The only problem with learning from older hairstylists is that I feel like unless they continue to brush up on knowledge and continue their own education then you’re not going to learn much from them. In this industry you HAVE to keep learning knew techniques. The industry is changing and if everyone doesn’t continue learning and furthering their education then we are doomed. I’ve met numerous hairdressers who have been doing it longer and they are either arrogant or become stuck in one box and never broaden their horizons. It’s a two way road in this industry. Been doing hair for 7 years and am still learning more, but it’s because I make it my mission to continue to learn more. Just because someone has years under their belt does NOT mean they are even good at doing hair-met plenty of those stylists. That being said I do agree with Martin on a lot of stuff but becoming someone’s pet just to learn in this industry isn’t one of them lol
