I believe Marty Stuart will be remembered centuries after he's gone. He's always pertinent, even when being nostalgic. He personifies the American Spirit in his Faith, his Life and his Music. God Bless Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives !!!
Everyone realizes this man is a living breathing encyclopedia of country music, right? A LIVING legend...all hail Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives!
The cowboy image which Marty is, represents real American manhood. The symbol of independence and self reliance. He is an inspiring figure in country music.
Thanks Marty for this historic lesson in the history of California country. I was fortunate enough to see Rose Maddox at a Fathers Day Bluegrass weekend in Grass Valley in the early 90’s. I also saw Vern Williams, and these two legends even shared a stage. My greatest thrill was meeting and hearing Chris Gaffney in the early 2000’s may he rest in peace. Myself personally I have loved bluegrass since the 80’s and always loved folk music. Our legendary players include the Alvin brothers and of course James Intveld, Big Sandy and Deke Dickerson, who fly the country and rockabilly flags with equal zest. Our state has a proud legacy, and of course our greatest contribution to songwriting besides Merle and Buck has to be Tom Waits. He redefined music with no boundaries but roots in jazz, blues and country. I’m proud to have former Hacienda Brothers Dale Daniel and Dave Berzanski on my latest recording because our country talent is so real and present. We have as much desert and forest as we do beaches and boulevards. I love this film and am proud to honor Marty as a legendary unifier of the worlds of American music.
I didn't know this little documentary existed until now! I'm a hard rock & heavy metal man but Marty Stuart captured me about 3 or 4 years ago & I've been hooked ever since! I've been fortunate enough to see him and the Superlatives 4 times on the Way Out West Tour & it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. I guess it caught me at just the right time. :-) Can't wait to finish this video!
Great…! Was really a walk down the memory lane … Born in North Hollywood in 56..grew up in the valley … did not realize that everyone else did not get to do all the fun stuff that was on offer to me… the beaches, the mountains, the deserts all in 83* degree weather…Music and hip clothes…Just incredible… Beautiful Girls everywhere…
Being a wild child growing up in Bakersfield and a great privilege to have known the Owen's & Haggard families, I will always pick the Bakersfield Sound to reside in my heart. 🎶♥️ Fabulous video Marty! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of my favorite albums from one of my absolute favorite bands. I was lucky enough to watch Kenny and Chris play endless sessions in Nashville with Hoot and Rachael Hester. Those sessions piqued my interest in Marty and after that, I’ve been a diehard. Marty and I agree. Sweethearts of The Rodeo is the start of the California sound - the Dead, the Eagles, Flying Burritos, etc., can be traced to that album. The world somehow revolves around Clarence White. I just haven’t figured it out yet. 🤓
I could hear Mike Campbell's production on this before I even knew he produced it. It's still in high rotation (on vinyl) in my house! It's a perfect album.
indeed if it wasn't for Mike basically kicking Marty in the ass and saying let's do this it would have never got done. it is a great album one I've still never tired of yet since it's release

The only thing better than the album is seeing them perform the entire album in a very nice small venue. It was undoubtedly one of my favorite live music experiences. The songs from the album were great and the professionalism and musicianship was superlative as the name implies. It was nearly a two hour show and even when they played songs not on Way out West they we're still relevant to the spirit of the album. Totally amazing show.
when you hear these guys play, you have to smile. They are the best at what they do, but together it's a whole other level. It just grabs you, shakes you, and reaches in your soul.
This guy marty Stuart is so talented and his knowledge is just great from a young lad his mind must have been like a sponge just absorbed everything he done or played with jus one of America's great talented people 👍🏴
Marty sure has had a unique vantage point from where he has lived an incredible life as an amazing accomplished music artist. The years he has occupied, and the Superlatives are a testament to his legend. Sure glad he's still making music. Hope to see them live someday soon.
I love Marty and the Superlatives, but this video is over the top awesome as it seems it just covered and touched so many facets of my life. This video just so captured life in the Western US. I can't wait to dig into the new album. Thanks for this cool psychedelic country trip. Love all the Superlatives videos and all the videos of the members giving historical background on Country and really just the music of the United States. Learned as much from this bands' members' tales as I have in all my years of reading about music. Thanks guys for all you do.
Marty is a class act he walks and talks and lives country music Marty also stays in his roots thank you Marty for being one of the all time best and staying true to county music. May god bless you and your family.
This is one of the most interesting, entertaining, informative, and well-produced videos on the Internet, if you are interested in seeing the evolution of our society through the lens of music-which spawned a lifestyle and fashion and philosophy. This video filled in a lot of historical holes for me. When as a boy I first heard Marty Robbins do El Paso, I instinctively knew I had just heard an inflection point. Even though I didn’t know the term. And I didn’t know the rhythm had grabbed me because it was a polka! 6/8 time! I just reacted to it and it’s exotic-ness. And then, the almost flight of the bumble bee speed of the tale of a cowboy dying for love, to guitar music. With lots of detail! I didn’t know the older history at all. I knew Tennessee Ernie Ford. Doris Day. Elvis. Buddy Holly. Burl Ives. Eddie Fisher. Prez Prado. That’s all I knew when I was ten or 11, except for classical 45s my fathry had gotten me, like Peter and the Wolf. This video is really helpful, as well as nostalgia producing.
Thank you for posting this. What an amazing find I’m going to see Marty here in near the Seattle area the 13th of this month finally thank you for this pose❤
Thank you Marty and band. From a kindred spirit originally from the west of Ireland. In two hours I'm heading to o'Hare airport, flying to Nashville to see you with Roger and Chris at the Ryman.
I wonder where that double neck guitar is that the boy is playing today? Wow... Marty keeps country alive. I have worked with him and his crew many times. Top notch and great people.
I have the cd and the songs make me think of scenes & pictures in the west. Also with headphones turned up, the tune Way Out West has a "wall of sound" for me.
LOVED THIS VODEO. From Gram to the Burritos to the Byrds and... the Superlatives... and everything in betwixt and between... this is my kind of music... just an awesome video!!!
My swan song in music was being the Lead Singer for Tiny Moore's lead singer with his studio band. Even as a teenager with the English invasion, there was clawhammer banjo for me, loved this movie
We can only hope that sometime in the bears future, Stuart,Campbell, McGuinn, Hillman and the Superlatives can get together for what would be an earthshaking array of talent. How we need guys lie these to bring back the sincerity, and love of the roots of the music we hold dear.
Thanks Marty and crew! I just saw you at Country Thunder in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin last night. Your group was very special and you are the ultimate entertainers!!!
Watch Marty Stuart on RFD tv. He is one cool dude. Great story teller and a great singer! Also got the prettiest girl and wonderful singer for a wife! Connie Smith!
