Thanks for uploading, no annoying news anchor to listen to, just video and a little commentary. My brother works at Martin Appliance in Myerstown so he’s been getting a decent amount of updates.
Lancaster County has magnificent volunteer fire fighters 🚒, half a century ago I was a full time firefighter in Lancaster City, and a volunteer in East Petersburg. Thanks for the coverage. Everyone hit the like button, it helps the channel 🤙🏻
Just a comment to update your firefighting vocabulary. The “temporary ponds” are called “drop tanks”. Just a nit picking comment from an old rural fire firefighter 😊. Also, if there are tankers lined up to supply the drop tanks, this is a really good department and probably Mutual Aid organization. To be able to “build water” while flowing as much as they are is no easy task. Great job everyone.
Great drone shots! The aerials are wasting water flowing onto the roof! They need to ventilate roof on the fire building to open up to holdl the fire and to allow master streams to penetrate! Roofs are made to keep water out so their master streams are doing nothing flowing onto the roof! But great videos!!!
I am a local fire firghter who was on scene on the first alarm dispatch. The reason they shot on the roof all the time is because they already put holes in the roof and had holes to spray into, but that roof was two layers with a gap between both parts. On the outside was metal and inside a rubber lining, so they had to hit the roof to get the fire between because of the fact that the roof had already started caving in at that time.
I'm in SC - I purchase Martin's Potato Bread and love it !! I guess I'm just curious - Is there any connection with the bread company and this store ?? I've been to this area of PA many times - It's a beautiful state and area !!!
@Tom-bi1tc if I'm not mistaken, the printing on the bag mentioned the PA area near Lancaster - That's why I was wondering if the two were connected - No matter where it's from, it's delicious bread and I love it - I'm not really a bread eater, but they're great rolls !! Thanks and have a great afternoon !!
Baffles me is all the water usage because of the many ladder trucks spraying water on the roof that’s not on fire. You can’t put out a fire if you’re not putting water on it.
Also there was a rubber roof with metal on top. The rubber was on fire under the metal. Spraying onto the metal cooled the burning rubber. (Just my guess).
I heard the store didnt have a sprinkler when it was Built. Im sorry to say that wasntvvery smart . If they had one to begin with , this might have not happened this bad if they had a sprinkler system .
Looks like all they are doing is watering the roof. Not an easy fire to put out, need inside access but way to dangerous, have to wait for the roof to burn through of the excavator to rip walls down.
Nice drone footage one off the best I have seen showing the whole fire scene and all equipment positions. I am from Mount Carmel north of your area. Ŵe had a very large fire today.......an old half block long lumber company started burning at 4 am today and was still putting water on it at 3:30 today when I passed. Regarding your comment on fuel......they do NOT take à positioned tower truck to the gas station.......a fuel truck is brought to them. Lots of heating oil trucks around......it's deisel.
