A Karl Marx 'double'.What a voice-such sadness that he died so young. He must have been incredible on stage at 6 foot 9 inches tall.He was Wotan and Boris...thanks for this upload-it's a little treasure.
Great singer. What really is incredible is his Russian. It is probably the best Russian I've ever heard from non-Slavic singer. There is virtualy no accent!
I hated Talvela's Hunding under Karajan. He sang softly and apologetically. The OPPOSITE of Hunding's personality. Karajan must have told him to be quiet, who knows why. Talvela was much better as Fasolt under Karl Bohm, at Bayreuth 1967.
