My wife and I only discovered the show last November (2020). And we proceeded to binge all nine seasons. The chemistry between Martin and Louisa remains fresh and interesting the entire way through. That's real credit to Clunes, Catz and the writers.
Without Louisa their is no Martin. Caroline uses her beauty, femininity, personality, character, and acting skills to make Louisa and Martin’s on screen romance and life together, and the show, as something real. She does more than just providing a deeper context for Martin. It’s her superb ability to connect us with Louisa’s love for Martin, that makes the whole story believable. A comedy about an anti social physician wouldn’t have lasted. She makes the show work. All of the other actors do a fantastic job of creating the community vibe. Great acting and a great show. I will be sorry to see it end.
Their relationship is why I watched it! The character of Caroline was a joy to watch. My favorites scenes were the very first scene in Series #1 with Caroline and Martin on the plane and the very last scene of the last episode of series #8 when they talk after watching the medical helicopter take off and leave..
You two are the best 👌...I will miss you and the rest of the cast terribly. It's the only show that makes me 😃laugh on tv...The whole cast is just the best ever...May You and the cast live long and prosper..God Bless 🙌...
To be honest, I followed this show with the hope of seeing Caroline. She seemed to have the great personality and great good looks. The village, the others and the comedy were important to me as well.
