Solanke had played about 150 minutes of football for Spurs after returning from an injury, and people were already questioning him.

From Aussie: Ange was answering a question on his history when he wins trophies, he was just been truthful, as he said if I don’t win anything this year in the future I win mostly in my second year. Ange fully explained why he had to make 8 changes, Simon you should listen to what people say instead of putting your spin on it.

I think Ange is taking pressure away from players by giving media an opportunity to go after him. At the same time the players will follow him because he believes in them.i don’t think Simon is right.

@@nevillemignot1681 maybe he thinks he’s a prick for constantly trying to undermine and humiliate Spurs on his radio show? For using a supposedly neutral, professional media outlet as a mouthpiece to target one club? Do you listen to TalkSport in Oz? It’s a relentless battering of our club from Jim White, Jason Cundy, Martin Keown, Rory Jennings etc etc. Despite us finishing above Man Utd, Chelsea etc who spend billions and yet aren’t ridiculed nonstop like Tottenham. The press pack did the same to Poch - basically asking him why he was failing for reaching 2nd in the EPL and 2nd in the Champions League 🤯 The narrative churned out by the media has a massive effect on public opinion and the pressure applied to players like Solanke, Johnson etc

Ange has always had a massive chip on his shoulder which is why he has been so successful. In Australia he is viewed by the establishment as a wog (that's what the Ango-Saxon Australians called immigrants from Greece, Italy etc. and they used to call football, 'wogball') & in Europe (where, he was born), the home of football, he is seen as an Aussie kangaroo by the media, football fans and establishment. His combative style will never go away, it's what has made him.

Tottenham season ticket holder here. I rarely hear negativity towards Ange inside the stadium. It seems that the majority of the noise is coming from social media or the press wanting to make a mountain out of a molehill. Also, Jim White at the start of this clip saying “Solanke opened his account at last” - That was his third league start for the club. Ridiculous comment

Even some of the Spurs fans were abusing Johnson and he had 20 goal contributions last year. There is a small section of Spurs fans that get wound up over every small thing, or make stuff out to be worse than it is.

Ange’s point is one of fact; he wins things in his second year and he can say that until he doesn’t. He is leading a club by giving Spurs a culture of winning as a means to an end. Play well, you’ll win. He says it constantly, win the next touch, the next, play, the next duel, always what’s next. That is what makes him different.
