I liked that this film went against certain expectations and stereotypes with some of the characters.I also liked that the narrative took quite an unexpected turn - good job 👍🏾
Wow what can I say another great short film sure is an eye opener loving the work you all do big up the MYM team and keeping bringing these movies with a message x
Watched Gangs of Birmingham that was great. Martyr was fantastic too, your actors are brilliant and like good short stories from the start of them I never guessed what twist was in the end. Keep it up all of you these was so really enjoyable and thought provoking.
Definitely! So many cultures to represent and I think you guys do a great job in this film to represent the prejudice that can be thrown about also. Would be nice to see something about gang culture in brum also because you do so well with London based films of that genre too! Big love guys
Definitely! We need more films from cities all over, properly represent all the different cultures 💯 we’re working on finding them! Hopefully some more big Brum ones too 🙌
The message behind this is true though. *spoilers ahead* Doesn't matter who does the killing...The whole point is that there are killings going on. An arm's dealer/a drug dealer is gonna give the resources, but it comes down to the core matter at hand. People are killing people over this drug thing in London. Over territory in London. Yet no one cares about the jeromes until the marys are dead too. I see both sides of this film. But the point is simple, a life is a life. There are underlying issues causing these lives to end and not many people are caring. Too desensitised to the violence to give a shit until it affects them. In this case, the dealer never cared till it affected something he believed in, yet told his partner gang violence ain't shit.
The first short film I ever watched from mym was deep it wich my uncle was in (the one who stole the chicken and chips 🤣) ever since then I have watched loads of mym films I love them keep doing what your doing and producing top quality short films 👍🏾
I don’t know if anyone spotted it but you can tell it’s not professionally done because you can see orange on the gun as it is a BB Gun but I enjoyed this video a lot great effort guys!
It was filmed in 2020, March before lockdown and then the remaining scenes were filmed when lockdown restrictions were lifted. Follow @arugasuk on all platforms for more Birmingham films.
