People on here saying Martin is not original and a copycat of Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy, guess y'all forgot Paul Mooney wrote for both of them lol
for people who complaining you need to see the whole stand up to understand the humor of just this scene. This is one of the best stand ups I've ever seen.
Can someone explain to me, how we have seen this easily 25 times in our lifetimes, and I still laugh my ass off as if I am just hearing it for the first time. Every single time.
New respect for Martin Lawrence after seeing this - his jokes are better than I thought, and his normal straight out, unemotional & non characterized voice in the beginning sounds great. I've only heard him talk in "character" before, never just like a normal person, but maybe I just haven't seen enough of his work? This was great.
You should have left the whole bit in, like the part when he finally passes out and she beats his ass in his sleep and he wakes up the next day crying in pain all over and she says "he should stop drinking so much".
They say that explaining the joke is not as funny as telling the joke. This is mostly true, but the incredible brilliance of Martin Lawrence is that his whole act is one big explanation. He never just jokes about shit, he is giving explanations throughout the whole damn show and being funny as hell. His whole act is just one big explanation of life if you listen closely enough, and he is an auteur in that his punchlines are always secondary. I fuckin love Martin!!
i loooove martin!!!! I watch his shows today!! and I hate what happened (back then) I love the whole cast they were the BEST WEVE SEEN IN OUR LIFETIME!!! NO ONE ACTS NO MORE! EVERYTHING IS REALITY TV ! NONE ACTIN MFS!!! I LOOOOVE YOU MARTIN YOU ARE THE BEST HANDS DOWN!!!!
This was one of the funniest comedy shows I had ever seen. It was his "Run Tell Dat" show, depicted by the logo of a running figure on his shirt. I've watched this scene five times already and it still makes me laugh so hard.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
