Thx for the review! I love this guitar.. I also have a Taylor Big baby... I end up playing both of these more than any other full sized guitar... They are just more comfortable to me... Both are great both sound great and both are easy to play.. I would go with the Martin if I had to choose one. I think the 1 3/4 nut is just way easier to pick and strum.. The Taylor plays a little faster for me but The Martin wins!! Both are great additions to my collection!!!

Nice demo and review. I bought on Friday. Action was too low but I’ll have it back tomorrow. I love the jr. primarily play electric and now turning to acoustic. I’m subscribing to learn a little from you.

I agreed with you on the D-Jr I picked one up at local music shop. I did have to get it set up and get new strings. Like it!

I have and love it for my couch and travel guitar. Replaced saddle and pins with bone which improved the sound quite a bit.
@Relaxandlearnguitar

it is a great little guitar. SO the switch to a bone saddle made a big enough difference to warrant the upgrade?

@@Relaxandlearnguitar Yes, absolutely! Makes it sound more balanced and less "boxy".

@@capohd28 where did you buy the bone saddle to fit
@capohd28
@capohd28 Год назад
@@nicholasbarker2707 I can’t remember if I used a fitted one or made one from scratch. I do lots of those. I buy bone saddles and blanks from Stew Mac in US, and Solo Guitars in Canada. I usually have a stock of both, and often check if a pre made blank is close, then adjust it. If not, I’ll make one from scratch. It’s not hard to do either if you have the right files. I’m not a professional, I just do this for my own use, as well as friends and family. A Martin style blank often works, but will need some adjustment.

Great review. I have a Martin Dreadnought Jr and a Taylor Big Baby. I agree with everything you said about the Jr and like it a lot. Even though the Taylor Big Baby is a solid top and laminate side I prefer the Taylor for playability. That said I like them both and will not get rid of either one.

So do most martins come with a higher action? Mine is rather high.

Hi friend,, i for the first time thought at 56 now 58 that im going give it all i can to learn the guitar,, i have no gift no talent but thought if i can learn a keyboard i may can learn guitar.. after about 3 different guitars and a pack of strings every two months which lol my wife ask why do u keep getting strings,, and most days practice about 2 hrs.. with youtube and google as my teacher,, i m struggling,, i have small hands and have to like hold one finger as a anchor and streeech to get that C major.. i can do it but so tense.. my question,, do you think the jr size guitar could get me there or is it just not going to happen .. after 2 yrs would think i should b there.. but not.. the guitar I’ve settled on is a blue ridge 40 which is a awesome sound ,, i thought i may just store the guitar s but can’t seem to put it down lol.. any recommendations?

If you can’t seem to put that guitar down then I think there is hope. That BR40 is a sweet guitar. A smaller guitar will definitely help with those finger stretching issues. There are also guitars smaller than the jr models. Martin makes a little Martin and Taylor makes a baby Taylor. There are other brands too. Do you have the ability to go try any smaller guitars in person? Hang in there. hi I have been playing Tyalor GS mini but looking for a slightly bigger guitar. Is this guitar bigger than Taylor GS mini?
@Relaxandlearnguitar
@Relaxandlearnguitar 3 года назад
Hey there Raj. That Taylor is a great guitar as you know! The Martin is slightly larger. Just checked the specs. The Martin is 24 inch length and Taylor is 23.5. The nut width on the Taylor is 1.68 and the nut width on the Martin is 1.75

Any thoughts on why some come with the standard headstock logo and some with the new silver logo. Like the silver logo ,it stands out nice

Hope yours is better than the one I got. Something pressed into the firs seven frets under the B string and two through seven filed down and not dressed. First noticed bar cords were harder. Good sound and pretty other than that.

Splitting hairs but I think Martin considers it a 15/16 inch scale not a 3/4.

The scale of the Martin Jr. series is 24" and the width of the nut is 1 and 3/4" .
