Martina Hingis vs Mary Pierce 2000 Indian Wells Semifinal Highlights. If u like my HL's please consider making a donation to my paypal www.paypal.me/... really grateful for whatever you can give during these covid hit times.
You could never tell with Pierce. She was so streaky - she went through patches of being untouchable, then could fall to bits (often in the same match).
I mean, it's difficult to win EVERY SINGLE match against a player. Hingis was the far superior player, but even she could have an off day once in a while.
Mary doesn't hit as well on the run as compared to Lindsay, who is also slow, but for the most part still has remarkable balance and composure when pulled out wide outside the court.
Hingis also knew Pierce was a far less accomplished athlete and her movement was even more of a handicap than against Davenport who also is the purest striker of the ball. Both Venus and Serena were athletes in another league Hingis couldn't compete against at their peaks. If only she decided to put more into developing her second serve she would have had a chance, and been at a 49-51 footing vs what became a 68-32 disadvantage especially against Serena.
