Maruni - This is dance from Nepal, Sikkim and Darjeeling usually performed by males in female costumes, who's body movements are extremely graceful. Watch 353 performers dancing to the samala beat expressing celebration with a touch of romance.
Glimpses from the World Culture Festival (WCF), a celebration of the Art of Living’s 35th anniversary, that was held in New Delhi, India between March 11-13, 2016.
Hosted on the world’s largest floating stage of 7 acres, WCF brought together 3.75 million people from 155 countries. The 3-day event was marked by mesmerizing performances by 36,603 artists from around the globe and showcased cultural diversity like never-seen-before. An estimated 1.8 billion people watched the live telecast of the event from 767,463 locations across 188 countries.

This dance is typically performed in Nepal from centenaries and proud to see it is tracticed in Darjeeling and Sikim too. Well, it is not surprising that you have the same tradition as Nepalese because you are after all Nepalese people.

It's a Nepali dance culture not India. Since Darjeeling n some part of Sikkim belonged to Nepal before treaty done many years between India n Nepal, people over there still possess n practice this dance culture. We r proud of being Nepali.

Idk y people are so hypocrite when we say 'Indian Nepalese' come on guys we'll know Nepalese are living in different part of the world so it doesn't means we Indian Nepalese ain't Nepali. We were Nepali, we are Nepali and always be Nepali 🤞❤

I wonder is it really Maruni dance? I have seen Maruni in different forms wearing costumes by male dancer in the disguise of female but here I see different. No doubt song is nepali beat.

the national anthem of nepal is also composed by indian nepali who is from darjeeling...we are divided by borders united by culture and language..Nepali made Nepal Nepal didn't made Nepali..

Shayad Gurung.. Proud to hear Nepali Indian. I call always address myself Nepalese English. They respect more. If were to say " I'm English". English say "yeah". We should all stand up proudly with our dignity and full respect from others.
