So nice to hear the cabin's history and know you have preserved it for those that will enjoy it in the future- don't forget to carve YOUR initials in the beam too :)
it is a wonderful place you have there. I have spent 35 years in the Jemez mountains here in NM. Now I can barely hobble around. So it is time for new generation to explore and hunt this beautiful area. Being grateful that I was able to experience the outdoors in a way similar to you. Love your videos Martin. thanks
very heart warming to all outdoors lovers ...glad you saved that old place..i used to build shacks as a kid and still love things of that nature .....great story on how your cabin had different owners and its uses and such
You are a great story teller. You turned a $1,200 pile of rotting rubbish into a priceless retreat. Well done. Thank you for the video and for the background story too.
Martin, I stumbled onto your channel some time ago and have enjoyed everyone of your videos. This one is one of the best ive seen thanks for sharing the history and your time there. I'm restoring a old "Maine" cabin myself along with my family, we are the fourth owners and hope to pass it on to the next generation who would enjoy for years to come. Thanks again for the Vid's
Thank you for relating this story, it adds much to the other videos to know this. You found a gem in the rough and turned it into a wonderland. And for $1200, you added more happiness to your life than money can by.
Stories like this I could set & listen to for hours on end. Loved how you shared the story & Pictures to go along with it, Many Thanks Martin This 1's goin in my favorites ! 'till we see one another in your next video, Be Well, Friend ATB Ter God Bless
That was a great story, you've certainly added a few more years of life to the cabin. It's a very special place. Thank you so much for sharing. Look forward to your next video. 👍🏼
Great story that was well told. Your love of the outdoors, people & their history shows and there couldn't have been anyone better to end up buying it. Atb.

Hi Martin! Thanks much for the 'visit' and the story of the Cabin and how you came to be it's owner and steward. So kind of you to share it all with us as you do. There's something very deep, positive and good about you and your story, kind of inscrutable and mysterious (in a good way), but plain to recognize for those with a heart and spirit that are spoken to by such things. Most peaceable and agreeable place to visit in all of "window-world" as far as I can tell. Bless you, and your wonderful place.
What a fun story , Martin. I love the fact that you saw potential in what most would have given up on. Beautiful place, I love what you've done. Thanks once again.
That is a nice story about when you found the cabin. We're in PA, and we sleep in a tent on our property in the summer. We enjoy your wisdom and insight. Peace and grace
Sleeping out is nice and it has been done a lot at the cabin. If someone is keeping the stove stocked I like to sleep on on some clear winter nights. Trees exploding in the cold and the Milky Way in an ink black sky.
Winters a comin “ great story sir ... when it’s your time to pass the torch they will have years of your story and legacy at their fingertips to watch forever ... pretty damn cool if you ask me ! Stay warm sir .
Awesome story with the Cabin, the simple times of pass generations, it's not all about the money and returns, just memories that continue to humble us that listen and enjoy you've done such a wonderful job keeping the Cabin alive, keep on keeping on, Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
One last "new" window to install. I want to get some sort of preservative on the logs. I would like a gazebo in the yard with roof panels that could be cranked open to enjoy the northern lights at night.
Great story Martin! Thank you for sharing, as a farmer, I remember going to the farmer's hunting cabin that my family owned, great memories. Too bad its only memories now, I am hoping to build a cabin here on my farm for my family in the near future so my kids can also experience what I did growing up!
I can still do 'Most" things I used to could do! But they come much slower now!!!! I HATE THAT!!!!Larsonvalleyfarm, sounds like some food I could feed people with! lol. Don't waste time if you are a younger man with kids, make time! You have memories of the hunting camp, build your kids some memories!
Everett sold the cabin to the right person. It is obvious to me from watching your videos that you appreciate the cabin and the land. You knew and appreciated what it had to offer. The property offers a great deal of entertainment and enjoyment for those of us who appreciate the woods and all it has to offer. Knowing the history of the property, who occupied it and why adds to the experience of being there. You've done a really good job of fixing it up and making good use of it.
Thanks, besides myself there are many others that enjoy that cabin being saved from the ravages of time and no care. It makes a nice destination for some of the people in that part of Minnesota.
Great story Martin. I live on a small remote ranch I own in the mountains with my wife. The peace and solitude are important to me. City folks don't know what their missing.
So interesting, thank you for sharing the history of a place that so many people would love to visit and see the birds and those little critters. thanks again, when I am exhausted and woozy from life,I find these refreshing vlog of slower days. Take care.
You are a good stories teller, so interresting, love that antique cabin history ,so glad to treasure her and made her beautiful again without taking of the caractere of the place. kept it rustic and real. thank you
I sure do enjoy your videos. I love you work hard, play hard, make time for rest and praise. I want to be like you. When I was in college I found a cabin not far from home in the woods in sad shape. I wrote the owners to ask if I could lease it from them and fix it up. I never heard back. I've dreamed about having a spot in the woods ever since. Some day... Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Great that you know the history of the cabin a beautiful place to have .Bet your glad he stuck you with it eh. He thought he was doing you a favour ,what a bargin at 1200 almost a joke. Keep the videos coming throughly enjoyable .Thanks Dale
Martin I've been watching your videos for quite a long time, I've always wanted to escape the city and your videos inspire me to do that. I'd love to opportunity to see your cabin one day meet you and just be free. Always good to see your videos my friend.
The cabin was waiting for that one out of a million that looked at it with love and its potential, and that person was you look at all the years it gave to you and the fond memories.
Hey Martin , your respect for the land , the wildlife , the cabin and its history , is a beautiful thing . My grandfather was born somewhere around 1910 , he had 13 trapping , hunting and logging camps . I was a very small kid in the 1980's and things were that I spent a lot of time with him . He taught me many things from the land and respect for everything on the land . Thanks to him , and thanks to you for another great vid . Cyril , from OntarioPS You need a book in that cabin with all its history in it , and your name carved into a log .
Great history there Martin. Nice to hear how much it's been appreciated. Well now you get to share it with us. I bet those ole timers would love your channel. Many thanks friend take good care.
Awesome story Martin!! My dad worked for a farmer... the farmer gave him 40 acres of woods and swamp that the cattle didn’t use anymore.... that was 1977... we have a cabin/fixed up chicken coop on it.... and we enjoy hunting and family get togethers there still
Thanks for the story! Along the way, you have mentioned 'partners' who came up with you. Were you a group of hunting buddies? How did you re-develop the interior to where it is today?
After I found the cabin there were four of us that wanted to purchase it. Two have passed away and another has joined in. After I retired I had time to rework the place a little at a time. I used a hammer and strong knife to clean off the bark. I had a gas powered drill with a big wire brush attached which helped clean up the rough sawn ceiling boards. The reddish walls are oil based varathane but I then went with waterbased because the wood stayed lighter and helped brighten the cabin. We were cross-country skiers but I did deer hunt the area for a number of years. I finally decided the hunting was getting in the way of other things I enjoyed more.
This is really awesome Martin your cabin looks so peaceful so quiet this is what true happiness is really all about thank you for posting keep these great videos coming you have a blessed day
wow thats a great story love all the history of the land and the cabin....someone will be very lucky to have this property someday thanks for backstory on the cabin keep up the great videos .
Need to make a journal to go with the cabin and note all the history you have. Please be very careful to whom you pass it on too. So that they keep the history line intact, and keep the cabin going for it's intended purpose.. it's nice to know that places like that still exist.. I've had a great time cruising through your videos, and dreaming what a life like that would be like. Thank you so much for taking the time to share the cabin with us, and continue the cabin's history. You're a remarkable man..
if there was the youtube during those years it will be a great story about the cabin and the life in this corner of paradise than that it is,thanks Martin
I love that you comment back to us. Your a good man Martin. You deserve an extra slice of that peach pie your wonderful wife makes. Take a bite for me too.😊💕
What an awesome story and what I fine job you have done over those years fixing her up. She sure is beautiful! It's very nice to see someone who cares for her. :-) and gets great pleasure when he is there.
Awesome story Martin! I have great childhood memories of a cabin my grandparents owned on 3rd crow wing lake. Unfortunately, they were forced to sell it in the early 90s. I miss the place to this day. It's too bad my kids didn't get to experience 'cabin life' like I did.
thank you for sharing your cabin life and the stories it reminds me of the stories my dad used to tell of him and his brother inlaws camping in the Adirondacks back in the day
Hi Martin, I’ve been enjoying your videos. I’m currently going through a similar process in fixing up the log cabin my father built nearly fifty years ago. I can identify with many of your projects and also the satisfaction that comes with completeing them. All the best to you.
Thanks for your story of your cabin. You are a great story teller. I always enjoy your videos. you have a wonderfully serene and interesting way of seeing life. Thanks for sharing!
Over 60 years ago I remember my uncles had a deer cabin in the woods of Pennsylvania and one summer during vacation my parents took us 5 kids up there, we only spent 1 night there and even found a dead chipmunk in the sofa, couldn't go outside because of the thick mosquitos.
