Out of all of Stanley's films, I've now seen Eyes WS the 2nd most. I swear it never gets old. I've only seen the Shinning more, but I first saw that film when I was a kid in the 80's. I agree EWS is one of the most underappreciated films of all. I agree with Stanley on it, it's definitely actually among his very best films. It's haunting and intimate, it's honestly too scary for a lot of people I think.

“Watching a Kubrick film is like gazing over a mountain top and you wonder how could Anyone cilmb that high”-Martin Scorsese. This is true because of the cinematography and composition you see the proudction design you think that it was built and I thought whoa that awesome and it discomfort between these compositions that make it a Kubrick film

"Marty" is the best! IMHO it's definitely a sign of true greatness talking about someone who does (did) the exact same as you - as your idol, inspiration, teacher and with so much passion and knowledge. Beautiful choice of matching footage, that is often a great and clever visual pun, but even more: it explains and expands on what Scorsese is saying, providing much more insight. Just looking at almost any of the Kubrick footage still takes my breath away. His movies have that intangible quality - they feel so incredibly real and yet "somehow off" at the same time - making you think (as Scorsese mentioned: after you "recover" from the incredible power of Kubrick's work), the perfect sum of true art and meticulous craftsmanship. Kubrick definitely had very profound knowledge about how our brains work and applied it to his own work with ultra precision. Awesome video as always, obviously made by someone who is just as passionate about film as "Marty" and the great Stanley Kubrick! Thanks for making this. Love it!

You are most welcome! As you of course know, Scorsese is age 75 now and I look forward to what he will come up with in the future. I see he will (re-)unite De Niro, Pacino and Joe Pesci next year in "The Irishman" (according to IMDb: filming on Super 35mm film as we speak, just a side note) - one of many upcoming projects he is involved in. Great to know! Apologies if I am preaching to the choir here or saying what is well known: Scorsese is also the key figure - as founder and chair of The Film Foundation - of the ongoing extensive film restoration and preservation program, starting back in 1990, when many great works on film started to show signs of severe damage caused by wear, chemical instability and poor storage conditions (color fading, shrinkage, fungus, etc.). Hats off to this great man!

both Kubrick and Scorsese are concerned with the representation of the human violence (more psychological in the first, more physical in the second). Tarantino also shares the taste for violence, but learns from Stanley the style of paradoxical dialogues (as those of Dr Strangelove and Full Metal Jacket). Anyway, no love and women for all them
@AaronHatcher

@darkthorpocomicknight7891

Not really. Kubrick only treats "violence" in some films. Probably his most consistent theme is the human mind. Scorsese touches on that only very tangentially - so no real connection

Tarantino is more like obsessed with over the top violence that isn’t even needed. And I can’t seem to care or take seriously any of his characters, it all just feels like a parody.
