MARTIAL BLADE CONCEPTS VOLUME 2
Featuring Michael D. Janich
www.staysafemedia.com/martial-...
In Martial Blade Concepts: The Enhanced Version, MBC founder Michael Janich provided detailed instruction in the critical skills personal defense with a knife. Martial Blade Concepts Volume 2 continues that education, reinforcing and refining those fundamentals and introducing the next block of instruction in the MBC system.
Volume 2 reveals the secrets of MBCís body mechanics, footwork, and live-hand checking and leads you step by step through the process of integrating them into a powerful combative synergy. Janich provides detailed instruction in MBC's scientific approach to checking, maximizing the body's structural strength and energy transfer while maintaining fluidity that keeps you one step ahead of your attacker. He also teaches you the process of "deconstructing" techniques-eliminating or modifying the movements to instantly adapt to the dynamic nature of real attacks. And, building on the foundation of the first video in this series, Janich teaches you the remaining Defensive Responses of MBC's standard grip system and the skills necessary to use a knife against attacks with sticks and other long-range weapons.
Throughout this process, Janich explains and reinforces MBCís extraordinary learning methodology, which combines clear logic with a natural progression of skill and understanding. That approach, combined with dedicated instruction in solo training methods, make this series an incredibly effective learning tool for anyone serious about self-defense.

I do believe that you are right in some points, most time if someone puts a knife on you, there's not much you can really do. But I think it is valuable to learn knife defense for the few cases where you can defend yourself. I have been attacked with a knife three times. The first and third times i almost died. But the twice time I was lucky and able to apply some of Mr. Janich's concepts and i survive with only a few minor cuts.

These simple, non lethal techniques are easy to teach to my kids. These cripple an attacker and allow one to flee the scene of the conflict to a safer place. Thank you for sharing this training.

Been in a real knife fight so dont have time to pull out a knife but you do need fighting techniques for a take down or be able to land blows to the throat or groin etc. Its the only thing that saved me.

If you listen or purchase any of his materials, you'll see that he does not advocate any sort of "knife dueling." That is why there is always an attacker. Also, these methods are good for things other than knives like wrenches, hammers, bats, beer bottles, etc. All instruments you'll find on the street. If you train with his Counter-Blade Concepts you'll see that making space is an important part of his system. Just can't say it all, all at once! :-)

nicely done, good video from a real expert. My only comment/critic, is on the angle one with the longer weapon, (the baton) either go left back 45 and make the inside cut or stay and check but knife jab to eye first then cut the live arm. If you check and cut, you leave your head exposed to a strike from the off hand. even if the aggressor blocks the eye jab, the natural line leads to the inside cut the live arm (or strong side depending on what terms you like).

at 8:06 I would suggest that you rather cut to the bicep or neck face area, we found that in a situation of rush that guys tend to cut their own arms (at the point of checking) more often than not, its just a bit too close, you never cut close to where you check or block

I'm from Russia. Have you ever taken part in sport knife fighting? You can't repeat this technique on the speed. 4-52 Why does your opponent make so long, sweeping movement? What will you do if he cuts your armed hand first?

MY COMMENTARY ON JANICH'S KNIFE-FIGHTING SYSTEM: If you watch and listen to Janich's teachings until the end, you'll gain a logical understanding of the strictly defensive aspects of Kali and Escrima. This knowledge is crucial because it can help you avoid legal troubles. It's essential to recognize that these Philippine martial arts have historical roots in extreme warfare, where Filipinos were fighting to repel Spanish colonizers with a level of efficiency that developed over time. This efficiency was, and to some extent still is, as effective a system for causing harm as is progressively possible. On the contrary, Janich's system is designed for modern American self-defense and is crafted to withstand the scrutiny of our judicial system. This is vital because you want to make sure you don't end up in jail for going beyond the boundaries of self-defense. The courts will closely examine your every action. For example, consider the case of a Japanese-American from my church who shot a man with a knife in the neck and shoulder. What landed him a twenty-year sentence in Monroe Penitentiary was when he fired three more shots when the man was running away and no longer posed a threat. In conclusion, Janich's system incorporates techniques from Kali, Escrima, and other knife-fighting methods to help you stop the threat while minimizing the risk of legal consequences. This is precisely what I want to learn and practice, to the best of my ability given my age and physical limitations, at (41) days till my (80th) birthday. Should the threat not be stopped, there's a chance that the perpetrator may indeed suffer severe injuries, and in some cases, even death. However, it's crucial to understand that these outcomes result from defensive actions rather than offensive techniques aimed at causing the attacker's death. Respectfully, Kali/Kenpo Karl

@RL Hays no matter the art or teqnique if u havent done it in real life then u dont know it. So i agree with u. Best way to train in with resistance without hurting ur partner. most of the aikido like moves are based on taking weapons away. Which is why its wrist focused. And for the guys asking about the reverse grip thats not the smartest way. If u have any weapon u wanted pointed at ur opponet at all times. that grip is movie stuff. easy for the other guy to pin ur hand that way.

But he is right. Every good empty hand system (what boxing definitively is!) is also great for adding a blade... The attacks are very very dangerous...but how he would handle bladed counter attacks. What would he do except is usual cover work which can be very dangerous when the counter attack is also bladed? I don't know. Whatever. The best way to NOT discuss into eternity would be: Check it out! Test it! It's definitvely an interesting thought....

@@stephanlude5951 boxing for 20 years started mbc hard for me not jab with the knife which mbc doesn't specifically doesnt teach and hooks with a knife can be dangerous to you. Really like the simplicity of this system and it does allow versatility for other systems techniques but for me it's going to take time and good live sparring to figure this all out.

@50ThousandDigeridoos
@50ThousandDigeridoos 9 лет назад
By "high speed" do you mean force on force, going 100% with a training partner? If so, that's not practical. It's almost impossible to go 100% with your training partner simply because you will injure them. How can one demonstrate at full speed a knee to the side of the leg? Or a full power stomp to the ankle? I could go on. One can't. Thus, we do what we can and only go as far as we can with training.
@robdeskrd
@robdeskrd 4 года назад
When doing video combatives instruction you do not want to be focused on full speed, your focus should be on clearly conveying the the principles of the system with clear explanations and demonstrations. Martial Blade Concepts, it's about learning the way of thinking.

What you are saying is that you want him to really hurt his student to prove a point to you.( Probably why you have no students) you hurt them all. I pretty sure he know that its effective,alot of times defanging the snake is all you really need, he swings and you smash/slash that hand then follow up. Try it for yourself and see if its effective.

rather than paying for lessons and get involved in this or that style figure out yourself how to deal with knive attacks and come up with various situations. use common sense and a training partner who puts you in uncomfortable situations and you will figure this stuff out yourself. if you're life depends on it don't cut biceps and other parts of the body he might die later but still kill you, unless you can escape you have to shut him down at once -> eyes, throat, neck, don't wound but kill

know couple of guys being stabbed and one who used to be a bad guy and stabbed people. their experience was they didn't see the blade only felt it. one guy however saw the blade coming and hit the dude with and iron bar and it wouldn't stop him the blade went through the bone right into his heart, then guts then 2 other places. my take on all this knive fighting stuff is: don't waste your money on it.

Hello Nate, This is not the right place to post information about upcoming training events. Keith Jennings is an MBC brother and a very talented fully certified instructor in Michael Janich's MBC/CBC system. On another point, the MBC system does not use honorifics and titles such as Guro, Sifu, and Grand Master. I will leave this post up for one day out of respect to Keith, but I will remove it tomorrow.
