What a lovely surprise to hear Martina's gorgeous voice sing Strauss. I'm a bit surprised that people think of her as being only a Verdi Soprano. These are art songs written for orchestra and Soprano. Martina, as well as many other of her colleagues, sang a great deal of art songs in recital during their careers. Singing these songs is not the same as singing Electra or Salome. At any rate, I'm so thankful to hear this recording.
