Martin Fry sounds like a real down to earth kind of fellow, salt of the earth as they say. Great interview by Ken as always 👏 👍.

Martin and me must have been separated at birth. Everything he said rang with me. Great interview. And Martin looks fantastic for a man in his mid 60s. I was at Uni early 80s when ABC came along. I loved them. Man! could Martin sing.

@ytthrowaway4584 and you are from? The land of the disposable 👉 🇺🇸 where English language is quite poor. Where you're unable to point to the correct country on a world map. I'm not British by the way. Had a wonderful education there, only in your wildest dreams

@ytthrowaway4584 Precisely. The English are the problem, two faced and insular.

What a gentleman :) A great interview with a very talented artist. When Lexicon of Love came out, i was into heavy rock. I ended up at a party at a bedsit, and the only record in the house was ABC By the end of the night i was blown away with its melody and musical unique-ness Loved them ever since

Was listening to this very good great music choices, just like to add Ken is sounded better than ever sounds like GHR is what he needed sounds more alive and like he is enjoying himself. I understand radio 2 has lost a million listeners since Ken left ouch that must hurt!

ABC.... such fabulous art-pop music. They shouldve been massive, but Beauty Stab clearly was too big a shift. It's defo my fave album by them! "From Charles I, to Charles II to Charles III" A brilliant album

Be Near Me is a superb track from 1985 but I recall it did not go very high in the chart even though I thought it would.

Brilliant chap, I loved ABC and bought their records. Pity it didn't work out with Stephen Singleton but the band had poss even more success with a change in line-up. Classical stuff a mistake, why not make new records?

So cool. Most people probably think he from Sheffield because ABC are a Sheffield band. Good to know he is from Manchester 😉

Being of a similar age to Martin, we share the same musical awakening. I believe ABC's Lexicon Of Love was one of the albums of the 80's. Bowie's folky version of Dudes was a polar opposite to Hoople's.

Roxy Music the seventies ......Bryan Ferry ... nobody like this now I’m afraid what happened to melodies?

Lowest common denominator muzak, artists not listening to the music and voices that those who emerged in the 1970s and 1980s did, lack of creativity through technology as in the eighties, impatience of record companies not allowing bands time to develop their craft before dumping them from labels and listening to music on phones or via rubbish head phones. Music has diminished in importance to so many people partly due to the lack of quality on offer and more forms of entertainment competing for their attention. A venn diagram of all the reasons for the decline of music would have a lot in the middle and there are various other factors in addition to those cited. We never knew we had it so good in the eighties, it was taken for granted that while music would evolve, it would remain of a consistently high quality.

You do realise Roxy were given all those songs? Analyse the lyrics, it's mostly Tavistock mind control stuff

@@pierremchughes9917 it’s how the great man himself manages to put a melody to his interpretation of a song Bowie was similar just my opinion pal
