I gotta say, it blows my mind that this and those Asura games existed, yet you barely hear anyone talking about them. It's like they exist in the underground or something. Props to everyone who sheds a light on them.
Street Fighter 3: New Generation was released in 1997, Double Impact came out with in a year, and Third Strike in 1999. Martial Masters was released in 2001. Even if it's an accomplishment in terms of sprite animation, and a solid release for a smaller developer... Martial Masters still comes across a lot like what it is: a Chinese knock-off. The gameplay doesn't hold up.
@wolfumz it's not that bad let alone 3rd strike nerfed Sean with that slow tackle lol. Nice soundtrack though. I'll play either one over sf6 with that tedious custom character mode. Appreciate both martial masters and sf3 are bundled in collections for less too, as well as capcom fighting collection/arcade stadium 1 and 2.
I love how the characters are based on classic chop-socky Kung Fu films. Master Huang is obviously Wong Fei-Hung, Lotus Master is Pai Mei, and my favorite, Scorpion is Sonny Wang from Operation Scorpio.
You can tell they had SF3 as their artistic direction but with a fraction of the budget, but the artists were so incredibly stellar they not only fulfilled their task but created something memorable and excellent of their own.
@@123TauruZ321 I can point out at least of dozen games on steam that have pixel graphics as well. Are they copies of street figher 2? None of those backgrounds are in SF 2 or 3. The character themselves have animations that arent found in SF. All the fighting games back from this time had the same pixel graphics which didnt have any real noticeable improvement until, at the least, Xmen vs Street Fighter...Is Samurai Showdown a copy of SF 2 as well ? Dark Stalkers lol? Now when Marvel Heroes and later Marvel vs Capcom the graphics were considerably better because they had to contend with MK and Killer Instinct.
This one you can get for the Switch, it comes in a collection with other pretty good games too. I bought it for the Knights of Valour games but it also comes with this game and an awesome Metal Slug clone.
Awesome walkthrought,Loading Geek That fighter game is a masterpiece with all letters Red-Snake..i love you, babe🥵🥰😍😘🤤😋,great choice😏😉 Grettings from Argentina, see you tomorrow👋🏻🇦🇷
That's some awesome animation and 2D art right there! Though it baffles me that this Arcade board did not support hardware transparencies despite being released 10 years after the SNES!
The art Style gameplay of this game always reminded me of Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike and Tiger is basically the Dudley look alike but I must admit that it is a good game.
I'm almost certain that at least one of the artists went on to join Vanillaware, i see a ton of resemblances between the sprites in Martial Masters and the sprites in Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown.
Apparently it recently got ported to the Switch as part of a collection of IGS games called "IGS Classic Arcade Collection". I just found this out right now after checking this game's Wikipedia page
