Jon, the Millennial Movie Member who begin me on my journey thru the Marvel Universe, sent me this after Endgame. I am BEYOND excited for phase four - but especially Black Widow.
I grew up reading Marvel comics (in the early to mid 90s) and I always loved reading Stan's Soapbox (Stan Lee's little message to the readers at the end of each comic). He always taught acceptance, friendship, love, and responsibility for our fellow human beings. Marvel has (almost) always tried to bring diversity to their comics, whether racial, religious, or sexual. The X-Men series (the first comics I ever picked up) taught a lot of young people that it is okay to be different, and that different does not mean weak or lesser than. I credit Stan with a lot of that, for always reminding the readers to be the best version of themselves.
The X-Men were a comic analogue to the Civil Rights movement as well. Professor Xavier was meant to be MLK and Magneto was Malcolm X (kind of odd that the MLK figure in the comics was called Professor X and the Malcolm X guy was named Magneto. I suppose switching the codenames would complicate the comic name and be a little TOO on the nose).
The part that got me then, got me now and will likely always get me was in Endgame when Anthony Mackie says "On your left" just as the rest of the Avengers start arriving through the portals. The roar that erupted in the theatre was indescribable. There are VERY few movies as perfectly crafted as Endgame.
I will never forget how it felt to be in a packed theater during that moment. When Steve said "Avengers Assemble", the entire place lit up and people cheered. I've never seen anything like it in a theater.
Absolutely! As much as people hate how Marvel put the "franchise era" of film into overdrive, no one can deny the magic of that first decade run, and "Endgame" and that specific moment was the absolute perfect capstone for that era. Just the memory of being in that crowd sends a wave of happy goosebumps all over me.
In the comics there was always a final page where Stan would answer fan mail, and you got a sense that he was a big proponent of humanism. He always saw the best in people, the potential for humanity to rise above their petty differences and work together to make this the best place in the multiverse.
I wasnt going to go see End Game opening day but there are so few opportunities that come along where shared experiences of a single event NEEDS to be shared with other people. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, are close family experiences. What movies and television does is bond people that you don't know, through a single story GLOBALLY. Luke Skywalker, Frodo Baggins, Tony Stark, these are names that truly brought hundreds of millions of people together for 1 thing, to share in an experience. Endgame had to be seen opening day with those brothers and sisters Stan Lee talked about. It was a 10 year journey we all took together. The tense moments of uncertainty, the laughs, the tears, and the cheering is something I will never forget in that theater because I knew that everyone there had been on the same trip I had been on and for 181 minutes in that big dark room everyone of us where a big family.
i only had my daughter on weekends, so i wanted every weekend we had to be special so one of the things we did was to go to the movies, and we would go early and sneak into a second one, since i was on a tight budget we went to the dollar tree to get snacks first, and that is how we would spend a Saturday, in the theater with the big screen riding an emotional roller-coaster, she always got to pick a movie each week. those were some of the best of times. i miss them.
Seriously! I know movies are her schtick, but if she's now a Marvel fan she's gotta check out Daredevil and Punisher! We all know Matt and Frank could "get it".
That big 4 at 3:21 is a tease for a film of The Fantastic Four, a group of characters we've been hoping would come to the MCU for years, as they were the first super team of Marvel Comics, way back in 1961!
Most of these movies have come already, and we're headed into Phase 5 very soon...but man this trailer still hits. Stan's message and the music that plays revealing the dates for these movie...chef's kiss.
I remember this. I really missed the movies during the pandemic. Stan's speech was great. People hate on phase 4, but I loved it. It was well worth the very long wait. It's just too bad we lost Chad.
I kind of hate and am yet impressed that, when this was release, 2023 seemed so very, very far away, yet here we are. Also, and I'll admit this may be the alcohol withdrawal talking (day six), or it may be knowing we'll never see him again, but Chadwick as BP doing the Wakandan salute gets me teared up every time.
I remember when this came out, I teared up watching it. It brought me back to the comradery and excitement of seeing Endgame in the theater and how everything had been put on hold during COVID, and people started getting really ugly to each other during the lockdowns. I know it is over-dramatic but it was a reminder of good times and gave me hope we could remember we are all on the same team in the end. I really hope you watch WandaVision, it was the spark us Marvel nerds needed during quarantine and where we could all interact through watching people's reactions and coming up with wild theories on RU-vid, it made you feel less alone. I love what you do, you always make me laugh. I hope you will enjoy WandaVision as much as we all did and can't wait to see your utter confusion during the episodes. Don't worry, there is a BIG payoff.
Even though we watched these movies at different times and places...you're still my sister Ash. I'll be waiting for you no matter what...I'll be there. 🤜🏾🤛🏻💯
This was definitely a celebration! (and at the time, was a significant look ahead...) Can't wait to see your reaction to the Marvel Disney+ Series and all of Phase 4!
I saw that in the cinemas and there were a pair of old Scottish ladies behind me that fancied Captain America. When he collected Thor's hammer I heard this comical "ooOOOH!!!" from behind me in Scottish stereo lmao.
Just wanna thank Jon for sending Ashleigh on the journey, and to thank Ashleigh for bringing us with her. Looking forward to the rest of her Marvel adventure!
Love it. And yeah, I think that's a big part of why reactors have... kind of exploded over the last few years, it feels like. We've not been able to have in-person shared movie experiences, but reactors are a good way of filling that need that we share. And... that's not to say we're all going to abandon you (and other reactors) when things really start to properly open back up again, just that... I don't know. In a way, you (and reactors like you) have really done a lot to help us make it through the insanity of the last few years by helping us to still have a shared, joyful movie-watching experience.
Absolutely 100% CHILLS!!!! ...That illuminate number #4 was in reference to the Fantastic Four....you really need to start watching trailers when they drop, the anticipation. please watch SLAP SHOT lol
WOW a bonus video! That's awesome. And the very last tease in this was the blue 4 with a circle around it which refers to the Fantastic 4 and is in place of an Avengers "capper" (basically a finisher to each phase) so to speak. Many confused it for only representing phase 4 rather than being a movie tease. This was a nice emotional tease to hype up for the stuff after Endgame, interesting to see how these movies will impact you when you watch them. Just for reference point: We are up to Black Panther in phase 4. Next movie is Ant-Man in Feb, the GOTG 3 in May and the Marvels (which got shuffled back) in June. They've also announced additional movies that stretch into 2026. Don't worry if you feel worried you will fall behind or be overwhelmed. The next movie after the Marvels don't be released for another year and a half. So you and (the MMM have that much time to catch up on a dozen movies).
The What If series might be a good one for Ashleigh if she wants to have Black Widow 'back'. I actually teared up a bit at that one & i think it's a good gateway for prepping for all the multiverse stuff, if you're not up for dipping into the full series' of WandaVision, Loki etc. etc.
Back in the 70s when I started reading Marvel Comics there was no one that could imagine this day. Except Stan who repeatedly said Hollywood would one day discover the Marvel Universe. We all just laughed at him. Now you have a taste of the exhilarating adventures I read as a kid and into adulthood. The comics were and are superior as there are no limits to the wonderment layed out within the pages of a favorite comic book.
This video made me so emotional when it came out. Oh and I really hope you react to wandavision. I know you'll love it ans it will be a treat seeing you experience it. If you do, I recommend 3 episodes at a time as it's so short.
One more thing, though I am sure somebody already posted it, yes that was Stan Lee. And the end movie preview with the "4" in a circle is the Fantastic Four logo (a blending of Universes). Some of the Fox movies are cannon for phase 4, you might need to check out some of the movies for everything to make sense down the line.
I love how they had Stan Lee narrate this brilliant montage of classic moments throughout the Infinity Saga of the MCU before we’d be introduced to Phase 4 and the Multiverse Saga. I tear up every time i watch this. This is one of many reasons that i just simply love Marvel. Nothing personal against DC, it’s just that even when i was a kid the only character i ever really cared about and became a fan of was and still is Batman. That’s really all I’m gonna say about my feelings about Marvel and DC. Thank you Ashleigh for watching and reacting to the Marvel Celebrates The Movies video! #MCU #Phase4 #MultiverseSaga #SeeYouAtTheMovies
They kept the schedule pretty well, only The Marvels was pushed to a later release. I'm super excited for Ant Man 3 in February and Guardians 3 in May!!
Ash sweetie Multiverse of madness was awesome I saw it three times, and yes that was the late great Stan lee narrating to his memory I say; "Excelsior!"
You might want to do a video on all the trailers, because after Phase 2 the trailers themselves became freaking epic, especially leading up to Endgame.
Did you see the blue number 4 near the end??? That means they will FINALLY be doing a Marvel Studios version of the very first Marvel characters (and my favorites) the Fantastic Four!!
Being in a theater opening weekend for Endgame was an experience. I normally hate being in crowded theaters, but that was 1 time it added to the experience. Also not to get your hopes up Ashleigh, but the MCU is based on comics and in the world of comics it’s not that unusual for the “dead” to show up again in some form. Especially with where the MCU’s current “Saga” is headed, so you never know who we might see again that we thought was gone forever.
And its not like the first time its happened. I mean how many lives have been sacrificed for the soul Stone? and how many of them are still dead? So yeah there is no question you can come back from that (or at least a version of yourself)
@@user-zp4ge3yp2o There is logic behind the argument that cease to exists for time and losing your soul in an exchange are not quiet the same things. My point was that Thanos traded his daughter's soul for the soul stone and she is now back in Endgame. And that was just a side effect.
Yeah, that was Stan Lee talking. Also, if you REALLY want to get "swept up" in the excitement of things, you should check out the different Movie Theatre reactions for the BIG marvel movie moments! (well, for the movies you've already seen, or course) Makes me wish I saw them in the theaters too!
I remember back when the first Avengers movie was out and people were really ragging on. They said that the theme tune would never be iconic like Star Wars etc. Some RU-vidr or news show went around asking people to sing theme songs and almost no one knew Avengers, which shouldn't be a surprise because it hadn't been around for 40 years like Star Wars. Anyway... VINDICATION!
There is a Captain America "time" tribute that I would highly recommend if you are a Captain America fan. It is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes though. It's not that popular but it is a hidden gem
At first when you mentioned you were gonna watch this I was like "But she hasnt seen Far From Home yet" and then i remembered it shows you clips for all the "upcoming" movies anyway so you're gonna get "spoiled" anyway lol.
It's interesting to think that not all of the movies mentioned there have come out. The Marvels and Fantastic Four have yet to be released. Heck, I don't know if we have solid casting information for the latter. Just so you know, in the comics, the Fantastic Four were the revival. In the 1940s, the company (called Timely Comics at the time) had been popular, but fell off after the war (mostly called Atlas Comics through the 1950s). Stan created the Fantastic Four as what was going to be a farewell to the company of sorts, finally writing what he wanted to do and if it failed he was going to quit. It started the resurgence of superheroes in what was now Marvel Comics, the Fantastic Four having the tagline of "The First Family of Comics" because of it. Problem is, they've had three incarnations in movies before, and none have gotten them done very well. But why did Marvel take so long to make an FF movie? Because the company sold the movie rights to their most popular characters back in the 90s in order to stave off bankruptcy, which is why they started the MCU with what was then a C-list hero in Iron Man. Since then, though, Disney made a deal with Sony to have MCU Spider-Man movies (though Sony still makes their own movies which aren't part of the MCU but use Spider-Man characters, just without Spider-Man in the live action ones) and bought 20th Century Fox, which brought in the film rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Speaking of the X-Men, I would hope you would start up that franchise rather soon. Not as consistent in quality as the MCU, though. The good ones are generally seen as X-Men, X2, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine (debatably), X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan, Deadpool, and Deadpool 2. The Wolverine and Days of Future Past do expect one to have seen X-Men: The Last Stand, though. Completely skippable (aside from a couple gags in the Deadpool movies for the first mentioned in this list) are X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants. And, as with every video, I recommend you watch Imagine Me & You.
I wish you'd watch Practical Magic with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. They are witches were raised by their 2 aunts who just happen to be watched also. The next one I'd love to see you do is First Wives Club. Hysterical!
I don't know how to properly describe the goosebumps I had, the sheer sense of euphoria and joy I had watching endgame in the cinema. This was a culmination of a decades of movies and I got to see all the greatest heroes of my childhood in one place on the big screen. I'm a 42 year old man getting choked up at 'on your left'. I still do when I rewatch that scene. I hope I always do. And I *missed* being in the cinema.
I was so glad when this came out, such a wonderful tribute to Stan and to me the actors who encompassed the first 10 years of the MCU! On another note- wasn't a fan of The Eternals, and Thor Love and Thunder was a mess.😔😣
Worth mentioning~on Disney Plus there was a Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special. It’s worth your time if you can see it. Plus, after Endgame Marvel, on Disney Plus had several Marvel TV series….Wandavision, Loki, Ms. Marvel, Falcon & the Winter Soldier & She Hulk. Most likely I have forgotten one of the TV series. Netflix has (had) several Marvel TV series. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, the Punisher, Iron Fist & the Defenders. While they are in the Marvel Universe they, so far, have not been in the Marvel Universe films. Those TV shows do talk about events & characters from the Marvel films. A few years ago Marvel canceled those Netflix shows. Recently it was been announced that the Netflix characters will start to appear in mainstream Marvel films. In fact one of the Netflix characters had a vital cameo in Spiderman: No way home…the most recent Spiderman movie. At the very start of the Marvel films (Iron Man) there was talk of a long term plan & the interconnection between the films. Well, you just watched Endgame & that was the payoff for the many films up to that point. Now a new cycle of films are starting moving toward another climax movie.
And you still have the epilogue for phase 3 to go- Spiderman: Far From Home. It's such a fun flick. The thing to keep in mind when going into the next grouping of movies and TV shows is that Phase 4 is that it's all about what the world is like post "blip" and setting up our new slate of heroes that are going to be tackling the next big bad. I could rattle off personal thoughts on them, but I don't want to start shit (cuz that always happens with laying out opinions on the internet) but I will say that The Eternals should have been 2 movies (they pack in a lot of stuff in that movie and they really needed to let some of that stuff breathe before going on to the next thing) but at the same time, I don't think people would have gone to see 2 Eternals films. That isn't a indictment on the film's quality or anything (fine, imo I thought the film was good,) its just that The Eternals are not, and never really were, one of Marvel's bigger franchises (and thus I ignite a comic fan battle lol)
You probably don't know this if you're not a comics fan, and it's not much of a spoiler, but that logo illumination at the end suggest the Fantastic Four is coming. I hope you like the 4th wave of Marvel movies (I didn't, except No Way Home).
As much as I like Nicole Kidman, it's really Mr. Lee we need to hear this from, because Endgame was such a great group event, so many gasps and cheers, so much whooping and applause, it was a tremendous evening to take part in and I hope there can be others like it.
3:20 And, unsurprisingly, you miss this. People living off of MCU might think this just means "phase 4", but this is a teaser for a Fantastic Four movie. Disney finally finished all the legal mambo-jambo with buying Fox, so they got the movie rights back and let you know that.
Ahsleigh you also have to watch disney+ series Wandavision . Falcon and the winter soilder and thrn Hawkeye. All great series I think each is 8 episodes long
