in the holes and when they loosen, the yarn is caught beneath the peg. All-in-all, it was too much money for a product that has great potential for looming and weaving. I, too, keep mine in the original packaging, which will hold up if cared for. I have mixed feelings about this product, but I use it.
There are two sizes only the different colour is to mark the begining the blue and the gray is small while the gray is for marking a point and the green and the pink is big while the green is for marking
I've watched reviews of the M.S. kit. How come no one mentions that if the weaving tool was a couple inches longer, it'd reach appropriately through the large weaving square. Every time you weave it through, it 'loses it place' in the under/over pattern because its too short the span all the way across. So darn annoying. I'd pay just to have the tool made smarter. Also, the tool has flat and wider areas. Too wide to fit between the small pegs. So annoying.
I just opened this and didn't like that it was not connecting all the way, pegs pops out and yes I agree with you that the hook bad . Not rounded and flimsy will bend or break. Should not have bought it.
I purchased the set, and the tool or hook is horrible! One problem is if you put the pegs in snug they are hard to get out, and if you don't put them in tight enough the pegs will come out. I made to items, and I prefer the Kniffy Knitter.
I just bought this set about 4 months ago and have replaced the knitting tool twice already, this is not one of her better works I am sad to say,. For the most part she puts out excellent products with very few failures. One other thing I did not care too much fr was trying to keep track of start and finish points but it only takes a second to mark it off. Otherwise I too keep my kit in its original container which is better made than the knitting tool too bad.
Pegs loose or do not stay fixed at the loom, as I live in Brazil it is too expensive to buy in order to have problems at the time of using it. I do not recommed.
about the same room at Walmart I don't like it might work falls apart the pegs come out makes my work a little sloppy go for the real stuff Cindwood looms are the best
I have returned mine. The legs come out when you try to take the bottom loop over the top. You spend more time replacing pets than looming. Not quality.
Yeah they could've done some a little bit better with Diane I thought that said that you have read there a while back and I thought the cheapest thing in there was it fuck so yeah they need to do some kind of improvement on that one
I bought that too I got mine at Walmart and I thought it was really cool I love how they made everything house dirty it was but when I used to hurt you I was really amazing it was so horrible you think they would've made it at least a better hook so I was just a surprise and dad something somebody needs to beat make a complaint to them Hook is in debt and that girl
I disliked this loom because the pegs pop out while knitting. The hook broke and the loom falls apart due to the pegs. So I got a refund and got the kb adjustable hat loom so much better quality and it cost less.
I may have a defective product. But since I didnt even open package till return was impossible I am stuck with it. I do not like it as a whole because all parts do not fit together! I have assembled what I can and use the parts I can fit together. So very pissappointed with this loom! Will never recommend purchasing.
